Foto Friday Fun is back and this week is from 10 reader choices back in August right before I broke both wrists. These shots are from South Africa, Arizona, and Utah.
Diane and Nigel chose #1608, a panorama shot of Wall Street in Bryce Canyon National Park from September 2010, long before I worked there.
Gilda chose #8001. A beautiful drive to St George from Kanab looking at the Pine Valley Mountains in mid January, 2016.
Yogi chose #6502. Potential for monsoon rain over the distant Echo Cliffs and Navajo Mountain many miles away from the Walhalla Plateau on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park during an August, 2014 work day.
Tredeuce chose #5961. Another possible day of monsoon on the Paunsagunt Plateau where Bryce is located. This July, 2015 view is from the Skutumpah Road in Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, Utah.
Jennifer chose #6200. When driving east off the Kaibab Plateau an easy access overlook provides this view across Marble Plateau. Soon to be on that road passing the Vermilion Cliffs with a hard right crossing the Colorado River and heading south in line with Echo Cliffs, seen in the distance.
Pat chose #4004, “just because it’s a cool palindromic number.” Well this is cool, although not palindromic, that her previous favorite was also a giraffe head. It’s a stretch, but no problem for these long necked creatures. Giraffes were seen frequently at Kruger National Park during my 2014 visit to South Africa.
Sallie and Bill chose #727, “because that’s what time it is and that’s all the thinking I can do this morning.” I sure know that feeling. Wonder how much time the Bison-hybrids spend chomping away on the meadows on the North Kaibab National Forest adjacent to the North Rim.
Rita chose #1784. A delightful hike that includes a suspension bridge near the mouth of Storms River in Tsitsikamma National Park, South Africa.
Jeff chose #1614, “the time of day on the GPS as we sped past the Bryce Canyon turnoff.” During my first visit to South Africa in 2010 I traveled with a friend known as the bug lady and we never sped past an opportunity to shoot insects. This one seen along the hike to Sterkspruit Falls in the Drakensberg Mountains.
Jodee and Bill chose #1311. Lots of twists, turns, and towering cliffs long SR14 between Cedar Breaks National Monument and Cedar City.
This castle looking building is where both my surgeon and PT offices are located in Cedar City, Utah.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Progress! Your back.
The stars and planets resume their orbits.
Cheers!
Yea, thanks. Where’s your number?
6771
That Crack in the Wall at Bryce sure beckons a trail hound.
Cedar City sure has grown in the past 20-years. Over 30,000 population.
So many small towns have lost their character since my first visits in the early 60’s. And 70’s. Even old west towns along Hwy.-191 from southern Arizona to Canada have seen ‘modern’ improvements (?). Grow or disappear… catch that old west town flavor before the bulldozers reduce them to rubble…. and so it goes…..
Wall Street is awesome. Shame I was getting in shape to hike it again when I broke. Cedar City seems Huge and as big as I want much to do with. I too remember a different small town western America. Getting harder to find, then don’t tell anybody. #6771 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn, I loved Gilda’s choice of the mountains while you drove along the road. I’ve been absent – with good reason. I had major surgery and have only this week been allowed to go back to work. I’m fine and hope to post about my frightening experience – which I came through well – on my own blog. My number for next week is 1909. The date I heard I had a medical problem! Jo xx
Oh Jo, I am sorry to hear this and hope you are the road to recovery. I know that journey. #1909 for next week. Take care. Big hug!
Welcome back to photo Friday Gaelyn, My favourite this week is Breaks National Monument and Cedar city. Would like No 9098 for next week please. Have good weekend.
Thanks, nice to be back even if not whole. #9098 for next week.
Welcome back! I’d give Rita the lucky number this week, not just her photo choice but the link you provide to Storms River. Next week I’d like 54 as we head out to enjoy the 54th Borrego Days.
Thanks. Wish I was lounging in South African spring right now. Have fun in Borrego. #54 for next week.
I like best the photo of the cliffs along SR 14 nearCedar Breaks – beautiful. My choice for next week is 8190, random choice. Glad you’re getting back to normal !
Thanks. SR14 is a beautiful and curvy drive. Back to normal can’t come fast enough but I am better every day. #8190 for next week.
So nice to having you back on Fridays photos. Stupid question of the day: Is it difficult working the keyboard?
I love the Kaibab Plateau shots, it is like a painting with all the horizontal lines.
My number for next week 1776
Thanks, it’s good to be back to fun.
Typing has been unofficial PT for weeks and is improving, yet tiring.
#1776 for next week.
So happy to see you are able to post again! All such beautiful photos, but I think my favorite is that “castle” where the PT people are getting you moving again. Looks like a lovely place. I’ll choose #1130 for next week.
Welcome back, thank you for publishing my choice…I love it. Also the giraffe one is very cute. For next week can I have 2110, my birthday. Keep up with the PT😄
Thanks. Happy Birthday! #2110 for next week.
Thanks. #1130 for next week.
So glad to see you back. Great set of photos and love our shot. 1810 for next week please. Diane and Nigel xx
Thanks. #1810 for next week. Thinking of you in SA.
Happy to see you back. My fave is Tredeuce’s choice!
5609 for next week!
Thanks. #5609 for next week.
So glad you’re back (and having PT in a castle, no less!) You deserve the royal treatment! …my favorites are the giraffe for places I’ve never been and the vermillion cliff area for memories of where we have been. I’ll take 909 for the same reason I chose the # for this one.
Thanks. I’m not sure how “royal” the treatment is but does seem to be helping. #909 for next week.
