This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by ten readers from my photo files including my favorite animal, a rusty old ride, and more.
Mary Lou chose #2337. While her mother worked, little Bongi made friends with everyone at Wild Spirit Backpackers Lodge. So when several of us gals headed to the beach we took them both along. Bongi was timid of the waves at first but we all joined hands and jumped over the little waves together and giggling with delight.
Diane and Nigel chose #5552. About the only time I regularly see sunrises is in South Africa. Even when not on safari my time clock changes from home life. Camped along the Indian Ocean at Scottburgh Caravan Park the morning greeting seemed to last for hours. What a marvelous way to greet the day.
Pam and John chose #8236. One of my favorite shots of my favorite animal seen in Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa. Also one of my favorite national parks.
Sallie chose #9999. What a pleasant surprised to see a heron and wetlands in the desert of Tecopa, California on the way to Death Valley.
Sherry and David chose #916. Just never know what might be discovered while hiking the Weaver Mountains in Yarnell, Arizona. I’ll bet it has a story to tell. Anybody know what it is?
Donna chose #257. I’ve spent a lot of time watching the winter birds through my RV windows in Yarnell and the quail are always entertaining.
Patti chose #4215. This road lead me to a magical land nestled in the Amatola Mountains of South Africa. Hogsback may have been the setting for Tolken’s Hobbitown. If not, it should have been. I’m sure I saw fairies.
Jodee and Bill chose #2305. Camdeboo National Park in South Africa offered not only game drives but an exciting view over the Valley of Desolation and a nice sunset on the way back to camp.
Yogi chose #666, and I’m sure the little devil has chosen this number before. The way water carves the sandstone in Buckskin Gulch slot canyon is amazing. And sometimes something gets left behind.
Barb chose #12 because one of her grandsons just had a birthday. Happy belated Jack from Mesa Verde National Park! As a Ranger at Mesa Verde duing the 2005 summer season I not only lead cliff dwelling tours but put in some hours at the awesome museum.
My choice from watching the antics of an Abert squirrel at the KOA Flagstaff last week. I’m more acustommed to seeing the subspecies of this tassle-eared squirrel, the Kaibab, on the North Rim.

Do you have a favorite this week?
Love that sunrise, something I seldom see nowadays but when I was working used to see them every day!! That shot of the quail is great, the one looks like it is jumping around a bit 🙂 Great set of photos 5553 for next week please. Hope you and Bill are both well. Diane and Nigel.
Thanks Diane. One of the best sunsets ever. Have you down for #5553. Hi to Nigel, and you of course. 😉
Thank you for sharing your awesome photos. I really enjoyed the sunrise and sunset . Please put me down for 6947 for next week.
Thank you for the lovely comment. Have you down for #6947.
I enjoy all your photos but I really like the picture of the ranger bird at Mesa Verde. I’d like 5453 next week,
Thank you Jean. Have you down for #5453.
Another great group of pictures. Can’t possibly choose. I really love that elephant picture, well every picture you take of elephants. How fantastic to see them in person. Another love is the sunrise over the Indian ocean what a gorgeous shot. Love seeing you at Mesa Verde and what a great smile from little Bongi. May I have # 5656 for next time please?
Thanks Sherry. How I’d love to return to South Africa to spend time with the elephants. Their social structure is amazing. We humans could learn a lot from them. One of the best sunrises ever. Guess I should wake up earlier to catch more. Have you down for #5656.
Wondering if you are back in VA or headed south?
I can not tell you the exact model year of the old vehicle but I am reasonably sure that it is an International truck from some year in the 1920s. The picture does not provide a lot of clues but the fenders are what leads me to that educated guess.
Thanks for that guess. As I remember it had a flatbed but there weren’t a lot of pieces left. Yet I noticed it had that fine wire across the top of the long gone windshield. Not too many roads near there.
The NYMEX price for Natural Gas is $2.96 so my number for next week is 296.
My favorite is the South African sunrise followed by the KOA squirrel in Flagstaff. My brother and I had a rip roaring time at that campground in 1966, I am sure they are still talking about us.
KOA almost didn’t let me in when I told them we are friends. You two must have really caused an uproar. Have you down for #296.
Another outstanding group of photos:) I LOVE elephants so this was the perfect photo for me:)
#1928
Thanks. I so want to return to South Africa and watch the elephants. Have you down for #1928.
Love my photo this week, it looks like a road with a good story to tell. So green! And, I agree, the abandoned vehicle has some great stories to tell.
For next week, my choice is #930.
Most roads have a story to tell. Have you down for #930.
Hmmm. How about 912 in memory of my sweet dog Molly? Love the photos!
Thanks Anne. Have you down for #912.
Love our delicate sunset. So many wonderful pics as always – Bongi is delightful. 960 for next week please.
Thanks. Have you down for #960.
The sunrise was magnificent. And little Bongi… precious. Kids are so photogenic.
Next week: #267
Bongi was a kick. Have you down for #267.
it’s really really harder than ever to choose a favorite this week Gaelyn. I do love wetlands — and so the surprise of seeing one near Death Valley was a great one for ‘my’ picture. Bongi is so sweet and it makes me smile to think of how she will remember you. Then of course there is the elephant picture … and Mesa Verde memories, and …. (loved it all, every single picture). Thank you as always. And I will choose 1251 .
Thanks Sallie. I love these memories. Have you down for #1251.
