This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by ten readers including South African wildlife, plus shots from the US Southwest, Northwest and mid-west.
Diane and Nigel chose #28, their wedding anniversary was Tuesday. The end of August and beginning of September marked Autumn back in 1974 when this shot was taken on a vacation with my boyfriend in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Nice reflection in the calm water held back by the beaver dam.
Sue chose #7427. The first time I visited Addo Elephant National Park I saw more of these warthogs than elephants. But as you’ll notice in another shot two down, I also saw elephants.
Jodee and Bill chose #2311. Sometimes it’s difficult to say why I took a photo except I labeled it “Butt rock” from my first visit to Toroweap in 2010.
Sherry and David chose #8248. So it seems I like to take photos of butts. I think it’s because the animals are often walking away. But, I did write a post about butts.
Rita chose #9951. Yet another animal from South Africa but not a butt. Instead the head of a terrapin in Pilanesberg Game Reserve.
Gail chose #1754, “the current time (military) as I write this.” Not even close to the time I saw the Sterkspruit Falls in the Drakensberg Mountains of South Africa even with the time difference.
Yogi chose #0567, without the help of random dot org. This is no random dot lighthouse seen along the Coquille River where it meets the sea in Bandon, Oregon when Berta and I were beach bumming in November 2014.
Jeff chose #2012, “the year pediatric cancer awareness became mainstream.” Followed two years later when “President Obama declared September to be Childhood Cancer Awareness month, and lit the White House Gold.” That’s a tough act to follow Jeff. Here, I’m following my guide John, son of blogger Jo, on our return hike in the Drakensberg Mountains.
Pam and John chose #5208. Derek Suwaima-Davis, hoop-dancing at the 2014 Heritage Days at the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Sallie and Bill chose #1238. Called Navajo Bridge, there are actually two bridges. The older on the left is now only for walking while the newer on the right is driven. Good place to look for California Condors.
My choice from the yard here in Yarnell because I liked the light.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.

Unusual photo’s this week Gaelyn, My favourite is the Hoop dancing at Grand Canyon National Park.I would like number 5788 for next weeks Foto Friday. thanks. Have a great weekend.
Some week’s are a real mishmash. To see Derek dance is amazing. #5788 for next week.
Great photos all, I really love the first one with the reflections, and the last photo with the two bridges.
My number for next week is 306, cuz that is how many steps I’ve done so far today. Only 9700 left to go!!
I’ve always liked that first shot also, it’s just too bad it’s a fuzzy old scan. You go with those steps and get #306 for next week.
I enjoy all your photos. YOU have amazing journeys.
Thanks. This week was a mixup.
Some great memories for me here, the trip with you and the photos of RSA. Wish we had seen the hoop dancing though. 3108 for next week please. Enjoy your weekend Diane and Nigel
Taking photos is about evoking memories. I’m glad those include you. #3108 for next week.
I like them all, and feel drawn to #2012 for the feeling of freedom seen in the beautiful green Drakensberg Mountains, and the sense of grandeur in the vast rolling sky of potential storm clouds covering it all. For next week I choose #386. Thanks for sharing your photos and memories.
Thanks Gail. The Drakensberg Mountains definitely captured my heart. The appeared both rugged and soft at the same time. #386 for next week.
Sure is hard to pick a favorite today; some photos brought memories, some made me wish for a magic carpet or more time/money for trips to exotic lands. But have to say that the elephant walk is my favorite because ..elephants … and also because I followed the link to your earlier butt shot post even though i did remember reading it before — it made me smile even more this time. Bill always laughs at me because I get so many shots of birds from that angle. I swear they turn their backs on me on purpose . 9118 in honor of the new month for next week?
I always wish for more time and money to travel. Wildlife just doesn’t like to pose. 😉 #9118 for next week, and month.
Too funny that you wrote a post about butts! Love my picture this week of the elephants from any angle. But my favorite may be the great terrapin head or is it the beautiful photo of you following your guide. Those are calendar worthy IMO. Love his toothy grin. Reminds me of the Grinch. Love the Lighthouse picture too. Also great picture of the hoop dancer, pretty sure we saw him the year we were there. Just amazing! And I love the angle of the Navajo Bridge picture. I’ll try 1625 for next week please.
You know how wildlife is. But the terrapins were very curious. #1625 for next week.
How fun is that butt rock??? Definitely good for a giggle 🙂 I love the elephants and the amazing green hills of Drakensberg.
#8260 for next week please.
Sometimes I really can’t explain why. #8260 for next week.
I just came back from seeing that Coquille River Lighthouse. I love the Oregon Coast, but wouldn’t want to live there.
How about 2335 for next week?
I’m with you, not a coastie inhabitant just a visitor. #2335for next week.
What a variety this week. It’s fun enjoying the mix of your experiences from the random numbers offered up by your readers. I have to admit I do like my choice of the grasslands, and isolation, of the Drakensberg mountains. However just following the link and seeing the pack you are carrying, I’ll enjoy it vicariously 🙂
For next week I’d like 1300 the approximate number of detainees at San Diego’s Otay Mesa Detention Center.
Good thing I backpacked into those mountains then because I’d never carry that pack today. #1300 for next week.
Love all the wildlife, well, except that Warthog. It is one unpleasant creature. Maybe we will make it to the Heritage Days at the North Rim one day now that we have relocated in the west. Nice photo of the Navajo Bridge(s).
Next week # 9001
I highly recommend Heritage Days, or any visit to the North Rim. Your new home is not far away. #9001 for next week.
