This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by nine readers from my photo files including some Christmas memories.
Mary Lou chose #7572. Sherry wondered if elephants spray water so look closely for it. It’s like being at a playground to watch elephants at a water hole in Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa.
Pam and John chose #1216. Before the Yarnell Fire I used to walk up into the Weaver Mountains regularly. The dried Century plants are the tallest thing around but the trail will take me a little higher for a big view into the valley below.
Jodee and Bill chose #6951. Last year Bill and I spent Christmas at his son and DIL’s in Spanish Fork, Utah where the snow was deep. I hope this year in Kanab, Utah isn’t quite so white.
Diane and Nigel chose #4444. This shot of Wotan’s Throne was taken a year before their visit this summer to the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park. I love July monsoon.
Donna chose #367. Not the best shot but I sure like the contrasting Christmas colors of the House Finches seen at my Yarnell feeders from January 2012.
Sallie chose #75, “the number of words in this comment (thought I’d save you the time counting, for a change).” Twas the night before Christmas… well not really but that’s the story I portrayed in my craft store windows in Tonasket, Washington back in 1985.
Sherry and David chose #5217. A wonderful winter hike with flowers and Mountain Sheep along Palm Canyon Trail in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California during February, 2015. I’d like to return to show Bill this amazing landscape. He likes deserts with few trees and the only places their are trees here is at the few oasis.
Yogi chose #3974. This European Roller is pretty enough to be a Christmas ornament as are so many of what I’d consider exotic and colorful birds seen in Kruger National Park, South Africa. Maybe minus the meal worm.
Patti chose #80 in her jumps of 10. This scanned photo from 1987 shows one of my stained glass pieces on display at the Wenatchee Washington Junior College.
My choice from a drive last week of the Weaver Mountains in Peeples Valley. Haven’t been out shooting much lately.
Please join in next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below. Thank you for playing along with Foto Friday Fun which allows me to share these photographs and memories.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Love those gorgeous elephant!! Seeing them in the wild must have been such a thrill. Great photo choice for us…I really enjoy seeing those Century plants. I so miss the desert. The Grand Canyon rain cloud is beautiful. Hope you Kanab visit is dry and warm:)
#3666
I’ll bet you are more than ready for a desert fix. Was a snowy drive yesterday but Kanab wasn’t white. Have you down for #3666.
Enjoyed all of the beautiful photos this week. You have amazing artistic abilities- your stained glass creation is beautiful. Please put me down for 1223 for next week. Happy Holidays!
Thank you Mary Lou. Stained glass was a hobby for many years but it’s not very mobile. Have you down for #1223.
Merry Christmas!
Once upon a time – a long time ago – I took a class because I thought I wanted to learn how to make stained glass. I successfully created a small piece – maybe 6 x 8 and decided I was good with that. It was much harder than I ever thought it would be and patience has never been my best character asset. Yours looks lovely!
Let’s take another leap of 10 to 90 for next week. In tribute to Christmas, 10 Lords a Leaping.
Merry Christmas Gaelyn.
I used to teach stained glass classes in my Wenatchee home studio because I had all the glass and tools that others didn’t need to buy unless they wanted to pursue the hobby. It takes lots of patients, plus cut fingers, to get it down. Have you down for #90. Merry Christmas!
Wow Gaelyn your stained glass is beautiful. So is that lovely roller. Great elephant picture. I’d love to see them spraying with their trunks. Anza Borrego is on my must get out west to see list so I’m really studying our picture. Great shot of Woton’s Throne with the rain pouring down through the sky. I’d like # 7221 for next week please. Glad to hear you arrived safely to no snow.
Thanks Sherry. I did stained glass for a lot of years to get to that point. I saw plenty of snow north of Flagstaff but Kanab is not white, until tonight and tomorrow anyway. 🙁 Have you down for #7221.
Wonderful shots, all. I have had enough white Christmas’s to last a lifetime. For next week I’m doing a register shift to 4397
Thanks Yogi. It’s suppose to start snowing tonight in Kanab through tomorrow. I could live without it. Have you down for #4397.
How about #4238, my address.
I love the monsoon photo you had today.
Thanks. Have you down for #4238.
4445 for next week please. Not feelin good with terrible cough and chest infection!!!! I am going to miss Christmas Day lunch 🙁 Hope you and Bill have good one Hugs from distance, Nigel and Diane
So sorry you’re sick. I’d send you chicken soup for the soul. #4445 for next week. Merry Christmas to you all!
Next week I choose #377
OK, #377 it is.
