This week’s Foto Friday Fun features nine images chosen by readers including a few diverse views of Grand Canyon, baboons in South Africa, and a couple of insects.
Rita chose #20. Summer vacation 1970 probably taken with an instamatic camera. Several families, also friends, rented a row of cabin rooms along Lake of the Ozarks. We spent our days boating, skiing, and swimming.
Diane and Nigel chose #1512. Diane is quite good at capturing macros of insects so will like this walking stick. I learned to even take my camera to the bathroom when visiting Kruger National Park in South Africa. Plus, I was traveling with Joan, the Bug Lady.
Jeff chose #2010, “the year you [Gaelyn] hiked to the base of Moody Falls” from a photo last week. 2010 is also the first year I went to South Africa where I saw these baboons while hiking in the Drakensburg. They were pretty far away so I cropped the photo a bit.
Pam and John chose #4171. A week after the above adventure I was driving along the Garden Route and stayed in Hartenbos where I had dinner with this delightful sunset view.
Sue chose #1945, “the year I was born.” 2010 was a year for many adventures including my first visit and camping at Toroweap with this iconic view 3000 feet down to the Colorado River.
Yogi chose #953 with help from random dot org. These monster trucks are the mode of transportation to Antelope Canyon on the Navajo Reservation near Page, Arizona. It’s a most amazing slot canyon, and very busy.
Sherry and David chose #5155. A late light view to the south over Grand Canyon from Crazy Jug Point, one of my favorite camps along the canyon rim.
Sallie and Bill chose #9879, “a random # on a note posted on my bulletin board.” And this is a random shot taken through my RV window 4-25-15 and why the North Rim doesn’t open until May 15th.
Patti and Abi chose #570. Hard to see Weidmeyer’s Admiral butterfly on a log somewhere out in the Kaibab National Forest July 2009.
As I am currently labeling photos from March of this year my choice is a goodie from that visit to the Alabama Hills. The snow on Mount Whitney almost has a holiday feel.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Merry Christmas!
I agree you cannot walk anywhere including the loo without a camera in Africa. Stick insects are interesting creatures, but you do not want to be a male of the species!! Love that view down to the Colorado. Have a good weekend and a good Xmas. Keep warm Diane and Nigel. 2212 for next week please.
Merry Christmas to you all and may you stay warm. Have you down for #2212.
Love all your photo’s Gaelyn so its hard to choose a favourite. However, my choice is No 1945 that view down to the the Colorado River is wonderful. Best wishes to you for Xmas and the coming New Year 2018. Looking forward to more photo Friday’s.
Thanks Rita. The Toroweap view of Grand Canyon can hardly be beat. No number this week?
What an interesting week of photos! Love our sunset choice!
Merry Christmas, Gaelyn!

Thanks. #2271 for you. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you too … and thank you for sharing your adventures and talents … an all-year gift to your readers! 2018 has probably already been picked…if so just give me the number of words in this comment. About 40 I think.
Thank you for being such a faithful commenter. May you have a wonderful Christmas and a delightful New Year. I’ll give you #40.
Have yet to make take that long dirt road out to Toroweep, you have a perfect shot of it. I’ll take Christmas Day – 1225 wishing you and your readers a Merry Christmas!
The drive to Toroweap is long and gruesome but oh so worth it if you camp, need a permit, and catch sunrise and sunset. Have you down for #1225 for next week. Merry Christmas!
Ooooh, I got really lucky this time, what a great shot of the Canyon! We still have to get to the North Rim someday. I think I was there a few decades ago, but have no photo memories of that experience. Merry Christmas, Gaelyn, and I’m glad we connected on Facebook as well so I can always say something, although lately this has seemed to work just fine. Oh yes…how about 1962, the first year I laid eyes on Utah.
You really should make a visit to the North Rim. Even though the comments are working I’m glad we’re now friends on FB. #1962 for you. Merry Christmas!
My favorite this week is our picture of the Grand Canyon. Great shot but then you always take wonderful canyon pictures. I’d like #7859 for next week please. Hope you have a wonderful holiday Gaelyn!
Thanks Sherry. It’s hard to go wrong with the canyon. Have you down for #7859.
Great photos as always Gaelyn. I love the canyon photos the best. My number for next week is 7325. Merry Christmas to you!!
Thanks Yogi. You get #7325.
