This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by nine readers from my photo files including wildlife, doggies and old shots from Mt. St. Helens.
Yogi chose #287. Lots of snow falls at Grand Canyon during winter and this shot was taken 2-22-10 on the South Rim. Also lots of work to de-snow the truck so I could drive home.
Mary Lou chose #7459. A very muddy water buffalo seen after wallowing on the edge of a waterhole at Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa taken 3-6-14. The mud bath doesn’t look like it did much for de-wrinkling skin.
Pam and John chose #6183. Some unidentified mushrooms along the Suspension Bridge trail in Tsitsikamma National Park taken 2-26-14. They looked rather yummy but I didn’t try them as I don’t know my South African fungi.
Sherry and David chose #9876. The golden light on these dry grasses intrigued me and I like to play around with close-ups. Kind of funky maybe. Saw these next to our camp at Tecopa hot springs campground in California 2-16-16.
Diane and Nigel chose #6663. This plaque was posted in the Paria Cemetery after a flood destroyed many of the headstones. Mormons tried unsuccessfully to homestead near the southern Utah Paria River which flooded regularly.
Sallie chose #8139 for her husband Bill’s birthday. Happy Birthday Bill!!! Wish you could be celebrating at Grand Canyon where I’ve been seeing skies like this one taken 8-9-15.
Jodee and Bill chose #108. Don’t have an exact date for this old shot taken in the 1990s when I worked at Mt. St. Helens National Volcanic Monument.
Patti chose #119. From the same era as above of my ex-husband hiking the Norway Pass trail at Mt. St. Helens. The wildflowers were crazy in the blast zone.
Donna chose #197. I really like the silhouette of this unknown shorebird at Navajo Lake on the Dixie National Forest. Camped here back in 8-4-09.
My choice is the doggie pile on my couch last week while sitting for a fellow Ranger. Stevie, Molly and Penny made themselves at home.
And I just couldn’t resist sharing this shot of tourons, way too close, watching a bison crossing the road on the way to the North Rim.
If you’re reading, commenting or just following along please join in for next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below. A big thanks to everyone for playing along with Foto Friday Fun and allowing me to share these photographs and memories.
Do you have a favorite this week? I love the low numbers which bring back long ago memories.
I like the dog pile pic, reminds me of our three dogs. I like 283 for next week.
Sure was fun to have dogs around the house. Have you down for #283.
Enjoyed them all- can’t pick a favorite. Please put me down for 731 for next week.
Thanks. Have you down for #731.
Oh, that opening photo is wonderful!! I would love to put myself on that hood and feel that chill:) Another great week of fabulous photos. I like our little mushrooms on the wood…my kind of landscape photo:) I bet you had a great time with your furry friends:) They look like they belong.
Thanks. But I don’t savor that kind of cold. Really nice to have doggies around.
That is a wonderfully artistic mushroom photograph. Just beautiful. Love the buffalo butt. As for our buffalo and those folks, you just can’t cure stupid. Wonder who they would sue if he charged them? Also love the silhouette on the lake. Beautiful shot of Mount St. Helens. Those doggies look right at home. Seems they’ve taken over your sofa.
Thanks Sherry. It’s probably not easy to sue yourself when you own a national park.
Surely I can’t be the only one to notice those short shorts on your ex 😉
Well he did have good legs. 😉
Tourons! LOL
Still having problems but eventually managed to get into comments, sure it is Google! 6664 for next week please. Love the dogs sleeping on the couch, not much room left for me 🙂 Good that they remember the people after the floods. Tourists are mad, and when someone gets killed the animal is shot!!! Hope all is well. Miss you and Bill. Take care D & N
I just can’t figure out the comment problem. Thanks for being persistent. Was much fun having the doggies around but no room on the couch, or barely the bed, for me. We’ve been lucky the bison haven’t hurt anybody, yet. Miss you too.
Have you down for #6664.
It’s amazing that you have 25+ years of photographs – so wonderful!! Especially like the grasses in front of the water and the delicate mushrooms. I agree with Pam – that frozen hood looks inviting today 🙂 #512 for next week please.
I scanned a lot of photos years ago. You and Pam must be cooking to want to lay on that snowy hood. 😉 Have you down for #512.
I liked #197 so much that I’m going with #198 just to see what came next
OK Donna, we’ll see what comes next with #198.
It took me a minute to think about “tourons” but then the meaning (which is too perfect) came to me — I’ve seen a few too many of those myself and helping them isn’t even part of my job! I bet you hate that part of it.
I kind of wish Bill could have celebrated his BD where my choice was taken too — (because chances are he would have taken me along and it is truly beautiful)…. but we did celebrate it with family so that’s good too.
Thanks for the Mt St Helens memories too … and for the places we haven’t been as well!!
Thank goodness there aren’t too many idiot tourons. Glad you had a happy birthday celebration.
ooops forgot — how about 9999 because I might be last.
Have you down for #9999.
