This week’s Foto Friday Fun features seven images chosen by readers from my photo files that share traveling around the world.
Yogi chose #007, “because I’m watching Skyfall on the television.” Although not my favorite James Bond I’d say the globe fits in with Bond stories from around the world. Winter of 2012 I’d borrowed this light up Atlas globe from Berta to dream of travels.
Jodee and Bill chose #5494. Who doesn’t like a sunrise over water. This shot taken 2-22-14 over the Indian Ocean from the Scottburgh Caravan Park, South Africa.
Pam and John chose #9700. Unfortunately a cloudy morning for this hot air balloon ride at Pilanesberg Game Reserve, South Africa. But still a great way to watch wildlife although it wasn’t me getting aboard.
Diane and Nigel chose #909. Been seeing a lot of the Wire Pass trail lately and here’s a rock cairn so we don’t get lost on the way to Buckskin Gulch slot canyon in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in Utah.
Donna chose #707. Elephants quite frequently use the roads in Kruger National Park, South Africa, as they endlessly search for food. Best thing to do is back your vehicle away from them until they turn into the vegetation.
Jeff chose #4645, “the model number of my replacement converter.” No model numbers here, just prices and information at Wild Spirit Backpackers Lodge. During my 2013 visit the rate of exchange was about 1 to 10, so breakfast was $3-4USD with coffee an additional dollar.
Patti and Abi chose #440 from their journey in Seville, Spain. My friend Berta bought this Iranian hand woven rug from a dealer in Wickenburg, Arizona in 2008 and we are admiring it laying on the street outside the tiny shop.
My choice from last Saturday’s inversion in the canyon. I love how the clouds swirl in, out, and around the temples as seen from the North Rim lodge.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
I like the elephant, as he is as big as a 707!
Put us down for 1889, the year North Dakota (the state we are currently in) was admitted to the Union.
You get #1889 for working your way east.
Wow, did I really miss last Friday? I was on the road so I guess it’s possible. I sure love the wonderful looking Wire Pass Trail. Happy to see cairns out there too. Are they “Bates cairns” all the way from Acadia? They don’t look like it. Of course sunrises are among my favorite pictures always. I’d like 9000 for next week please.
I’ve been so far behind reading I told Nina you were still in Acadia where they currently are. Oops. It happens. Not sure those cairns weren’t “geologic graffiti” as a Death Valley Ranger called them. You get #9000 for next week.
I was too busy having a hurricane-induced tizzy fit to come by. That was stupid of me — I would have been better off to visit my favorite blogs than to sit and stew. Love the elephant and it was fun reading the menu at your SA backpacking lodge… it looks like it must have been quite good and fun. I never think of an inversion as being a good thing, but your picture makes it seem so.
I would have been like you if I lived, at least part time, in FL watching every bit of news possible. Hope your place survived. At the canyon, I think inversion is very cool.
Oh E for next week — 922
Love my sunrise over the water. The carpet looks like it could fly away at any moment and take you and Berta to magical places :-))
2383 for next week please
Definitely looks like a magic carpet. #2383 for you next week.
Love that South Africa sunrise!! Beautiful! Very cool photo of the hot air balloon tilted with the flame! Love you photo choice of the inversion:)
#1409
Thanks. I want to ride in a hot air balloon but it was more expensive there than in the states. You get #1409 next week.
That last photo of the clouds is stunning but I also love or rocky photo. It never ceases to amaze me how rocks get formed into different shapes over the years, nature is amazing, sometimes so beautiful and other times so cruel. It makes me laugh most of your sunrises are from RSA, Joan is an early riser LOL. 1509 for nest week please. Hope you have a good weekend, Diane and Nigel
Mom Nature is the best rock sculptor ever. I am getting better at sunrises here to but you are right, Joan is an early riser and how can I not when in SA. Have you down for #1509.
Nice little rug… I love the last photo, beautiful!
Next week #450
Thanks Patti. You get #450. Have fun on your travels.
You know those elephants look darn big when one is at ground level.
I’m going for 7500 next week.
That’s because they are darn big. #7500 for you.
I never seem to tire of images of red sandstone of Utah and Arizona. Perhaps someday I too will make it to Buckskin Gulch. May I have 918, Fran’s birth date next week.
I’ve been feeling a real need for some red rock. Definitely check out Buckskin Gulch. You get #918. Happy belated birthday Fran!
I liked my elephant choice and, of course, the scenery pictures.
Next week: #717
