This week’s Foto Friday Fun features nine images chosen by readers from my photo files including the number one photo choice for the 2018 calendar.
Diane and Nigel chose #2209, one photo of three in a panorama. They may have visited Camdeboo National Park in South Africa and seen the dolomite cliffs above the Valley of Desolation.
Jim and Diana chose #1858. This rather busy shot is driftwood at Storms River Mouth in Tsitsikamma National Park, South Africa from my March 2013 visit.
Donna chose #727. One of the field trips I went on during the 2012 Grand Canyon History Symposium toured some of the historic boats. One is the USGS Gallowy-style GLEN circa 1923 and the other is the Esmeralda II circa 1949. And now I can’t remember which one is which. I can’t even imagine going down the Colorado River in either of these boats.
Patti and Abi chose #460 from their travels in Spain. Sometimes an old Aspen really shows it’s age.
Sherry and David chose #5960. The Salton Sea can be an unusual and stinky place to visit but offers some great birding and awesome sunsets. Or at least it did during February 2015.
Jodee and Bill chose #6373. Won’t be long until they work their way into more southern and warm climates beginning to see saguaros again. Maybe they’ll even get as far south as Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument where I got this shot last winter.
Sallie and Bill chose #1001. I learned how to tie-dye from a dear friend in Cave Junction, Oregon in 2006. I know, rather late in this old hippie’s life, but…
Pam and John chose #2209. Look closely for the butterfly I saw along the Big Tree trail at Wild Spirit Backpackers Lodge in South Africa in 2006.
Yogi chose #7499. A rather unusual perspective of zebras taken from an underground birdhide at Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa in 2014. How I long to return.
My choice from the calendar collection which was the most popular choice. I ordered one calendar from Shutterfly to see how the images will look in print. I should have it in hand by the end of next week then see if I need to tweak any photos before placing a bulk order. Thank you for helping make the last photo choices. Will keep you posted.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
My favorite is the zebras! Love how the stripes line up on the two of them.
Let’s do 1837 for next week.
That was a lucky shot. You get #1837 for next week.
So many wonderful selections this week! From the tiny butterfly to the symmetrical zebras, they’re all divine. Organ Pipe is one of my favorite places in Arizona and I’m sure hoping we get back there this winter. Gorgeous saguaro and moon.
#393 for next week please.
Your track pics are some of my favorites.
Thanks Jodee. I plan to revisit Organ Pipe Cactus NM this winter. Maybe we’ll cross trails there. You get #393 for next week.
No Gaelyn we have not been to Camdeboo National Park but this is enough for me to add it to my bucket list. Love your photos and I did not realise that it was RSA until I read what you had written. Love the cactus with the moon background. I have not done tie dye in years but it is fun.
That last shot really is amazing. 2909 for next week please. Have a great weekend Diane and Nigel.
Camdeboo is huge but rather nice with wildlife and geology. You get #2909 for week.
I love the railroad shot!! And the zebra shot.
I am 4799 for next week.
Thanks. I really scored on the railroad shot. Zebras too I guess. Have you down for #4799.
Well my favorite is the calendar post. That’s just one spectacular picture. But I also love any and all pictures of zebras and sunsets. I’ve never been to the Salton Sea so I’m really happy with my picture. Saguaros are so fine and a moon yet to boot. Really great shot. I’ve never been to Oregon Pipe either. Let’s see if I can do as well next time with number 6570.
Thanks Sherry. I like that shot a lot too but don’t plan to chase train tracks. Don’t think the Salton Sea would be a great place to kayak but think you’d like Organ Pipe. You get #6570.
I had the railroad tracks as my pic for your calendar cover photo, it really draws me in with it’s symmetry and promises. My next up is the Salton Sea, it’s not for everybody but it is an amazing body of water 225′ below sea level.
For next week I’d like #1112 the model number of the HP replacement travel printer.
Just might be the cover. Have you down for #1112.
I think I’ll look for a tie-dye shirt when I’m at Eugene’s (throwback) Saturday Market tomorrow! I’ll think of you while I’m wearing it! Loved the Salton Sea reminder — we really enjoyed our stays in that area — it is unique that’s for sure. And the last is a great choice for the calendar — #54 (counted the words, so you don’t have to… I don’t do numbers very well and am out of ideas.)
I’d be honored to be thought of when you wear tie-dye. I too like Salton Sea and have been lucky most visits there. Great birding. #54 for you.
Next week #737
You get #737.
I think I’ve commented before that the Aspen tree is probably my favorite tree so I was happy to see this photo. I love them. I love when the leaves shimmer in the breeze.
I also really love the cactus and moon shot, very pretty. The desert has so much to offer.
Next week #470. Hello from Porto!
I’d say Ponderosa Pine is my favorite tree but Aspen runs a close second. You’ll love the next post with all it’s fall colors. Have you down for #470.
