This week’s Foto Friday Fun features eight images chosen by readers from my photo files with half the choices from South Africa. Maybe the fates are telling me something.
Diane and Nigel chose #2808 for the date of their 36th wedding anniversary. Congrats you two! Let’s try for a 2020 celebration in South Africa and maybe we can see some ostrich in Mountain Zebra National Park, or somewhere else.
Jodee and Bill chose #1217. A pretty flower on the invasive Tamarisk near camp in Dungeon Canyon on Lake Powell back in 2011. Unfortunately this stuff is all over the Southwest.
Pam and John chose #717. The magnificent view south of Crystal Creek drainage on the way to Point Sublime along the North Rim Grand Canyon in 2012.
Pam in Louisiana chose #5478. A gorgeous sunrise over the Indian Ocean at Scottburgh Caravan Park in South Africa February 2014.
Sherry and David chose #3032. Like Sherry, I take pics of signs. This one by the Great Waterfall along N12 in Meiringspoort South Africa in March 2013.
Donna chose #687. Much of the Wire Pass trail follows a wash to get to Buckskin Gulch slot canyon.
Patti and Abi chose #420. I wonder if the locals in Paulden, Arizona hang out by this old barn and what’s left of a house at 4:20?
Sallie and Bill chose #1910, the year of her Mom’s birthday and wedding anniversary in September. I visited Golden Gate Highlands National Park in South Africa a month before my birthday in 2013. Joan and I hiked in these hills and enjoyed many views.
My choice this week shows the muddy waters from the Paria River flowing into the Colorado River just down stream from Lee’s Ferry where I camped for a night after the partial eclipse and a grocery run to Page, Arizona.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Yes South Africa is calling to both of us I am sure! Love our Ostrich, and I love the sunrise over Scottburgh, Love that area.
Think though my favourite is the same as yours, having been to Lee’s Ferry I can visualise it all so well. 109 for next week please, gosh September 1 already!!! Have a good weekend Diane and Nigel.
Was delightful to sit with the river again. Can hardly believe fall is almost here already. I’m not ready for summer to be over. May be one of the reasons I dream of SA. You get #109 next week.
I plan on camping at Timp Point this weekend. It will my first time camping at the north rim, very excited! Any thing I need to know? Thanks
You’ll love it.
Plenty of excellent choices – really like the ostrich.
Next week: #697
Thanks Donna. You get #697 next week.
Love those cliffs and the muddy waters although near the bank they look a lovely green. Lovely sunrise in South Africa. I haven’t gotten myself out for sunrise yet here. It’s been so early, even for me. Beautiful picture on the way to Point Sublime. What a great name! I’ll try 7210 for next week please.
Always interesting to see the blend of colors when two rivers meet. Hard to believe you’re not catching sunrises, especially as I’ve caught quite a few lately. Have you down for #7210.
Pam and John seem to pick pictures that I like, Point Sublime is beautiful.
I’ll take 8445 the number o miles in this years road trip, for next week.
That was quite the road trip yet I’m not sure how you keep track of all the miles with all the wine. 😉 #8445 for you next week.
I love the views of the canyon especially the last one with the muddy water. I am dreaming of going back to the north rim after a 50 year absence. Hopefully you will still be there.
I am resetting at 5000 for next week.
I sure hope I’ll be here when you get here. #5000 for you next week.
We had another awesome photo choice this week. Love any photo from the North Rim. Also, really like the sunrise over the water in South Africa:)
#7119
Thanks Pam. #7119 for you next week.
I love your photos, no matter the subject.
My number for next week is 5001.
Thanks Yogi. You get two numbers this week.
I love our pick for this week! That old barn and windmill have stories to share, that’s for sure. I just want to stand there and listen.
Next week: 430
I always wonder about the old abandoned places. #430 for you next week.
Hiking in those green hills (in my photo) looks wonderful, but it is the sunrise over the Indian ocean that is my favorite this week. Stunning. I wanted to know more about the old buildings — I always take pictures of abandoned places and always wonder…..
9898 is the birth date of one of our all-grown-up-now grandsons, so I’ll choose that for my number next week.
I too always wonder about who built those places and what were their dreams. #9898 for you next week.
Now I’m missing the desert even more! And blue skies 🙂
The Tamarisk flower is so delicate. Love the ostrich, such weird birds.
You’ll be back.
