This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 10 readers including several panoramas. These get me around having a wide angle lens. I’ve been taking panos for decades but don’t tape them together on the fridge anymore.
Rita chose #5788, one of four in a panorama. September 2016 still saw monsoon storms and inversion visit Grand Canyon with great views from the North Rim lodge.
Yogi chose #306, “cuz that is how many steps I’ve done so far today.” I might have taken that many steps to shoot this panoramic view East from Point Imperial overlook on the North Rim Grand Canyon. Taken in May, 2008, my first season working there and now those standing dead trees are gone as are many of the live ones in the distant left from the Fuller Fire in 2016.
Diane and Nigel chose #3108, one of five in a panoramic view of the pool below the Great Waterfall in Meiringspoort South Africa.
Gail chose #386. A ten year old view of Humphreys Peak heading south on SR89 towards Flagstaff, Arizona.
Sallie and Bill chose #9118, “in honor of the new month.” One shot from a nine image panorama overlooking Lake Powell with Waheap Marina to the left and Navajo Mountain in the distance right of center. Taken in April three years ago, I don’t think the water level is any higher now.
Sherry and David chose #1625, one of three in a panorama from Marble View where I love to camp and watch the monsoon storms.
Jodee and Bill chose #8260. Mom and her youngster were part of a herd in Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa.
Gayle chose #2335. Last year’s calendar cover shot. Wonder what it will be this year.
Jeff chose #1300, “the approximate number of detainees at San Diego’s Otay Mesa Detention Center.” Hid away, almost like this ghostly figure. This lousy shot was taken while on a night drive at Kruger National Park during my first visit in 2010.
Pam and John chose #9001. A pleasant sunset taken while visiting a friend in Chino Valley, Arizona in March 2015.
My choice this week of a lush yard after all the rains in Yarnell. Now I need to find somebody to cut down the knee-high weeds.

We never tire of all your great photos both from the USA and from RSA. Just off to pack now for our week away, we will be back a couple days late for next weeks Foto Friday Fun but will catch up over the following week. 709 for next week please. Have a good weekend Diane and Nigel.
Thanks. Have fun. Look forward to pics when you return. #709 for next week.
These are all places I shall only visit through your photos! Thank you!
Glad you’re along for the ride. Feel free to play along.
Those panos are all so stunning!! What a great big beautiful world we live in. Still, nothing beats my elephants. I love them!!
Your little yard in Yarnell is looking content and so peaceful. You need a weed-only eating goat to come hang out for awhile 🙂
#2110 for next week please.
Thanks, I have always enjoyed taking panos. But you’re right, nothing beats seeing elephants. Though I am jealous of your Maine location. It’s a nice yard. I’m not really into landscaping, but…I also don’t need a goat. #2110 for next week.
Gotta love elephants and their dedication to the young, but Rita made an excellent choice too with the depth of the monsoon over the north rim.
Next week I’d like 1036 (10:36) the time it took me to complete the daily sudoku today.
I love to watch the social interactions of elephants. #1036 for next week.
Stunning photo’s, I especially like the stormy cloud scenes, also the plants surviving in your yard, we call them gardens in England so I still refer the same here in Crete. My favourite this week is Mom and her youngster at the Addo Elephant National Park South Africa. No 9090 for next week Foto Friday. Have a great weekend.
I love dramatic skies, and elephants. Garden looks much better now that mowing has been done around it. #9090 for next week.
Awesome panos! One thing this area of the country offers is lots of panorama opportunities. Love the elephants always:) Our sunset is gorgeous.
Next week #8009
Thanks. Panos have always been a fun challenge of mine. We do have a lot of vast landscapes out west. #8009 for you.
Really love the monsoon and inversion clouds over the canyon and that view on the way to Flagstaff. Those are some clouds at Marble View. So many great pictures, the elephants, the calendar cover and the gorgeous yard. Who can choose? I’ll take #5168 for this week please.
I have so missed the canyon views this summer. And of course I always miss elephants. #5168 for you.
You had rain? Please send some this way! Love the elephants and amazing sky and scenery, though must admit that the arid looking low level Lake shot was definitely not my favorite just because I’m so tired of everything being too dry here in the part of Oregon that is supposed to be the Emerald Valley! #1910, my mom’s birth year. Her b-d is this month.
We had much needed rain and could use a bunch more. After living in the PNW it’s hard to imagine it being dry. #1910 for you.
