This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 11 readers including South Africa, the Southwest USA, and old art.
Jo chose #1909. She might know what these flowers are called being I saw them almost in her backyard when hiking the South African Drakensburg Mountains with her son John in March 2010.
Rita chose #9098. The churning waters of the Orange River right before plunging over the waterfall at Augrabies Falls National Park in South Africa in March 2014.
Jeff chose #54, “as we head out to enjoy the 54th Borrego Days.” Old, but not that old, the 1983 craft store window I owned and operated in Tonasket, Washington. I practiced the stained-glass craft for many years, and took local craft consignments.
Gail chose #8190. Sometimes South African safari parks offer distant views. Addo Elephant National Park covers 633 square miles of land including shoreline just beyond the partially covered sand dunes on the horizon.
Tredeuce chose #6771. While walking the waterfall trail in Tsitsikamma National Park I was happy to see steep stairs instead of the steep boulder climbing that happened in many other places.
Yogi chose #1776. A drive through Zion National Park taken in July 2014 with Pat driving. We’d already toured the North Rim during her visit to the States from Serbia.
Linda chose #1130. Not my personal collection which isn’t this large, but I can dream. And this was only some on display at the Movie Set Museum in Kanab, Utah visited in 2011 while staying in Little Hollywood.
Diane and Nigel chose #1810. While they are traveling in South Africa this shot from traveling in Zion same trip as above.
Jennifer chose #5609. Hoop dancer at Heritage Days celebrated on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Gilda chose #2110, “my birthday.” Happy belated from all that’s left of a three-room Ancestral Puebloan structure on the North Rim offering a fabulous view of the Grand Canyon.
Sallie and Bill chose #909 for the time. This is the time when a rock cairn is geologic graffiti as it doesn’t mark the Wire Pass trail.
My choice taken by Jen when we went on a short walk last week.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Thank you for another great collection of photos. It is lovely to see you are getting better. For next week can I have 2019 please?
Glad you liked them. #2019 for next week.
Love seeing that camera in your hands, Gaelyn!
Let’s do 6690 for next week, which is the elevation we were at on the platform at the top of Clingman’s Dome in North Carolina yesterday.
Thanks, I just wish it was the big camera. #6690 for next week.
So glad to see you’re out and about again! The Orange River has to be my favorite this week. Number 2311 for next week, please. Happy healing!
Thanks, nice to get out once in a while. #2311 for next week.
Hi gaelyn, my mind is a blank with those pretty flowers which are prolific in the Drakensberg. My favorite is the photo of you taken last week. Looking good, my friend. My choice for next week is 1107 – the impending date I hope to travel to my old home town in the Free State.. Have a wonderful weekend. Jo
Thanks, sure was nice to get out with the camera. #1107 for next week.
I like the fake rock cairn shot the most. Glad to see you are continuing to be back at it. My number for next week is 2527 as per random dot org.
Have a great weekend.
Thanks, my favorite shot too. #2527 for next week.
So pleased to see your wrists are out of splits and you have your camera back in your hand. As always great set of photos but the favourite is the photo of you. Take care, Diane and Nigel. 2510 for next week please.
Thanks. I still wear the braces when shopping. Wish it was the big camera. #2510 for next week.
I too like the rock cairn, so out of place amid the red sandstone – I would not no it was a hoax. Next week I’d like 27 as we are preparing to depart for San Felipe’s 27th annual Shrimp Festival.
And thus the problem with unnecessary rock cairns. #27 for next week, and enjoy the shrimp.
Hi Gaelyn You certainly look happy to be out and about with your camera So pleased for you. Great photo’s again here Love the one of the jewelry at Utah. My favourite this week is the Hoop Dancer at North Rim Grand Canyon Nat Park. No 7435 for next week please. Enjoy your week end.
Thanks. Definitely a treat to get out with even the small camera, plus saw some great petroglyphs I’ll be sharing soon. #7435 For next week.
Favorite photo … the last one with you looking like your getting back to near normal functionality and out and about. The warmth of normal life begins to glow again on your face
The clouds disperse and the sun shines again. The future brightens, pregnant again with possibilities.
Life is good. Life is precious. A healthy life needs to be appreciated every day and thanks given daily to your god or spiritual entity of choice. Mine is Mother Earth, the giver of all things.
7379 for next week, Gaelyn.
Thank you so much. I felt full of light. Some days better than others. #7379 for next week.
I’ve been absent from the blogosphere for a bit so it’s wonderful to see your fabulous collections again! Love that first Orange River shot and your choice from Jen. #625 for next week please.
Thanks. You have been very busy. #625 for next week.
My favorite this time is the last one, with you looking happy with your camera in hand, at least the small one. No bandages or braces looks pretty nice, too. I’ll play along for next week, Gaelyn. How about 4594, an old anniversary with an old friend.
Sure felt good to be out with a camera. #4594 for next week.
Your wrists are out of their casts! Yay! Thanks for “our” trail picture. I would remove the cairn if I were really there. That could be confusing to hikers. Loved all the pictures, so happy you’re back walking in your beautiful area, looking strong and healthy and beautiful! 124 because that’s the date we head to Florida, our next trip.
I have removable braces I mostly wear now when shopping. Still not “there” yet with mobility. But thank you, getting better almost every day. Getting cold here so my leave number would be 119. #124 for you.
I enjoyed all the photos chosen and especially the one of you – nice to see you!
Good to see you out and about enjoying your photography outings.
Thanks.
I love anything with red rock! My choice is 1047, the current time. Thanks for the great pictures, as always.
I do love red rock. Thank you for playing along. #1047 for next week.
Gaelyn, I have never done the Foto Friday before and am not sure what to do. Do I just give a number I like to you and then you find the matching photo or do I choose from photos and give you a number that I like? Sorry, I just want to make sure. If it is that I give you a number, I will do my birthday on 1010…Thank you, Tanya Kaufman. 🤠
Thanks for joining in. You give me a number, I’ll find the oldest of that number in my photo archives, and share it next week. #1010 for you next week.
#6771. Those stairs remind me of the great times at my aunt & uncle(s) bay place on Puget sound north of Olympia. Part stairs and trail down a steep bank typical of the glacial topography of Puget Sound. The stairs were cottage Victorian in construct, painted. The trail held in place by logs placed against trees. At the bottom a boathouse and vertical log seawall with a big hammock for two mounted on it where we often slept and the rocky beach where we dug clams for many years and set off fireworks on the Fourth. Thanks for prodding my memories of a special place.
Being this is such an old post I’m not sure what photo you’re referring to, but glad it provoked a wonderful memory.
