This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 13 readers from my photo files including a special video.
Mary Lou chose #2032 from my second visit to White Pocket in the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument in May 2015. Now I’ve been three times and want to return again.
Shadowmoss chose #0324, a heart-shaped spillway at the end of the Toadstools trail Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Utah from 9-3-15.
John and Pam chose #1441. They love to hike canyons but I wonder if they’ve ever been to Kaskaskia Canyon in Starve Rock State Park, Illinois. This may have been where I fell in love with canyons in my youth. This shot was taken when I returned for my 40th High School reunion in September 2012.
Cheryl chose #423, a Bee-eater. Just one of many birds seen in Kruger National Park South Africa when I visited in 2013.
Diane chose #9996. Hope she gets to see inversion, and maybe lightning, during her visit to the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park this summer. I’ve tried to take stills of lightning without success but video works when I have patience.
Sallie forgot a number so I chose #90 for the amount of words in her comment. She likes birds so this female Broad-Tailed Hummingbird should fit the bill. Taken through my RV window back in June 2009 at the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Karen chose #1952, “my birth year.” These fall colors on the North Rim from 9-29-11 should be familiar to her from working at Grand Canyon.
Sherry chose #4950. This young male lion was seen 2-8-14 in Kruger National Park South Africa. Notice the beginnings of a mane?
Yogi chose #7991. My favorite animal seen in Addo Elephant National Park South Africa during March 2014.
Jodee chose #857. Yet another Grand Canyon view for her this time from Hermits Rest on the South Rim Grand Canyon National Park back in January 2012.
Barb chose #212, a sunset view from Bright Angel Point Trail North Rim Grand Canyon taken 10-3-11.
Donna chose #1. And Denali was definitely my #1 dog. Here she is only 2 months old taken in Wenatchee, Washington in 1981. Being half German Shepard and half St. Bernard she eventually got Much bigger.
Shane chose #6345, an interesting cave I’d like to explore someday seen along the Cottonwood Road in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument 7-15-15.
My choice this week is a recent sunset from the RV in Kanab, Utah.
Please join in for next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below. A big thanks to everyone for playing along with Foto Friday Fun and allowing me to share these photographs and memories.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Had to send camera and lens back in. Specific lens not auto-focusing, other lenses are, and two large pieces of dirt seen in the eye view finder but doesn’t show up on images. They just cleaned it. Will be a month before getting it back.
And, my almost new laptop died yesterday that will cost 100s to be cleaned up. That won’t be happening for a while. Should be interesting trying to post here from my phone.
Rant over.
LOVE my LION! And the elephants and the view from Hermit’s rest and Bright Angel point. Obviously I need to come back to the canyon and go to Africa. Why wasn’t I doing all of these things when I was younger and had time stretched out before me. #1716 for next time please.
Yes, I believe you do need to come back to the canyon, and South Africa too. Have you down for #1716.
Enjoyed all the spectacular photos. I can’t believe your recent bad experiences with your camera and computer! Please put me down for 1647 for next week.
When it rains it pours, huh. Have you down for #1647.
Like every photo, there is something about elephants I love. I choose 427 for next week.
Thank you Jean. I love elephants! Have you down for #427.
We’ve never been to Starve Rock SP but another blogger did a post from there and I Pinned it for a future visit when we travel that way. It looked like a neat place.
Loved the video!! We saw a draping cloud in Lone Pine and now I know what it is called!! Thanks!
Safe travels today:)
#5987
You’d like Starve Rock. I was lucky with the video. Have you down for #5987.
Wow even managed to watch rhat with the slow connection here, fabulous. A great selection of photos. Posting from the nexus is bad enough, i cannot imagine what it is likefrom a phone!! I hate computers when they do not work and I have regretted ever changing to Windows 10. Sorry about the camera, it seems to be taking forever. Safe trip back to the North Rim, hope it is not too cold! See you soon 🙂 9997 for next week please. Diane
Hoping I don’t have to use the phone to often for posting. I don’t mind Windows 10 too much but that laptop will have to wait until I get paid for repairs. Made it to the lovely North Rim and even have intermittent signal. Have you down for #9997.
Denali edged out the Bee-eater for cutest, and that last photo from Kanab beat even my wonderful canyon pic. Such a rich variety your eyes have seen 🙂 057 for the age Prince was when we lost him yesterday.
Deanli will always be my favorite dog owned. Have you down for #057.
Love my hummingbird — I couldn’t have chosen a better number (thanks for doing it for me). From the tiny to the gigantic — my heart also beats faster at the picture of the elephant family! That is so wonderful.
Sorry ’bout that last paragraph — you must feel like your whole life is falling apart (at least when I have computer problems that’s what I feel like ….then I have to remind myself about what is really important.) Still …. …
Before I forget again, 7021.
Thought you’d like that hummingbird. And who doesn’t like elephants. Arrived to the North Rim fine and even have an intermittent signal. Have you down for #7021.
Aw, Denali – such a cutie-pie.
For next week I choose 9999
She was the best dog I’ve ever had. Have you down for #9999.
Hi Gaelyn, I love all your Grand Canyon photos, especially the cliffs at White Pocket. You were blessed to see the European Bee-Eater. And Dinali, well that’s my favorite photo. Did she travel with you in your RV? Thanks for sharing a world that I wouldn’t know about if not for your posts. Blessings Jo
Denali was pre RVing but she liked to go boating and was difficult to get out of the water because she loved to swim.
So sorry about the camera and computer crapping out on you. Frustrating to even read about.
I love all the photos. I’m getting curious about the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.
What the heck, I’m going to choose my own number this week. 5000.
Thanks for your sympathy. The Grand Staircase is vast and deserves much exploration. I feel like I’ve barely scratched is red rock surface. Have you down for #5000.
