This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by nine readers including a couple of old stoneworks and lots of old stone at Grand Canyon.

Twin Towers & Eroded Boulder House Little Ruin trail Hovenweep National Monument UtahDiane and Nigel chose #2505.  Where they live and travel in France they see a lot of marvelous old buildings.  A little different are these Native American built, 700-1000 year old ruins, Twin Towers and Eroded Boulder House, at Hovenweep National Monument, Utah.  I especially like the house to the right under the boulder.

stone wall trees river Frankfurt GermanySue gets #121 for the number of words in her comment.  More stonework but this time a wall in Frankfurt Germany.

House Rock Valley Road Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument UtahPam and John also chose #2505.  They know the House Rock Valley Road and followed Bill and I on it after our adventure to White Pocket.

Dark sky over morning sunlit canyon from Lodge North Rim Grand Canyon National Park ArizonaJeff chose #1942, the year “Manzanar opened Feb 21 and 2 days later Goleta was shelled.”  Seems fitting for that sad date to see this dark sky over a morning lit Grand Canyon.

Rain in canyon view from Rainbow Rim trail Parissawampitts Point Kaibab National Forest ArizonaJodee and Bill chose #8221.  Rain fell in the distant Grand Canyon while hiking with Jim and Gayle along the Rainbow Rim trail from Parissawampitts Point on the Kaibab National Forest.

Gail & Ray January 1956 Spring Road Hinsdale IllinoisRick gets #56 for the number of words in his last week comment.  That’s me with my Dad in an old scanned photograph from 1956 in Hinsdale, Illinois where I grew up.

Temples, smoldering smoke & San Fransisco Peaks from Walhalla overlook North Rim Grand Canyon National Park ArizonaYogi chose #6950.  Looking across canyon to the South Rim smoke is seen from a controlled burn.

Moon over Sky Island from Walhalla overlook North Rim Grand Canyon National Park ArizonaRita chose #889.  Yet another view across canyon this time past Sky Island towards the southeast from the North Rim’s Walhalla overlook.

Last light on South Rrim canyon walls from trail-road to Tuweep Grand Canyon National Park ArizonaSallie and Bill chose #1940.  They are on the road right now between Florida and Oregon and if they had the right vehicle could make the rough 65-mile drive to Toroweap which offers an iconic view of Grand Canyon.

Javelina water bowl outside door Yarnell Arizona

skunk through screen door Jim's Yarnell ArizonaMy choice is the wildlife seen last week.  The one hummingbird feeder stays very busy.  Bird seed goes out every morning and the Jays will bully the sparrows.  In this dry environment I fill five water bowls every morning and this Javelina found the one closest to the door.  Hard to see but that’s a skunk tail on a friends porch eating cat food.
