This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 10 readers including quite a few shots from landscapes in southern Utah, a little bit of South Africa, and my 1981 look and craft.
Diane and Nigel chose #2303. This rock built structure is now a ruin, probably from the late 1800s into 1900s, cowboy time on the Kaibab National Forest. Cattle has been grazed here over 100 years. But prior to that Native peoples farmed in what is now called Snake Gulch.
Rita chose #9789. My Transept Canyon view three years ago from the RV parked at the North Rim. This shot was taken the day I arrived, 4-25-15. Saw this view in many weather moods. Now I park in a Ponderosa Pine forest.
Sue chose #1954, one of seven in a panorama of the Drakensburg Mountains, South Africa. During my first visit in March 2010 I hiked in these lush beauties. Does this make you want to visit more Sue?
Sherry and David chose #4218. This view along House Rock Valley Road in southern Utah may look familiar to John and Pam as they followed Bill and I northward after visiting White Pocket in March 2016.
Pam and John chose #2303. They may have checked out Stateline campground off House Rock Valley Road on a return visit to the area. Looked like a nice campground when I drove through it in August 2016.
Jeff chose #1550. A Columbine seen along the Virgin River trail in Zion National Park
Jodee and Bill chose #8511. DYK, no two zebras are marked alike. Saw these in March 2014 at Mountain Zebra National Park, South Africa.
Yogi chose #618. From my first time hiking in Buckskin Gulch slot canyon in May 2009. I’ve probably described this place as other worldly before.
Sallie and Bill chose #41, because “I’m excited about April!!” In 1981, I was excited about learning the craft of stained glass. Here I was working, and trying to sell, at a craft show in Hanover Park, Illinois. I made this piece for my in-laws and now my stepdaughter has it hanging in her home.
Patti and Abi chose #680. A pile of sand and rock at the junction of Wire Pass and Buckskin Gulch trails in southern Utah from the same hike as above.
My choice this week, sunset on my birthday this week in Yarnell, AZ.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
I think our favourite for this week is the slot canyon. We were totally fascinated by them when were taken to one by Michael and Mary. Something we had never seen before. Hope you are planning on having some fun over Easter. Nothing planned here, just want to stay away from the crowds! 3003 for next week please. Diane and Nigel
Slot canyons are truly magical. So glad you got to experience one. I go nowhere on holidays like this. #3003 for you next week. Be well.
Buckskin Gulch is my favourite for this week Gaelyn Have a very happy Easter and may I have no 480 for next weeks photo Friday.
It is a beautiful slot canyon. #480 for you. Enjoy your Easter.
Again all the photos are great, but Buckskin Gulch is always amazing. Next week I’d like 1968 the last time all baseball teams shared the same opening day.
Thanks Jeff. Everyone seems like to like that slot canyon. #1968 for you.
Ah yes, your photos do make me want to visit South Africa, but that Buckskin Gulch photo is still my favorite this time. I love the light in a slot canyon, the way color shifts and changes, and that little bit of fear when you look up and see a tiny cloud way high. That made me hike faster in Little Wildhorse, but thankfully there was nothing to fear. How bout 1997, first time I hiked that slot.
Let me know when you want to go to South Africa. I know a wonderful guide and would love to go along. Slot canyon seems to be the big hit this week. I’ve only hiked them under clear blue skies, for days of forecast. #1997 for you.
It’s a 3 way tie between your choice, the Buckskin Gulch and you with the stained glass. What great pictures all. I’ll try 3437 for next week that’s the score in the women’s NCAA basketball game I’m watching.
I can agree with your first two choices for favorites. #3437 for you.
Love my zebras – they’re so pretty with all their different patterned stripes. Drakensburg Mountain is such a beautiful place.
1370 for next week too.
I kidded my South African friend Joan about riding a zebra. She laughed. Notice they’ve never been domesticated. Also a lot of red rock there like our SW. But no mountains here like the Drakensburgs. #1370 for you.
Buckskin Gulch and the Zebras are my favorites, but also the perfect sunset … nice end to your special day. You have so many talents — I can’t even imagine making stained glass! Happy Easter.
Next week: I did a random number thing and got 1874.
Thanks Sallie. I’ve tried many arts and crafts over the years. #1874 for you.
I love them all but especially the Buckskin Gulch photo. And the blast from the past of you. 4583 for me next week.
Thanks Yogi. That slot canyon is awesome and I really need to get back. #4583 for you.
Wow! I love your birthday sunset photo, so pretty!
I like our photo of sand and rocks, looks as if there are treasures buried within.
I think I missed a week so let’s go for #690 next.
Thanks. #690 for you.
