This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 11 readers including sunrise, sunsets, and quite a bit of water.
Rita chose #9899. This young water monitor was only about 10 inches long. Adults can be up to six feet. Saw this one at Pilanesberg Game Reserve in South Africa during my 2014 visit.
Cheryl chose #8888. When visiting Valley of Fire State Park be sure to drive the Fire Canyon Road for the big views.
Diane and Nigel chose #2106. When I parked the 5th-wheel for the 2017 winter in Kirkland, Arizona, Martin Mountain was my window view.
Gilda chose #80, “my father’s age.” Older by 800 years, the Pueblo ruins in Aztec Ruins National Monument, New Mexico are worth a visit.
Yogi chose #5763. I seem to see more sunrises when traveling and even in reverse looking west across the Salton Sea, the light was soothing from my Corvina Beach camp during February, 2015.
Pat chose #2106, “which was the day and month date yesterday, as well as the Solstice and my mother’s (RIP) birthday.” My mother’s birthday as well. She wasn’t a national park person like I am so never visited Death Valley where this shot was taken at sunset over the saltpan of Badwater Basin.
Jim and Diana chose #6159, one of four in a panorama. This rocky view at the mouth of Storms River is seen from a suspension bridge along a trail in Tsitsikamma National Park, South Africa.
Jo chose #1908, “an order number in one of the projects keeping me busy.” Hope she’ll post about this soon. In the meantime, enjoy a sunset from the Lodge on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona from August, 2010. Rangers get paid in sunsets.
Jodee and Bill chose #8401, “My digital clock is my ‘randomizer’ – I use the backwards time to select my number each week.” I love that idea. And also love when I get to see water reflections, doesn’t happen often in the Southwest. I’m sure they are seeing lots of water traveling in the Pacific Northwest right now. Took this shot while playing in the Kaibab National Forest during September 2014. Note my pickup with no camper on it.
TreDeuce chose #5711. This shallow cavern along the Indian Ocean was full of tiny sea fossils. Just a few of the fossils seen at the Mzamba site in South Africa.
Jennifer chose #1226, “for my birthday, Dec. 26th.” Being she lives in Canada I don’t think flowering bushes are a birthday gift in December. Not sure what this is that I saw in April, 2009, in Yarnell, Arizona.
My choice this week I’ve shared before. This shot of early light on the hoodoos came in third place for an all employee photos contest. I think it’s good enough to get on my photography website when I find time.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Beautiful photos and memories, I love the water monitor. For next week can I have 2500, the amount of miles we still need to do to get to Nordkapp in Norway.
Thanks. #2500 for next week.
The comments box wouldn’t load, so I will sneak in on Gilda’s comment.
This part of the NW hasn’t had any rain in well over 2-months, but we are enjoying a few days of cooler weather after running hot triple digits(up to 107*) for a few weeks.
1317 for next week, please.
Cheers!
Triple digits doesn’t sound like fun. Enjoy the cooler temps. #1317 for next week.
What a great idea having an employees photo contest, sure you will win one very soon though we love the above shot. As always interesting set of photos, love the Water monitor, When we lived on the Hunyani river in Rhodesia we used to have Water monitors on our lawn the dogs used to go mad!!
2806 for next week please. Have a great weekend. Best wishes from us both. Diane and Nigel.
I can imagine dogs not like water monitors in their yard. #2806 for next week. Be well.
Congratulations on your bronze medal photo, Gaelyn! Let’s do 1919 for next week, the year my Canadian grandpa returned from France after fighting for the U.S. Army in WWI.
Thanks. #1919 for next week.
Hi Gaelyn, definitely a favorite is your shot of the early light on the hoodos. Using Jodee’s trick, I’ve just had my mobile phone timer on for something I* had to remember to do! The number is 4716. Thanks for these interesting posts. I popped over to the fossil site you visited in SA. Have a great weekend. Jo
Thanks Jo. West Coast Sun isn’t far from where Joan is currently living. #4715 for next week.
Good morning and congratulations on your recognition. Your photos are very welcome. Why not 0704 for next week….that will be a very busy day for you…just guessing.
Thanks. 4th of July is often not busy in national parks because of no fireworks. #0704 for you next week.
Valley of Fire is high on my list of new places to visit. Can’t seem to find the right time to be in that location (: I looked at your other photos of VoF also. Have a good week.
VoF is best during fall, winter, spring.
Thanks for the salt! I’ve been there, too, ages ago. I like the monitor, too. I love lizards, big or small. Next week I’ll take 3434, which in Celsius will be the temperatures on Monday and Tuesday, oh hot, hot. That’s 93 F.
Oh that’s too hot, hot, hot. Only suppose to be 82°F here today. #3434 for next week, or hopefully cooler.
Always love your photo’s Gaelyn and it’s so hard to choose a favourite. The photo of the sunset from the lodge on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park,Arizona is gorgeous as is the photo of Martin Mountain Arizona, was that the sunrise or sunset? My favourite is early light on the hoodoos. Can I have no 6322 for next week please. Enjoy your weekend.
Thank you so much Rita. The Martin Mount was lit by sun setting light. #6322 for next week.
Hard to believe that cute little guy grows into a huge dragon! Love that you find beauty in a mud puddle – love my water reflection choice 🙂
#1421 for next week please.
Even the large water monitors are handsome in my book. I don’t get to see many water reflections in the SW so I’ll take what I get. #1412 for next week.
I really love the last photo, the light and shadows are just perfect. Random dot org says 7100 for next week.
Thanks. #7100 for next week.
That lizard is something! 6′??? Next week #1865!
Wildlife comes big in South Africa. 😉 #1865 for next week.
Always good pics, I like your entry and congrats on the recognition of your skill behind the camera.
Next week I’d like 1930 the year Alberta’s Jasper National Forest was granted Nation Parkstatus.
Thanks. Being a newbie photographer to Bryce it was nice to place. #1930 for next week.
