This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 10 readers including sunsets at Grand Canyon and Yarnell, me at one and 54, and Carson visiting Crater Lake.
Rita chose #8989 a multi-shot panorama. A Grand Canyon early October sunset at the end of a stormy day from the North Rim Grand Lodge taken in 2014.
Diana and Jim chose #1481, “the mileage from Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore to our winter home in Florida.” It would take even more miles to watch the sunset at the North Rim Grand Canyon.
Steve chose #2008, “just because it’s in my head right now.” I take a lot of “just because” photos while traveling. This stretch of SR89 took me north of Flagstaff and past Sunset Crater during April 2010, and many other times as well.
Jeff chose #53, “as I prepare to join the Snow Bird welcome party at the 53rd Borrego Days.” At 1 1/2 years old I was too young for Snowbirding but was able to push my even younger cousin on the swing.
Diane and Nigel chose #1910. The saw a similar sunset from the Bright Angel Point trail on the North Rim during their Grand Canyon visit.
Sherry and David chose #1102. Echo Cliffs parallels SR89 on the Navajo Reservation for many miles of desert.
Yogi and random dot org chose #440. Seems appropriate with the holiday next week as this was my Halloween costume ten years ago.
Jodee and Bill chose #150. They will relate to my long time travel companion Carson who also loved zoomies on the beach, or meadow, or…anywhere. In this shot we were visiting Crater Lake National Park back in 2007.
Pam and John chose #2201. They’ve probably seen this Gomphothere metal sculpture by Ricardo Breceda’s Galleta Meadows in Borrego Springs, California. Or they will have the chance during their January stay nearby.
Sallie and Bill chose #179. From the same visit with Carson to Crater Lake we see Wizard Island. I’m guessing they’ve visited this park in one of their home states.
My choices from Tuesday night’s sunset complete with crepuscular rays. I drove to the east side of town thinking the reverse sunset on heavy storm clouds would make a good show and wasn’t disappointed.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.

2019 Calendars are ready to ship.
I’m going to go to Borrego Springs one of these days. It seems like a funky place where the rich people haven’t ruined with golf courses and condos, yet.
Random dot org says 2197 for next week.
Borrego Springs is a fun little town with no franchised fast food places. However, there are golf courses, or at least one. You and random get #2197 next week.
I like that stretch of highway that was in the photo I chose. I’ve been to a lot of places and even lived in some that people blog about. I need to get to Crater Lake, a place I’ve never been. Your photos are fantastic as usual.
For next week I guess I’ll chose #1952
Thanks Steve. Crater Lake is spectacular but has a brief season without snow. #1952 for you next week.
Our favourite this week is without a doubt our photo, wow, that looks like it is as hot as hell down the back of the canyon, an amazing shot. we never took any photos as good as that! Brilliant selection though as always, I note that you have a cigarette in your hand, hope that you have managed to stay away from them since you stopped 😊
Have a good weekend hugs form us both, Diane and Nigel
Ooops forgot the next weeks’ number 1210 please.
Thanks. I really missed those canyon sunsets this summer. I am still cig free. Have you down for #1210.
So glad to hear the cig free news 😊.
Brilliant photo’s here, but they are always fantastic Gaelyn. ! I love the one of you as a l and half year old pushing your cousin on the swing. I would love to know what you were thinking about back then. The sunset from Bright Angel Point is my favourite this week. No 5938 for next week please. Enjoy your weekend.
Thanks. I grew up playing with that cousin like best friends. #5938 for next week.
All great photos again this week, can’t pick a favorite as there is a such variety over a long period of time. For next week I’d 1706 the year of Ben Franklin’s birth, as I am reading a biography.
Thanks Jeff. #1706 for next week.
Gaelyn, I always enjoy the photos you send. I am not sure you get the messages that I sometimes leave at the end.
Thank you George. I am receiving comments even though a message reads something like Fatal error. I’m not sure you get my answers.
Oh sweet Carson! I’m so happy to see him here 🙂 Love the canyon under different skies.
I miss him all the time. Sierra is nice, just not the same.
You look like a big girl at 18 mos old pushing your cousin. Great picture. Love that sunset with the rings on the rocks. You don’t look very scary in the Halloween costume. I’ll try #5874 for next week please
I grew up playing with that cousin. I like sparkly instead of scary for Halloween. #5874 for you.
Beautiful photos of the canyon. I never tire of looking at these photos. Carson is so cute riding shot gun. You can see the anticipation in his posture. No matter how many time we stay in Borrego Springs, we always tour the metal sculptures.
Next week: 7210
Thanks. I’d like to photograph the sculptures after dark. #7210 for you.
I am checking the notify me of new comments via email box with this post to see if that makes me get an email.
I hope this isn’t the way it has to be done now.
I’m baaaaack…..and yes, that last photo is my very favorite of all. You are getting so very good, Gaelyn. It is fun watching your photo skills progress. I will choose 1106 since that is the day I have to get on another airplane. Much too soon
Welcome home. Thank you for noticing, it’s continues to be a fun challenge. I can’t believe you’re getting back on a plane this soon. #1106 for you.
I like the photo of your former traveling companion Carson – having a friend to share the journey is so very nice. For next week i would like #1358 – the number of miles we recently traveled in a 2 week journey around parts of Colorado, Utah and Arizona – a wonderfully beautiful and memorable trip !
Thanks Gail. Carson was an awesome travel buddy. I am envious of your recent journey. #1358 it is.
