This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images from my photo files chosen by 10 readers including a concrete lady dancing.
Pam and John chose #6467. The black-bearded protea is an unusual South African flowering bush. This one seen along Grootriver Pass in Nature’s Valley. Can’t go wrong with a name like that.
Diane and Nigel chose #2104. The Owl House in Nieu-Bethesda South Africa is a most unusual place where a woman had a dream and made it into reality.
Rosemary chose #8888. Everybody talks about the Wave seen in northern Arizona. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an awesome geologic feature. However, the hike in as also gorgeous.
Mary Lou chose #4212. Seeing this flock of birds circling in Kruger National Park South Africa might indicate there’s something dead below to eat.
Jeff chose #5515, “the highest elevation we reached, near Clark Point, while hiking in Yosemite.” This sunrise over the Indian Ocean in South Africa would be a low point.
Sherry and David chose #5649. They love to walk the beach and so do I. This walk along the Indian Ocean at Wild Coast Sun in South Africa lead to some most amazing fossils.
Yogi chose #273. This snowy forest view through my RV window at the North Rim Grand Canyon September, 2011.
Donna chose #527. Most of you know I’m crazy about silver jewelry. These pins are from my large collection.
Sallie and Bill chose #424. Another snowy view, this time along the SR67 drive through the Kaibab National Forest on the way to the North Rim taken May 10, 2010.
Patti chose #250. The old and crumbling visitor center for Meteor Crater in Arizona looks rather like a native ruin.
My choice this week is last light on Wotans Throne at Cape Royal North Rim Grand Canyon from September 2016 as I just finished labeling them. I am on my way Friday to Flagstaff, then Saturday the last leg back to work at the North Rim where I will once again enjoy this spectacular view.
Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories. Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
All of the photos are wonderful, especially your choice. I am always amazed at the beauty of the Grand Canyon. Please put me down for 4282 for next week. Thanks- Mary Lou
Thanks Mary Lou. You’ll be seeing a whole lot more of Grand Canyon soon. Have you down for #4282.
Our favorite this week is your Grand Canyon photo. So beautiful, Gaelyn! This week we pick 2548, the number of miles we’ve driven since leaving Melbourne Beach, Florida on April 1st.
I’m excited to seeing the canyon again. You must be more than half way cross the country by now. Have you down for #2548.
Lots of South Africa photos this week. I find it interesting how with random number selections so many of the photos have something in common each week.
Have a wonderful trip back to the beautiful North Rim, my favorite part of the Grand Canyon, and a great season!
#4312
It’s fun to see the old shots come up but I’ve only been so many places. Hope the wind doesn’t blow me in the wrong direction today. Have you down for #4312.
I love your jewelry choices and would really love to see your entire collection. Of course I love every beach and sunset picture and was particularly taken with the statue at Owl House. It looks like a place I would love to visit. I’d like 9703 for next week please.
The Owl House was a most unusual place. Have you down for #9703.
Love your choice of the Grand Canyon. I have never been to The Owl House, a must on our next visit if we go that way. Take care driving back to the canyon with strong winds, not nice to travel in. 2804 for next week please. Diane and Nigel.
Thanks Diane. I’m waiting one more day to roll because the wind is gusting up to 50mph. Have you down for #2804.
The Owl House piece is so moving – I just love it!!
#3290 for next week please
The whole place was moving and disturbing. The woman’s story is one of sadness. Have you down for #3290.
Loved them all.
Next week: #537
Thanks Donna. Have you down for #537.
Thanks Donna. You get #537 next week.
Wow, visitor center at Meteor Crater is awesome. I wonder when it went out of service. Last time I was there was in the mid 1960’s.
I love the snowy forest scene.
My number for next week is 1273. Jumping ahead by a grand.
Whenever I come across a crumbling structure such as the one you captured this week, I can’t help but feel a little twinge of sadness for what was and I think about the stories if those walls could talk.
Next week #260 because why break up a good thing? 🙂
You know those old structures were somebody’s dream. Have you down for #260.
The sunrise over the Indian Ocean and the last light over Wotans Throne are my favorites this time. Definitely not “my” photo (and I know it really isn’t yours either)…. snow in May is just.not.right. The crumbling visitor center is interesting and sort of too bad it was let go. Hopefully there’s a new one? It really does look ancient.
Have fun in Flagstaff (or maybe I’m too late and you’re already back at work this being Monday and me being late viewing as usual). Anyway — 505 for next Friday’s date if I’m not too late. Thanks for doing this . It’s fun.
Photography really is all about the light. Right now snow only in the deep shade so not looking at it out my windows. Arrived to the North Rim Sunday afternoon. So wonderful to be back at the canyon. The new Meteor Crater visitor center was boring in comparison. You get #505.
That snowy view on SR67 drew me this week! We’ve driven that road to the North Rim several times, but would love to go early enough to see the Kaibab forest blanketed in snow or late enough for the golden aspens. This week I choose number 4371.
You almost have to visit the canyon in November to see the snow on the meadows. This year there is only patches of the white stuff under the trees. Temps have been in the 60s. Have you down for #4371.
