This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 10 readers including red sand and red sandstone, plus some South African wildlife.
Jim and Diana chose #950, “as that is the time of Monday morning’s next SpaceX Starlink launch.” I didn’t see the train of satellites this time but when I saw it last summer and discovered it’s part of a plan to bombard the planet with 5G waves I feel mixed about that idea. I do like to be connected but appreciate connecting to nature and noticing the flowers and the landscape. These Bee plant grew at the edge of the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park near Kanab, Utah.
Sue chose #919, “for the last time we had a tiny rain here.” From the same day as above, this panorama shows the dark clouds that actually brought a tiny rain to the dunes.
Tanya chose #1010, her birthday. Sandstone layers like a birthday cake iced with noon light into Antelope Slot Canyon near Page, Arizona. It was a fun Navajo lead tour in 2009 when it wasn’t quite so crowded as now. Very few of my photos were better than this fuzzy shot.
Jo chose #5300. A southwest view across Grand Canyon from Crazy Jug Point, a remote overlook where I particularly like to camp and watch storms approach.
Diane and Nigel chose #911, one of six shots in a panorama, same day as above, at Coral Pink Sand Dunes.
Rita chose #7977. How many elephants do you see disappearing into the bush at Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa?
Lisa chose #3648. Impala are the most commonly seen animal on safari in Kruger National Park, South Africa. They are fleet of foot and always running about.
Jeff chose #1110, “Nov 10, our return from the San Felipe.” This shot was on the return Ranger lead hike in Natural Bridge Canyon at Death Valley National Park, California.
Sallie and Bill chose #1128, their anniversary. And another shot in Antelope Slot Canyon from the same visit as above.
Yogi chose #8732. An August sunset sends shafts of light towards an Ocotillo from part way down the Yarnell Hill road.
Sierra wants to help package up the calendars that came in this box. I wish she could carry them into the post office. I’m going to try to ship by the end of the month.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
As ever, fine set of photos. Looks like maybe 9 elephants? Have just sent an email to Joan and copied to you to bring you up to date. Sierra looks very happy in her box 🙂 1511 for next week please. By then I may be fully awake, still very tired from the long haul home. Three flights and and a nine hour wait for the last one. Diane and Nigel.
Thanks. Those long flights are the bad part about going to SA. Hope you are feeling better. #1511 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn, I was hard pressed to choose a favourite. loving the panorama shot; the sunset pic and the canyon photos. Then I scrolled to the last photo and saw Sierra. It’s a no brainer for me ! Please put me down for 1905. Jo
She really is a photogenic cat, even with my phone camera. #1905 for next week.
Haha! It looks like Sierra might be a part of the calendar deliveries if you’re not careful. Great photo. The Antelope Canyon shots brought me a strong sense of peace and longing. Reminds me it’s probably time to get out to the desert. Hope the PT is going well!
Thanks. With us moving today I figured Sierra didn’t want to get left behind. 😉 No number this week?
Oh, I so love those shots of Antelope Canyon. I took hundreds, and lucky for me, it was in 2014 when I had a better camera than I did in 2009, so I got some great unfuzzy shots. Not an easy thing to do in that place. Fuzzy or not, you will always remember being there, I am sure. I am going to pick 2020, praying for a change.
I am glad to have visited Antelope Canyon before they were so crazy busy but my photos would be much better now. #2020 for I’m with you next week.
Great Pics of Antelope Canyon!, and I want to camp at Crazy Jug Point, what a great view! For next week I’d like 240 the number of consecutive days SoCal has been without rain. Could be a mean Fire Season … 🙁
Thanks. Crazy Jug is worth the longish bumpy drive for sure. I cry for the land and wish those tears could help. #240 for next week.
Crazy Jug Point is my favorite this week. 1121 for next week.
Thanks, good choice. #1121 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn Yes I also like Antelope Canyon and its difficult to choose from these lovely photo’s However, my favourite is Sierra in her box. Love it.. No 8329 for next week please. Have a good weekend.
Thanks. Hard to beat a cute cat pose. 😉 #8329 for next week.
I always love the African critter photos, Sierra in the box is a typical cat shot, Antelope Canyon is on my bucket list because of you. At work, my fellow Boomers have never heard of it, the Xennials and Millenials know all about it.
Next week, oh let me see 6461 for next week!!
Take care!!
Antelope is cool but there are other slots. Some Boomers aren’t as savvy as us. #6461 for next week.
All beautiful and what a treat to see the amazing animals in Africa. Can’t believe we’ve missed the coral sand dunes while in Kanab. Must remedy that next time!!
#928 for next week please. I’m trying to stay caught up with my blog reading :-))
Thanks. I’m thinking you are rather busy nesting. #928 for next week.
Nothing much has changed since the last time I was here. I still can’t choose. I love love that sunset shot but then there are those elephants and Antelope Canyon. I’ll try to get back for next time. Some days are good or maybe I should say OK and some are not. But I’ll take #847.
Thanks. I’d have a hard time picking a favorite too, except for the last one. Keep on keeping on. #847 for next week.
I wish those people in the Antelope slot canyon were really us! But I love that picture anyway! That and the elephants definitely on my wish list! But I’ll happily take the virtual tours instead, Time, age, and budget being what they are. Thanks for all the fun. How about 124 … departure date from here.
#124 for next week.
