This week’s Foto Friday Fun includes 10 images chosen by readers featuring Grand Canyon, the Salton Sea, and a nude beach.
Diane and Nigel chose #2303. An iconic view of the Colorado River 3000 feet down from Tuweep overlook in northwest Grand Canyon National Park. Requires planning and the right vehicle.
Sue chose #1964, birth year of one of her kids. The first time I visited Grand Canyon it was a birthday present from friends in 2005 and I told them I wanted to work there. Three years later I became a Park Ranger on the North Rim. By 2010 I knew where and when to catch the morning light and appreciate the dark clouds of an August monsoon.
Rita chose #699. During the spring of 2009 I drove through the Painted Desert along SR89 a couple times moving first the camper to storage in Kanab then again towing my 5th-wheel from Yarnell via the South Rim to the North Rim Grand Canyon. Love the colorful bentonite but dislike the lumpity-bumpity road.
Jeff chose #228, “the date will be my first High Tide Breakfast at the Marine Room in La Jolla.” And he had to buy shoes for this occasion which he wouldn’t have needed had he just followed this sign. 😉 A small sampling of Berta’s collection before the Yarnell fire.
Donna chose #927. My first visit to Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park in August 2009 during a bit of a storm. The visitor center has a display of sands from around the world that is quite impressive.
Pam and John chose #9199. A rather crooked fall view of Grand Canyon and beyond from the Ken Patrick trail on the North Rim in 2014.
Yogi chose #8320. Heading back to camp as the sun set at Mountain Zebra National Park in South Africa on 3-11-14.
Sherry and David chose #5746. During February 2015 I spent about a week camped at Corvina Beach along the Salton Sea in California. Now this is nowhere like the “sea” where they winter camp in Florida but water is awesome for sunsets.
Jodee and Bill chose #6001. Still at the Salton Sea, the following night’s sunset from above.
Sallie and Bill chose #3543. Last week they got the darkling beetle and this week a Kite Spider web and egg sac seen in Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa. Buggy times for them but they’re currently in Florida so used to bugs I’d think.
My choice from Wednesday morning’s camper view in Yarnell. Didn’t get much and didn’t last long. That’s OK by me.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
As always ! wonderful photo’s Gaelyn. And of course I love this weeks Grand Canyon photo’s If I am allowed 2 choices they would be, your first visit to Grand Canyon and second is the view of the Colorado River Grand National Park. Next weeks no for me 7999 please.
Thanks Rita. No bad views of Grand Canyon. Have you down for #7999.
Love this selection of photos from start to finish, maybe the spider web though is not my favourite 🙂 Love the sky shots, but think my favourite is our photo of the Colorado river, gorgeous.
203 for next week please. Take care, keep warm and enjoy the weekend. Diane and Nigel.
Thank you. That is an awesome view of the Colorado River. You get #203 next week.
Oh I love the light in the Mt Zebra National Park Photo, but I do think I won the lottery with my Grand Canyon view this time. Glad your snow is melting, we have it here as well, and so far hasn’t melted. Not normal for Grants Pass at all. I’ll chose 1980 this time, the year St Helens blew, and the day I got married in Moscow Idaho, in the dark at 2pm during the ash fall.
Glad I learned to take intentional photos of sunrays since then. The snow is gone and it’s a balmy 48° at 8am. 😀 OM, married in the volcanoe’s ash. #1980 for you.
Love all the pics, but I was expecting a selfie of you on the nude beach. So you owe me one!!
My number next week is 870. Whew, I actually came up with that on my own.
Have a good weekend.
LOL!! Be thankful you didn’t get that selfie. You, who can choose, get #870.
I guess both the Salton Sea photos are my favorites but those first two of the canyon are running close. Almost any water (dammed lakes excluded) and any Grand Canyon pictures are great by me. I’ll try 746 for next tine.
All good choices. #746 for you.
Great photos this week! Love all the Grand Canyon shots!! Our photo choice is perfect:)
#3020
Thanks. #3020 for you.
The colors in the photo Sue chose really bring out your canyon, but Yogi’s sunset pick is stunning. For next week #363 – the distance to Sloan Park the spring home of the Cubs, and the only Cactus League park left on my ‘bucket list’. Go CUBS! and PADRES!
Never been a sports fan, not even when living near Chicago. Put you down for #363.
This week, the Mountain Zebra National Park and the Colorado River photos especially spoke to me.
Next week: #937
The Colorado River view from Toroweap is like none other. #937 for you.
It’s a good thing that bugs are OK by me! And they pretty much are, all except mosquitoes. A light dusting of snow like in your last picture might be OK with me too — as long as it wasn’t any more than that!
Love the mountains and rivers too — and your friend Berta’s collection, but that made me a little sad because of remembering how much was lost in that horrible fire.
I’m really late again sorry. If you have still room I will take 3917 — last of our zip code here.
Thank goodness the snow didn’t last and wouldn’t provide enough moisture for mosquitoes. You get #3917.
