This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by nine readers including Autumn colors and examples of cameras through the years.
Rita chose #5985. I believe we had the most private campsite in Tsitsikamma National Park camped in the bush above the Indian Ocean. Look closely to see Joan and her truck, my tent out of sight to the right.
Diane and Nigel chose #9110. Lake Powell is up stream and above the Glen Canyon Dam from Lees Ferry where Bill and I took them in 2016. I am saddened by this reservoir built primarily for recreation.
Jeff chose #1948, “the year Bar Miramar opened in San Felipe” where he’d be drinking Margaritas and eating shrimp on the beach. Brings back memories of my 2005 visit to San Felipe. A long ways from this 2011 shot of fall colors on the North Rim.
Sherry and David chose #7000. My favorite North Rim location for sunset over Grand Canyon, and my favorite shot this week.
Jennifer chose #1956. Taken seven minuets later than Jeff’s shot above. It’s interesting to compare the quality of different cameras over the years. This was a FujiFilm FinePix S1500 which I bought in South Africa and really liked until it died.
Ann chose #1235, “that’s what time it is right now.” And this is the time I managed to take a semi-decent selfie with the small P&S Canon PowerShot A1000 while standing on Navajo Bridge looking upstream at the Colorado River in 2009.
Sallie and Bill chose #124, to “see if I get another past life pix.” How about when I lived and worked at Oregon Caves and went floating on the Rogue River where I shot these deer with the old HP Photosmart M22.
Yogi chose #9612. Sometimes, even the big Nikon D5100 DSLR gives a washed out background but still showed these Blue Wildebeests and egrets at Pilanesberg Game Reserve in South Africa.
Pam and John got #55 for the number of words in their comment. This shot from 1989 at the California Living Museum is a scanned film print from I know not what.
My choice from last week hoping the tree-tunnel of Cottonwoods would be Autumn gold, but not yet.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.

Love all the animal shots here Gaelyn, but my favourite this week is the one of you standing on Navajo Bridge with the view of the Colorado River. Next weeks No 8999 please. Have a great weekend.
Thanks. One of the best selfies I’ve ever taken. #8999 for next week.
1928. The year my dear mother was born.
#1928 for you next week.
All fantastic photos and we love your favourite of the Grand Canyon, but our shot of Tsitsikamma National Park has to be our favourite as we have camped there several times, always in private spots so wonderful memories. The best posssibly, the first visit with my mother and in a tent that was extremly wet the morning we were leaving and folding it up was not easy!! I think after that our next stop was CapeTown where we struggled to put it back up again as there was a wind that we could hardly stand up in!!! Such a fun camping trip though touring RSA with my mother, she was great. 1611 for next week please.
Hope you have a good weekend, take care Diane and Nigel
Thanks. I especially like the Tsitsikamma shot as well partly because of Joan there and like your wonderful memory. #1611 for next week.
The Cottonwood Trees. I want to walk down that lane!
Me too, but it’s someone’s driveway to an out of site house. Plus a car came along just as we got back in the car and kind of gave us a funny look.
I love those anticrepuscular clouds!!!! It always gives me a sense of things that are bigger than humans. #1979
Surprising how many sunsets give off those marvelous rays. #1979 for next week.
all the photos are great this week but I especially love the one of the sunset at the North Rim – absolutely beautiful. For next week, I choose #1013, the current time.
Thanks. My favorite too. #1013 for next week.
Your favorite is my favorite this week. As you know I have a wide range of cameras but stick pretty much to my iphone and my Nikon D5300. I think the quality of the photos has more to do with the eye of the photography rather than the hardware. You could take great pics with anything.
1784 says random dot org for next week
Thanks. I do agree to a certain extent that photography is about the light and having an eye. But I also know if we continue to practice, we get better, and there is a difference in camera quality. My phone does pretty well as long as the image isn’t blown up. I believe we’ve both upped our game over the years. #1784 for random next week.
I agree the sunset is the most stunning photo, but wanderlust suggests the campsite in Tsitsikamma National Park calls out the loudest. Next week 1240, Fran and I watched the Baja 1000 as they sped past post 240.
That Tsitsikamma camp was one of the nicest in South Africa. #1240 for next week.
What a magical place to pitch a tent!! Love the ducks 🙂
5470 for next week please.
One of my several favorite camps in South Afria. #5470 for next week.
My life is feeling overwhelming so I’m really happy to finally have a chance to see these wonderful pictures. I love your campsite in the first picture and my shot of the gorgeous canyon wirh bonus sunset. No wonder it’s your favorite too. Also like your selfie. How did you do it? Great shot. 7000 was such a wonderful number I’m tempted to try it again but I’ll do 8000 instead for next week please.
I am sorry to hear you are overwhelmed right now. #8000 for you this week.
Oh the Rogue River was fun! i like seeing your old pictures especially when from an area like this that is somewhat familiar to us — but also at least as welli enjoy your shots and descriptions of places we’ll never be lucky enough to see. (Definitely a fan here she says gushingly!! ) 1128 will be our 61st anniversary, so let’s go with that for next week. Happy Thanksgiving.
I can’t thank you enough for being a fan. It is fun to share our stories. #1128 for your anniversary. Happy Thanksgiving.
