This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by eight readers from my photo files including Grand Canyon, South Africa and a blast from the past at Oregon Caves.
Mary Lou chose #812. These Long-billed curlews were a first sighting for me when visiting Mom in San Benito, Texas 3-18-11. They hung out in the yard next to my camper.
Jodee and Bill chose #4757. From last year’s Heritage Days, Hopi Ramson Lomatewama demonstrating glass blowing. This is the artist I bought my beautiful corn maiden from as seen in this year’s post about Heritage Days.
Patti chose #8629. A tree decorated with Weaver nests on the dunes on the way to Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa taken 3-18-14. How I long to return.
Diane and Nigel chose #6665. A rock outcrop along Forest Road 246 on the Kaibab National Forest, Arizona. How I love to explore the forest’s scenery.
Sherry and David chose #46. Fun times at Oregon Caves back in 2006 after I lead a living history lodge tour. Steven and Kristen dancing in their costumes, my boss Tom in uniform (his dog Pedro), and yes that’s me dressed as a character from the past complete with gray wig.
Yogi chose #4449. While visiting Port Elizabeth in South Africa February 2013 I enjoyed this music light show at the Boardwalk mall so much I returned the next night. And dinner at the Greek place was delish, also two nights in a row.
Pam and John chose #8146. The brilliant fall colors worn by aspen two years ago along Forest Road 270 on the Kaibab National Forest. Won’t be long now before the colors return.
Donna chose #207. After last week’s photo from the bottom of Grand Canyon she wondered if I made it back out. Well this is proof I made it at least part way with a shot (actually one of two in a panorama) looking down on the Devils corkscrew along the Bright Angel Trail taken on Cinco de Mayo in 2008. My mantra for the long climb: “Salty, crusty, margarita.” with every step I took.
My choice, a gorgeous view of light and shadow as rain teases over the Grand Canyon. Took this shot Monday while touring a VIP group from the National Park Foundation.

Do you have a favorite this week?
Enjoyed all this week’s photos. My favorite is your choice of the Grand Canyon. Please put me down for 8192 for next week.
Thanks Mary Lou. Have you down for #8192.
Everything is back to normal! I got the email for the post!!
We were there a couple years ago to see all those spectacular golden aspen…unbelievable beauty!! A sight to behold:)
What an interesting and different group of photos this week! I enjoyed the variety:)
# 0819
Well that’s one problem solved. It’s beginning to feel like fall already so anticipate colors before too long. Have you down for #0819.
Great set of photos as always. Weaver birds are one thing I really miss here in France, I could sit and watch them making nests for hours. Think I am going to have to take my laptop into the shop, back on the Nexus again. Something is bugging the laptop but what I do not know!! All the sixes for next week please 6666. All the best to both you and Bill, Diane and Nigel.
Thanks Diane. Weaver’s are very fun to watch. Bummer about the laptop. Have you down for #6666. Hi to Nigel.
As usual, they are all great photos. I like the one with Fall color because I’m for Fall.
For next week I am at 267
Thanks Yogi. It’s beginning to feel like fall here and I’m not quite ready for summer to be over. Have you down for #267.
Great shots again this week. Do you think you’ll head back to South Africa next off season?
My number for next week is 827.
Thanks Patti. I’d like to return to South Africa this winter but not sure yet. Have you down for #827.
I seem to always like your choice. That’s a beauty. But I love the picture of the long billed curlews. How in the world do they operate with bills that long? Great shot of the light show. Must have been a lot of fun, just like seeing you in the gray wig! Love it!
Thanks Sherry. Those curlews were a kick to watch stick those long beaks in the soil. No number this week?
I find glass blowing fascinating and love that this is the same artist who blew your beautiful Corn Maiden! The curlew are so cute 🙂 Lots of fun in this week’s picks. 2787 for next week please.
I learned to blow glass decades ago but it’s really not a home hobby, especially in a RV. Have you down for #2787.
I look forward to seeing some pictures of Fall colors.
Next week I choose #217.
I hope that salty, crusty margarita made it all worthwhile.
Don’t think fall is too far away around here. I didn’t even drink but the mantra got me up there. Have you down for #217.
Fun collection as always; it’s neat to know you enjoyed the light show and a good restaurant meal as well as the stunning scenery and wildlife in SA. . .. i’m entirely too late as always; i’ll get back into the swing of Foto Fun Friday one of these days.
Thanks Sallie.
