This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by nine readers from my photo files including desert, lake, forest, stream, mountains, and stormy skies above Grand Canyon.
Mary Lou chose #7222. The water carved sandstone reveals many shapes, colors and textures along the upper Buckskin trail in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness of southern Utah. This shot from last year July was a warm day with a slow walk between shade with many discoveries along the way.
Pam and John chose #1928. A place they’ve seen before with Bill and I. But this shot of Bill at White Pocket in the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument was taken on our first date in May 2015.
Jodee and Bill chose #82. Maybe not the best view for Jodee who is afraid of heights. Looking down I think about a 30 foot ladder to access Balcony House, the adventure tour at Mesa Verde National Park from when I worked there in 2005.
Donna chose #177 shot at Crater Lake National Park 9-14-07.
David and Sherry chose #8172. This is one of seven shots taken in a panorama of the ‘dancing’ fall aspen on the Kaibab National Forest two years ago. I marvel at the brilliant coins of gold that shiver and rattle in the slightest wind.
Diane and Nigel chose #6662. A view they may miss as much as I do. The Indian Ocean is a constant view at Tsitsikamma National Park in South Africa. This shot was taken from the Waterfall trail 2-8-14.
Patti chose #1996. A sweet little butterfly seen along the Echo Ravine trail in Golden Gate Highlands National Park in South Africa 2-13-13.
Sallie chose #101. Hope you can see Carson hauling a big stick out of Cave Creek in this old shot from 8-31-07. I lived next to the creek when camphosting just down the road from my Ranger job at Oregon Caves National Monument.
Yogi chose #4419. Raven and I watched the stormy sky from Cape Royal overlook on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park last July.
My choice from this week’s day off watching monsoon storms build up over Swamp Point and the Muave Saddle in the far distance from Crazy Jug Point on the Kaibab National Forest.
If you’re reading, commenting or just following along please join in for next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below. A big thanks to everyone for playing along with Foto Friday Fun and allowing me to share these photographs and memories.
Do you have a favorite this week? My favorite is of Carson even though not a great photo it brings back some very happy memories.
I apologize if anyone is still having problems leaving a comment. I am open to suggestions. Please let me know via this link if anything weird is happening. Thanks.
I love all your shots but the special one is the quaking aspen. Too long since I have seen such a sight.
My number for next week is 287.
Seems like a fall trip is in order to see the aspen turn gold. Have you down for #287.
I love them all. Please put me down for 7459 for next week.
Thanks Mary Lou. Have you down for #7459.
What are the chances I would pick a number for a place where we met! Love the White Pocket:) Great array of photos. I love the beautiful aspens, as well:)
#6183
Thanks. You just have that kind of luck. Have you down for #6183.
Wow Gaelyn, so many great pictures. Pretty sure they are all my favorites. How can I choose? Love my yellow aspens. Good selection on my part. Also love the carved sandstone and Bill at White Pocket. Of course anything with the canyon in it and especially those clouds is wonderful. I’d like #9876 for next week please. Hope I do as well as this week.
Thanks Sherry. Have you down for #9876.
Commenting now on my Nexus, my laptop and windows 10 will not allow me to! How I miss that area and the Indian ocean one day I hope we will get back before we are to old to travel! 663 for next week please. Love that last shot :). Diane & Nigel
Sure wish I could figure out this commenting problem. I want to spend more time around Tsitsikamma hiking. Have you down for #6663.
Oops finger problem! Supposed to be 6663!!
I love hopping around with you. The best armchair travel in the world is right here on Friday. Thank you for my Oregon picture — that was appropriate for me right now — and I linked to your memorial post to sweet Carson — this is a lovely picture of him having fun in that stream (of course I saw him).
All the pictures are great — I especially enjoyed the aspens and wish we could see them again in the Fall sometime. 8139 (my) Bill’s birthday for next Friday. (I’m pretty sure I’ve done this before — choose another number if you wish!)
Thanks Sallie. Even I’m surprised when the number choices pop up. You need to come through the high elevation SW on a return to FL for those golden aspen. Have you down for birthday Bill #8139.
Oh dear! Not my best choice 🙂 But then photos are the only way I’m going to see things like this!! Love the aspens, and I realize I’m very ready for Fall. 108 for next week please.
I thought that ladder view might scare you. 😉 As much as I love fall, summer is my season. Have you down for #108.
All nice pictures. For next week I choose #197
Thanks Donna. Have you down for #197.
