This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 12 readers including Grand Canyon, South Africa, and a birthday bouquet.
Tredeuce chose #5357. Crazy Jug, a favorite overlook, across Grand Canyon to the Great Thumb on the south side.
Pat chose #1550, “the time on the 24-hour clock when I arrive in Seattle.” I’m not sure if that would be Belgrade or Seattle time, but she’s landed. Time feels messed up when traveling far distances like across the Atlantic. This shot was far away in Kruger National Park, South Africa. Taken from a bird hide, one of few places to get out of your vehicle.
Gilda chose #9000. Sunset from my favorite overlook, Cape Royal, on the North Rim Grand Canyon.
Rita chose #8376, one of five in a panorama. Sometimes safari is about more than wildlife but also the breathtaking habitat they live in like at Mountain Zebra National Park, South Africa.
Diane and Nigel chose #1908. I took 100s of wave pics during my 2013 visit to Tsitsikamma National Park, South Africa.
Mary chose #820. Looking down Transcept Canyon from the Widforss Trail on the North Rim, across canyon to the South Rim, and beyond to the San Francisco Peaks in the hazy distance.
Chris chose #9542. If he was as tall as a giraffe it would be easier to see some of the birds he enjoys watching and photographing. Saw this one behind the trees and standing in a low place at the amazing Augrabies Falls National Park when I celebrated 60 in South Africa.
Jennifer chose #0385. A stormy May 2015 view from the North Rim beyond Oza Butte and the Grand Canyon to the South Rim, Red Butte, and beyond to the San Francisco Peaks.
Jeff chose #1934, “the year of Frankie Valli’s birth as we have tickets to the Four Seasons tonight.” Hope the concert was as good as seeing Grand Canyon in four seasons. This shot from the North Rim Lodge in the morning during 2010 monsoon as first light hit the peak of Angels Gate.
Jodee and Bill chose #9401. The entire landscape around the famous Wave is gorgeous as this shot proves. The colors, contour, and topography are mind blowing.
Sallie and Bill chose #819 for her upcoming birthday. I give this flower loving woman a bouquet of roses that dried perfectly in my makeshift cut crystal glass vase. This shot taken in February 2012 and sadly all the little trinkets were lost a year later in the Yarnell Fire.
Yogi chose #614, “miles from South Dakota back to Tulsa this week.” I wonder if this hummingbird flew that many miles. Barely seen at a feeder outside my RV window when working at the North Rim Grand Canyon 7-16-09.
My choices this week from early August monsoon storm looking east from Bryce Canyon National Park and a few days later climbing onto the RV roof for a checkup. Looking good.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Wow some really great photos here, love the monsoon over Bryce but Tsisikamma brings back amazing memories of camping there with my mother. 1608 for next week please. Away all next week so not sure when we can catch up. Best wishes, Diane and Nigel
Thanks. Tsitsikamma is one of three of my favorite SA parks. #1608 for next week. Have fun next week.
So many gorgeous photos this week, I loved the giraffe one. Can I have 8001 for next week, please? Have a good week 😄
Thanks. Unusual to see the even the tall giraffe’s head above the trees. #8001 for next week.
The Wave is on my bucket list big time as is seeing the Grand Canyon again from the North Rim. My number this week is 6502, just cuz it popped into my head.
You better start putting in for the online lottery now for the Wave and by the time you get lucky plan a vacation around it. Plus add the NR of course. #6502 for next week.
Well that was/is an visually enjoyable* post and pick of pics.
Gilda’s ‘9000’ starts it all off for me. I would have been sorely tempted to work that middle ‘third’ to get some color and detail.
Mary’s ‘820’ just makes me want lace up my hiking boots and drop into the canyon for a few days of solitude among the monumental works of nature.
The faded water color look of the birthday roses must bring on poignant memories for yoo, Gaelyn.
Your choice of the August Monsoon over Bryce is just perfect and a great example of the ‘Rule of Thirds’. Imagine that rain cloaked sun shooting light rays out and you have the perfect capture.
*All the posts are enjoyable and have great interest, some just more than others as is the way of things.
5961 for next week, please.
I so enjoy watching the memories pop up with everybody’s numbers. The first shot was too bright a mid-day sun. Funny thing about the roses was how they dried so perfectly without any help from me. I frequently try for the rule of thirds. The color in the monsoon shot is actually reverse sunset. Thank you for the comments and feedback. #5961 for next week.
That sunset is amazing! #6200 for next week.
Thank you. #6200 for next week.
Thanks for the splotch of green on my photo. I also like the giraffe head one. Put me down for # 4004, just because it’s a cool palindromic number.
Doesn’t that giraffe look funny? #4004 for next week.
Ahh, love the landscape around the Wave. More so because something tells me I’ll never see it in person.
That entire area of southern Utah is swirly amazing.
Oh my gosh, thank you for the birthday bouquet.. how perfectly appropriate and wonderful that turned up for me! Should be good omen for my year ahead I hope! Fabulous collection , everybody got lots of gifts here today! The giraffe is amazing … your picture of the Wave has me longing for a Southwest trip that would, this time, include seeing it. Love em all …except maybe your foot selfie on the RV roof, which made me a bit dizzy! Glad it was in good shape!
I was so happy to see that bouquet show up for your number. Double bonus, it was a gift to me from Berta so I got to pay it forward. I do hope you return to the SW sometime and get to see the Wave, or at least its surrounding landscape. #727 for next week.
Oops 727 because that’s what time it is and that’s all the thinking I can do this morning.
Wonderful variety of photo’s this week Gaelyn My favourite for this week is that lovely sunset over Cape Royal on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.No1784 for next week please. Hope you enjoy your weekend.
Thanks. I know canyon shots are your favorites. #1784 for next week.
Again tough choices for a favorite … but sunsets and The Wave are always welcome.
For next week I’d like 16:14 the time of day on the GPS as we sped past the Bryce Canyon turnoff. We’re rotating the tires as fast as we dare on the way home.
Sorry to have missed you at Bryce. #1614 for next week.
Amazing variety this week. Always love the Africa pics! So much beauty everywhere you go.
#1311 next week please.
Thanks. #1311 for next week.
