This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 13 readers including a variety of birds and several shots from the iconic Toroweap view point along the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Gilda chose #1709, “my daughter’s birthday.” May not be the clearest birthday photo, a Northern Goshawk perched above my RV at the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park in 2010.
Diane and Nigel chose #2604. The first of many this week taken at Toroweap along the North Rim of Grand Canyon.
Jo chose #4375. If she hasn’t already visited the SAMREC Penguin rehab facility in Port Elizabeth I’d recommend it.
George chose #0918. Saw these Puffins at the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport, Oregon back in 2014.
Lisa chose #7004. Although I’d never seen hops growing before I was surprise at this tall configuration seen along a highway north of George, South Africa in March 2014.
Sherry chose #1847. A sandstone outcrop along the Mt Trumbull Road along the drive to Toroweap.
Jennifer chose #1904. Dassies, or Rock Hyrax, were seen all over at Tsitsikamma National Park, South Africa.
Jeff chose #588, “the cost (in pesos) to renew my Mexican FMM in Tijuana this morning.” I’m sure there aren’t views like this Tijuana. Taken along SR67 on the drive into the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Melissa chose #1928, the year her Mum was born. A different angle on Toroweap Point as seen in the second pic above.
Yogi chose #5846. A delightful place to camp at Green Fountain Caravan Park in Port Alfred, South Africa.
Rita chose #2119. A small side canyon seen at Toroweap, same visit as above.
Sallie and Bill chose #926. I love this view of the Cockscombs when driving east from Kanab to Page along SR89 through Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Just around the curve is the turn off for House Rock Valley and more awesome rock.
Jodee and Bill chose #357. The view east from Cape Royal overlook on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park. There are no bad views of the canyon.
My choice, believe it or not I have taken few photos since arriving at Bryce, been too busy in training. Another post is coming when I find time. This is the view out my Imax windows of one of the horse corrals at Bryce Canyon National Park. A couple days later the ground was covered in white.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Signal hasn’t been strong enough to post so I’m sitting in town to get this out. Later I put up the booster and that seems to have solved the problem.
I’ve seen the hop-growing lines like those set up outside of Montrose here in CO, but never with the hops on them. It is an impressive undertaking. I can’t wait to see your take on Bryce. Number 3005 for next week, please.
I saw hops grow in WA but less tall. Once I figure out what I am doing here I hope to get out and shoot Bryce a lot. #3005 for next week.
We have seen hop growing in the UK but never elsewhere, Our shot we first thought was RSA, but obviously we were very wrong!!! Love all the canyon shots. Hope you are enjoying the training, new place new thoughts. 405 for next week please. Have a good weekend, Diane and Nigel.
Joan said that was a normal way to grow hops but I’ve only seen it once before in Washington state and much shorter. Training is keeping me Way busy in this beautiful place. #405 for next week.
Great photos selection this week, thank you for my daughters birthday photo…such a huge bird. I always find it hard to photograph wildlife. For next week can I have another that is a special date for me…1988 the year I met my husband😄
Thanks. I too struggle with wildlife and especially birds. #1988 for next week.
As always such great photos, each with a story. Not better than the others, but I like Rita’s choice. The main overlook Toroweap gets so much [deserved] attention, it’s easy to forget the side canyons.
For next week I’d like 1862 the year the peasants of La Puebla defeated the French on Cinco de Mayo.
Thanks Jeff. I think we often become obsessed with the advertised features and forget to look around at the rest of the landscape. #1862 for next week.
Hops grow in the Willamette Valley in Oregon, too.
My favorite photos this week are those of Toroweep.
With all the microbrewerys in the PNW it figures that hops would be grown. This was a heavy Toroweap week.
The photo with the colorful sunset is my favorite. Looking forward to learning about Bryce Canyon NP as you get acclimated to it.
Next week is 8853 which is our house number on the street.
Thanks, that was an interesting place to camp with ostriches as neighbors. As I learn I will share. #8853 for next week.
Love the hops. That’s how they grow them in Michigan. Let’s do 3234 for next week, the miles I’ve put on the new Ford since leaving Florida.
I’d never seen hops grown like that before but it seems like it happens all over. #3234 for next week.
They are fun photos. What a time you’ve had traveling around. It’s interesting to see the geography of your US. #3200
Thanks. Almost everywhere on Earth is on my list to see. #3200 for this week.
Hi Gaelyn, I’ve had a hectic week and almost forgot about Foto Friday. Ironically I know where those hops near George and have photos of it taken from the back of the motorbike. Also way back when. I also have hops growing up my veranda rail outside the shop! I choose 9000. My MIL (Grant’s Mum, turns 90 on Saturday and I’m going up to the Free State to help her celebrate. Have a great week, Jo
I can identify with a hectic week with training at the new park. A happy birthday to your MIL. #9000 for this week.
WOW ! at last I managed to pick a number showing the Grand Canyon. My favourite this week are those lovely Puffins at the Oregan Coast Aquarium in Newport. No 1012 for next week please. Hope all is going well with your new job Gaelyn.
You have to get lucky with Grand Canyon sometimes considering how many pics I’ve taken of it. 😉 Puffins are cute. #1012 for this week.
I always love the Toroweap pictures and “our” road with the mountains view makes me homesick for mountains. And for road trips. I’m extremely late. 956 if you haven’t already “put the next issue to bed”. It’s amazing to me you have time to blog right now with everything else you’ve got going, but I’m glad you do!
Thanks. Toroweap is amazing. Not sure how frequently I’ll be posting due to all the work hours but at least I have the signal to do it. 😉 #956 for this week.
