This week’s Foto Friday Fun features nine images chosen by readers from my photo files including my favorite summer place to shoot and back on the local RR tracks.
Pam and John chose #3666. They have been playing and weddinging on Florida beaches with more sand than Kidds Beach in South Africa. This was a place of tide pools with interesting rocks, creatures, and little fishes. Can you see them?
Mary Lou chose #1223. The return of Turkey Vultures the end of March marked the first sign of spring 2012 in the Weaver Mountains Yarnell, Arizona.
Patti chose #90, “another leap of 10 and in tribute to Christmas, 10 Lords a Leaping.” This 1961 second-grade class photo is definitely a leap into the past. Can you find me?
Sherry and David chose #7221. What better than an after monsoon rain followed by a rainbow into Roaring Springs Canyon on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park taken 9-6-14. It would be a long walk down to find that pot of gold.
Yogi chose #4397. One of the many amazing rock formations along this Utah scenic byway, the iconic Factory Butte found in Capitol Reef country as seen from a moving vehicle 10-1-15.
Gumo chose #4238, “my address.” This July scene of rain moving across Grand Canyon was taken from my North Rim summer address in 2014.
Jodee and Bill chose #7380. Cactus come in so many colors. And when wandering around my friend’s place at the Buzzards Roost I saw colors all over in more than just cactus. Plus if you’re looking for a place to overnight in Joshua Tree, California you should check out their vintage trailer to stay in.
Diane and Nigel chose #4445. If they visit Port Elizabeth during their February trip to South Africa I recommend dinner on the Boardwalk entertained by the musical light show.
Donna chose #377. My second rim to rim hike across Grand Canyon was a little easier. A visitor took this shot of me right after I topped out. Yes, I frequently hike in a skirt.
My choices from Wednesday night’s sunset at the end of the line. Makes me want to take a sentimental journey. How about you?
Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below. Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories.
Do you have a favorite this week?
This will be my last post, for 2016. I’m working on a review of this amazing, and crazy, year. A special thanks to all of you following along on life’s journey. Here’s lookin’ at ya’.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
Well I was going to say my rainbow followed by you hiking in a skirt (thumbs up) were my favorites but then I got to you last two jaw dropping photos. I give up. Why do I even attempt to pick favorites among your super photography? How about #999 for next time?
Thank you so much Sherry. I do get lucky sometimes and practice makes better as you know from your excellent photography. Have you down for #999. Happy New Year!
Absolutely love your ‘End of the Line’ photos, Gaelyn! Were you constantly looking back for trains? I would have been! 😉 Keeping on the same theme, let’s look at 1225, the engine number of the Pere Marquette locomotive used in the Polar Express!
2nd from the right at the top of the school photo?
Thanks! It’s kind of fun to play on the tracks but not many trains come this way so feel pretty safe. Wrong guess on the school photo. Have you down for #1225. Happy New Year!
Enjoyed them all- can’t pick a favorite this week. Please put me down for 7457 for next week. Happy New Year to you!
Thank you Mary Lou. Have you down for #7457. Happy New Year!
2706.
My address growing up.
Thank you!
#2706 for you. Happy New Year!
Kudos to you for that last picture. The next to last is good but the last one is WONDERFUL!
Thank you Ed. The sun finally is setting right at the end of the line.
I love the railroad shots and the rainbow shots, and all the shots. I was in second grade also in 1961 and the kids in your class look exactly like the kids in my class except I don’t see me in it.
Have a great 2017!!!
I almost forgot. My number for next week is 380 since that is the price for Natural Gas at Henry Hub, Louisiana.
Thanks Yogi. It is fun to look back. Have you down for #380. Happy New Year!
Love our photo!! I do enjoy tidal pools. And I see the fish:) Great rainbow!
Thanks Pam. Hopefully you’ll be looking at desert sand before the winter is over. Have you down for #2712. Happy New Year!
Didn’t mean to publish yet!
Happy New Year, Gaelyn! Wishing you a wonderful 2017 full of adventure and great health:)
# 2712
Sorry, I have not left planet earth though my body feels like it has. December 22 I started coughing badly and my lungs and body felt like I had been hit by a sledge hammer. With my history of pneumonia I took to my bed for 4 days and barely moved. N and FIL went out for the pre-booked luncheon on Christmas Day. 26 December I dragged myself out of bed to cook a pre-planned salmon lunch and I just managed to get by before collapsing back into bed again Meanwhile both FIL and N started with heavy colds. What a disastrous trip to the UK!
We had a dreadful drive home with much of the view being freezing fog. We both slept for 13 hours last night and I suspect that tonight could be a repeat of that.
We will not be going to PE in Feb but the musical fountain in Centurian near Pretoria I think is is much the same.
4446 for next week please. Happy New Year from both of us to you and Bill.
Oh Diane, I am so sorry to hear this. Sick is not good any time but worse when away from home. Hope you and Nigel recover soon. Haven’t seen the Centurian fountain. Have you down for #4446. Happy New Year to you both!
I would like to enter #1220 for nxt week. Have never entered before. That was a really good looking class of kids. I couldn’t pick you out.
Happy New Year.
Thanks for joining in Rosemary. I was top row, 4th from the left. Have you down for #1220.
Oh my gosh, I love the 2nd grade class photo! I see from your comment above that you were the 4th from the left… I missed that one, I was going to guess top row 2nd from the right. Oh well… both cuties! Thanks for sharing, so fun.
Next week I’ll stick with my leaps of 10. #100
You really know how to pick these oldie shots. Let’s see what #100 brings next week.
Next week I choose #387
OK, #387 it is.
Happy New Year to you too and I loved all the pictures here (and also the rest of your year’s review when I went back to it)…. you are such a good writer. I’m pretty sure I’m too late for this week’s Friday Fun, but now that the Holidays are over I will be back into the routine and won’t miss another one. Thank you for all your posts. (and please put me on the pre-order list for your next year’s calendar).
I’m sure to post when calendar’s are ready for sale.
