This week’s Foto Friday Fun features seven images chosen by readers from my photo archives.
Sherry chose #117. From 10 years ago when I lived and worked in Oregon and sold at the Hope Mt. Barter Faire. Lots of good music and trading went on at this hippie gathering in Takelma.
Mary Lou chose #3813. Hippos hang out in the water most of the day as they sunburn. Then they come out at dusk to forage all night.
Jodee chose #727, a shot of the slot canyon on the Wire Pass trail in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. I believe from the first time I hiked there in 2011.
Diane chose #7771. I love hanging crystals in sunny windows that bring rainbows into my house.
Yogi chose #4621, “because $46.21 was the closing price on the New York Mercantile Exchange for West Texas Intermediate Crude Oil.” Instead of crude oil this image shows low clouds in Grand Canyon seen from the Walhalla overlook.
John and Pam chose #7432, a Fiscal Shrike seen in Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa in March 2014.
Sallie chose #666, “feeling devilish.” Nothing devilish about the gorgeous fall colors seen on the Kaibab National Forest. This from September 2012, but they look pretty similar every fall.
My choice from our recent fast drive to the South Rim and back to the North Rim when stopping at Navajo Bridge of which there are two bridges, one to drive and the older to walk.
Please join in for next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below. A big thanks to everyone for playing along with Foto Friday Fun and allowing me to share these photographs and memories.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Hi Gaelyn, I love your Friday Foto Fun posts. The last one of the two bridges between the North and South Rim. Have a great day. Jo
Thanks Jo, I love to share the memories.
Loved them all. Please put me down for 7378 for next week.
Thanks Mary Lou. Have you down for #7378.
All the stars aligned so you were able to publish on Friday:) Another great Friday of photos!
I didn’t know that the hippos got sunburned. Love that photo with just those “heads” peaking out:)
#0758 because that is the present time:)
I posted from Bill’s. Have you down for #0758.
We had to miss Escalante NM when we re-routed so this week’s pic is a nice surprise! Looking forward to getting there in the future. Love Sherry’s sun god dude – what fun times those must have been 🙂 196 for next week please.
You’ll love Escalante. Barter faires are a gas. Have you down for #196.
I want one of those, would love rainbows in our house 🙂 Love the fiscal shrike, long time since I have seen one of those 🙁
The grand canyon shots never cease to amaze me, I hope we have lots of changes in weather while we are there so we see it all! I am being greedy! 7772 for next week please Diane
My photo is great fun! He looks huge. Great pictures today. Love those hippo ears. So funny that they sunburn. Nobody is trying to sell them SPF 50. Love the canyon and clouds picture too and of course every slot in the world. I think I’ll have 5196 for next week please.
Thanks Sherry. That huge dude brought back great memories of Barter Faire. The hippos are smart enough to just stay out of the sun and not use chemicals. Have you down for #5196.
Love “my” Fall color! It’s absolutely the loveliest season. Would love to walk that bridge in your last picture. What a wonderful thing that would be. Love the bird of course and amazed with the hippo ears and the info that the sunburn!!! Thanks for sharing all the wonderful memories. How about 5202 please.
Fall on the Kaibab is fantastic. Have you down for #5202.
Well, I’ll stick with lucky 7 and hope you’re luckier with the signal this week.
🙂
Thanks for your patience. #7 this week.
Beautiful pics as I have come to expect from you. I love “my” pic especially of the canyon. The Navajo Bridge pic caused me a start. I’m trying to remember if there were two bridges the last time I went across it (about 50 years ago). I don’t remember two bridges so maybe, (and I’ve learned that memory is a very strange thing) my family drove over the old bridge.
Thanks Yogi. The second Navajo bridge was built in the early 90s so it’s very possible you drove on the old bridge.
I love 4621. What a gorgeous view!
Thanks Janie. No bad views of Grand Canyon.
