This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by seven readers from my photo files including wildlife, amazing clouds, and International Hoop dancer Derek Suwaima-Davis.
Mary Lou Chose #7378. Unfortunately, not all widlife shots come out good, especially at 6:45 am. I am not a morning person, except when on safari in South Africa. I tried to capture this Red Hartebeest under dim light conditions in Addo Elephant National Park during my last visit in March, 2014.
John and Pam chose #0758. My wonderful window sunset view from Yarnell, Arizona where I wintered in my RV home for ten years. This shot taken April 22, 2014. Oh how I love my IMAX windows.
Jodee chose #196. Being along the North Rim for sunset isn’t always about the western view of the brilliant sinking sun. Instead, as this July 2012 shot to the south reveals, the play of light and shadow on the temples and far canyon wall provides a marvelous show highlighted by reflected colors on the clouds above.
Diane chose #7772. Elephants are my favorite South African animal and I could sit for hours, days and maybe weeks watching them. In Addo Elephant National Park the often large herds come down to the waterholes/dams to frolic, drink, bath and socialize. Then disappear into the bush and the next herd arrives.
Sherry chose #5196. I never tire of watching Derek Suwaima-Davis hoop dance at the North Rim annual Native American Heritage Days celebrated in August.
Sallie chose #5202. Animals frequently use roads so drivers must be watchful. This kudu at Kruger National Park seems to know the rules of the road too. Notice the oxpecker hitch hiker.
Last week Donna chose #7 and I couldn’t get back online to add her choice so this week she hung on for the same number. Not only did I enjoy marvelous sunsets through the windows of my RV home in Yarnell, Arizona, I also watched the birds, and other wildlife. Javelina would snuff up the fallen bird seed yet I was surprised to see the deer coming in for a snack during December, 2006.
My choices taken on the same day 30 minutes apart during a drive to Kanab from St. George, Utah. Clouds are so amazing.
Please join in for next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below. A big thanks to everyone for playing along with Foto Friday Fun and allowing me to share these photographs and memories.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Believe it or not, I found a spotty 4G signal when I use the laptop on the other side of the 5th-wheel’s living space, the table eight feet away from the desk. Probably steeling this signal from my neighbor’s booster. Did take time and many tries to load smaller photos than usual. But I tried to smile through it. I am an internet junkie. Hope to catch up and catch up with you all soon. Life is good at the North Rim.
Hi, glad you found a signal. I’m hoping to get back to GC next summer. How about #1313.
Thanks Teri, me too. Back to the canyon for work or visit? Have you down for #1313.
7773 for next week please. Love the photos one and all, but the elephants, and the deer at the bird feeder are brilliant. The North Rim sunset is wonderful and I only hope the strikes will allow us to visit as planned, very disconcerting no knowing what is happening! Diane
Thanks Diane, I figured you’d like the elephants. A lucky shot with the deer. Holding thumbs you will see a North Rim sunset. Have you down for #7773.
Beautiful canyon shot. Love all the amazing critters you get to see in your travels. Hope your little slice of internet stays active now :-))) 356 for next week please.
Thanks Jodee. 4G last night and 1x this morning. Have you down for #356.
Hi Gaelyn, I love those “angry” clouds you took on your ride to Kanab, Have a great day. Jo
I love the African wildlife photos, so many animals are new to me. I’ve never heard of a hartebeest or a kudu! That kudu id beautiful and I love the hitch hiker:) How sweet that the birds shared their meal with the deer:)
#5204
Enjoyed all the photos especially the sunsets. Please put me down for 1278 for next week.
Glad you were able to get a signal.
I’m glad I held out for #7 – it was worth the wait. For next time: #17
I could not be happier with my picture — a beautiful kudu and an oxpecker, a bird I’ve heard of but I don’t think ever seen even virtually. (Or don’t remember anyway). So cool. Thank you. I love all of the beautiful scenery, whether on your drives or out your IMAX window.
I’m glad you got a signal — and glad I decided to check. Yay! 1702 for next time?
I do LOVE the hoop dancer. So glad that was my choice. Hope to see the Native American danceres at the canyon again one day. I’ll try number 1916 for next time please.
I hope you visit the canyon again too, especially during Heritage Days. Have you down for #1916.
I love all your photos especially the hoop dancer. Great image of him but what got me was the audience who was totally captivated. Not a one playing wwf. Impressive.
I’m going with 4933. The Friday closing West Texas Intermediate crude price.
Thanks Yogi. Everyone is entranced with Derek’s dancing. Have you down for #4933.
