This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 11 readers including Grand Canyon, 1990s Mt St Helens, and some unusual animal tracks.
TreDeuce chose #2931. No bad views of Grand Canyon, even when clouds swirl around Wotan’s Throne it just makes magic.
Jim and Diana chose #36, “that’s how many thousands of feet we flew over the Grand Canyon on Monday.” I was only a few thousand feet above the pumice plain when hiking into the crater at Mount Saint Helens my first season working there in 1992. This is a panoramic shot scanned from film looking north across Spirit Lake and beyond.
Gilda chose #8998. A frequent sunset view for me from the Grand Canyon North Rim Lodge over ten summers. Rangers get paid in sunsets.
Pat chose #247, “Just measured my blood pressure and that is my systolic, diastolic, and pulse rate all added together!” She doesn’t have high blood pressure. But if she did, a walk on the Cliff Spring trail could take it up because of sharp drop-offs, or down because of the peaceful nature of the trail. A mile round trip walk in an intimate side canyon at the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Diane and Nigel chose #1217. I remember Berta planting this Lilac by the fence we built together in Yarnell.
Jeff chose #89, because he was on US 89 in MT last week. That did not take him near Mt. St. Helens where this shot into the 1992 crater was taken, just opposite direction of the panorama above and the same hike.
Jo chose #8719. A North Rim Grand Canyon view south across the canyon to Humphrey Peak in the distance from the Ken Patrick Trail.
Lisa chose #6391. Some kind of bird tracks across the beach in Tsitsikamma National Park, South Africa.
Jennifer chose #3333. Yet another set of tracks, actually dinosaur trace fossils, left in sandstone millions of years ago. Today seen along the Bunting Trail in Kanab Utah.
Yogi, and random dot org, chose #6292. He likes to take the family to the shore so would probably also like the Indian Ocean in Tsitsikamma National Park where this shot was taken, and the beach above, during my 2014 visit to South Africa.
Jodee and Bill chose #355, one of two in a panorama. Greenland Lake had water my first year working the North Rim Grand Canyon in 2008. Some years it dried up and some years no water at all.
My choice this week heading down the Navajo Loop Trail to shoot the moon.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Some impressive and intriguing shots present here.
The Cliff Spring and Ken Patric trails are now on my to do list.
3741 for next week, Please
Thanks. I highly recommend both those trails. #3741 for next week.
Indeed no bad views of the Grand Canyon and I bet you never got tired of those sunrises and sunsets? We are currently travelling in Norway and the sun has yet to set here. For next week can I have 2706, day and month we set off on our recent motorhome tour.
I miss the canyon and especially the sunsets. That must be strange to have constant daylight. #2706 for next week.
Oops !! looks like I forgot to play along last week, sorry Gaelyn, had family visiting. Love all these photo’s of Grand Canyon and my favourite is Grand Canyon with those clouds around Wotan’s Throne, very dramatic. have a great weekend.
Hope you had a great family visit. Thought you’d like all the canyon shots. No number this week?
Hi Gaelyn, I love the panoramic view of Mt St Helens. And the last shot which is your favorite! My number for next week is 2107 which is a deadline date for an article I haven’t even started! Have a great week, Jo
Thanks Jo. You better get writing. #2107 for next week.
Amazing, as ever! I love the one you chose for me!
I love this: “Rangers get paid in sunsets.” I really like the rocks and the topography.
#654
Nice to know dino tracks in rock works for you. #654 for next week.
Favorite is the North Rim shot. My geographical memory is slipping but is that possibly Navajo Mountain? Nah….I see Navajo from Cedar Mesa but it sure looks like the right shape.
Although Navajo Mt is visible from some North Rim overlooks, that is Humphreys Peak just north of Flagstaff.
Not sure what has happened to your layout but it has gone very weird on my computer! Love all the photos and we both love lilac. That last shot has to be our favourite, but every one is as good as the next. 1907 for next week please. Have a great weekend Diane and Nigel
Thanks. I grew up with a hedge of lilacs and find their smell intoxicating. #1907 for next week.
Layout looks OK to me. Sometimes I have to reload when that wonkiness happens.
Very odd, after submitting the comment the lay out went back to normal!!!!! Diane
Look at that beautiful loop trail!! i’d like to visit that wild beach too. So many beautiful places …. i’d love to join the party again, maybe #9998? Because it feels like that how many days before I get caught up on my blogging and visiting.
The world is full of beautiful places. I know that getting caught up feeling, so, #9998 for you next week.
The Greenland Lake pics are my favorites because years ago when I first went to the North Rim I kept asking my father why the ponds are called Lakes in that area and he said that it just they way it was in that area. Now that I’m all growns up, I see a similar thing with the ponds on Turkey Monkey called Lakes.
Sorry I was so late. I read your post last Friday and got interrupted.
Next week is 1687 because that is how many geocaches I have found.
Always inspiring photos. The 2 of Mt St Helens remind me of when we used to fish in Spirit Lake, back-in-the-day when there was a Spirit Lake.
I’d like 1969 next week as we just passed through Wapakoneta, where we missed the 50th anniversary reenactment of the moon landing by a day.
Thanks Jeff. There are actually fish in Spirit Lake again but I don’t think fishing is allowed. #1969 for next week.
