This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by 12 readers from my photo files including several multiple animal shots from South Africa.
George and Suzie chose #1648, one of a two photo panorama. Shot this view northwest from Deer Creek Road in Hillside, Arizona 3-31-12. You can just barely see a house on top of the right knob. This was from a back road trip after a pizza lunch in Congress then a 60 mile scenic drive back to my Yarnell home.
Shadowmoss chose #1223 which sort of looks like a push me pull you. But it’s actually two giraffes seen in Kruger National Park South Africa 2-8-13. Much like zebras, no two giraffes are marked quite the same. Can you spot the difference?
John and Pam chose #4321. In the desert Southwest where they frequently travel there are many interesting lizards, but none like this Rainbow skink seen in Kruger National Park South Africa 2-15-14.
Mary Lou chose #1252. A rather fuzzy photo of the Grand Staircase-Escalante in the distance while driving SR89A still in the Kaibab National Forest 8-31-12. I try this shot a lot and don’t think any have come out better.
Diane chose #9995, one of seven photos in a panorama. While camping and birding along the Salton Sea at Corvina Beach last February my favorite light of the day was sunset.
Yogi chose #8797. This shot from 3-19-14 of the Gemsboks in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park South Africa was photo bombed by a bird. Honestly, it’s not a spot on the lens, it’s a bird.
Barb chose #1253. After all the snow she’s experienced this winter in Colorado maybe this flowering pincushion cactus, and bug, from the Weaver Mountains in Yarnell, Arizona taken 3-28-12 will remind her that spring really is on the way.
Sallie’s husband Bill chose #7632. The most common view of elephants, walking away. This group was seen at Addo Elephant National Park South Africa 3-6-14. Seems like I have a lot of butt shots from safari rides.
Donna chose #1960. While visiting Zion National Park with fellow blogger Bibi during June 2014 I decided to try for a reflection of the golden cliffs along the River Walk Trail. Note, I said “try”.
Shane chose #1440. Now you can see how zebra’s stripes are all different from each other. This dazzle of zebras was seen in Kruger National Park South Africa 2-9-13.
Sherry chose #4212. While traveling in South Africa in 2013 one of the many places I visited was The Edge Mountain Retreat in Hogsback where I walked a labyrinth and stopped by The Dreamery Store. Of course I found a piece of jewelry to buy there.
Jodee chose #677, a view of the Colorado River she may have seen last week while visiting the South Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
My choice this week is the 9-23-12 Grand Canyon view from the North Rim that I’m looking forward to in a week’s time. Home Sweet Home, for the next six months.
Please join in for next week by leaving a number between 1 and 9999 in your comment below. A big thanks to everyone for playing along with Foto Friday Fun and allowing me to share these photographs and memories.
Do you have a favorite this week?
I am happy to report my camera has returned all shiny and clean. Seems the focusing problem was a user error when I changed some setting and turned off manual focus. Duh.
Enjoyed all of your photos. Thanks for sharing. Please put me down for 2032 for next week.
Thanks Mary Lou. Have you down for #2032.
‘Spot’ the difference? I see what you did there. 🙂
Put me down for 0324. Yes, I’m doing various family/friends’ birthdays.
Tee hee. Have you down for #0324. Two days before my birthday. 😉
#1441 I am hoping for another zebra photo:) I am so glad there were lots of animal photos. Love seeing them:) I always thought zebras were black on white. The guys in today’s photo are more orangey tan. I assume I need to get out more!?
Love the photo of the giraffe…so sweet:) And Mr. Lizard is very cool. Would love to see him here.
Good luck heading back to the North Rim:) Hope you have a wonderful season with lots of intelligent tourist that have interesting questions;)
Zebras are white on black and these were rather dirty looking. Don’t think you’ll see any of these near Moab. 😉 One more week in Kanab. Have you down for #1441.
Love your panaramic north rim photo. Please, put me down for #423.
Have a great time there, too.
Thanks Cheryl. Have you down for #423.
Thanks! That’s my birthday. : )
Mmmm I always love sunsets, hard to beat a good photo of one and these are superb. Love the skink and of course the photo of the the North Rim. Great shot as well of the Gemsbok. 9996 for next week please. We will be away, but I will catch up before the following Friday. Have a good return to the North Rim, hope it is not snowing!!! Take care Diane
OH my gosh is winter over already? Back to work soon for you — and that really really does not sound like a bad thing. So beautiful there. Loving all the pictures — kind of spacing out looking at the giraffes and zebras and noticing the differences. Bill always laughs at me for all the butt shots of birds I take — so he deserves the shot of elephants that he “chose” . (But he would be thrilled to see them in real life from any angle, as would I.)
I could hardly work/play in a more spectacular place. Bill forgot to give you a number. 😉
I love all the animal shots. I have another blogger friend who always shows an animal butt shot at the end of her posts, and titles them “The End”. LOL. I want to see #1952, my birth year.
Sometimes butt shots is all ya’ can get. Have you down for #1952. Thanks.
Love all the animal shots. Those elephants would make the best THE END shot ever taken. I remember your posts from the Edge Mountain Retreat and I thought at the time that I would love love to go there. Wish we had something like that in our neck of the woods. Gorgeous picture of the long suffering Colorado in her beauty. Can’t believe you are going back to that fantastic Grand Canyon in just a week. Snow there still??
Thanks Sherry. I really hope to return to South Africa next winter to see more animals, butt or not. One week from today is the move. Think there will be a little snow there but am not sure. No number this week?
Oh shoot – again. I get so carried away enjoying the post that I forget to say “may I have #4950” for next week please.
You’ve got #4950.
I love them all but the elephant butt shot is my favorite. My number next week is 7991.
Elephants are my favorite in every direction. 🙂 Have you down for #7991.
Love that there were so many animals this week – what a treat every one of them. Love my river shot as we are still nearby at Lake Mead, and headed out to see more of it next week 🙂
I love when the South African animals pop up. Check out the Lost City Museum in Overton. Have you down for #857.
Again! Don’t know what I could possibly be in a hurry about 🙂 857 for next week please.
Look at that cactus – just what I need today. Love the giraffe pun and the backview of elephants. Still snowing, but it can’t last forever. Right?? I’m trying to comment on the iPad – I think it might work…
(212)
Glad to brighten your day with green, instead of white. I really don’t think it can last forever. Others not having a problem commenting so I’m at a loss. But this did work and I appreciate your persistence. Have you down for #212. May spring come your way again soon.
All so lovely, Gaelyn. My favorite is of the gemsbok in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. It looks as though you caught a bird flying past the one buck’s horn. It’s quite an incredible photos. Thanks for sharing. (((hugs))) Jo
Yep, a bird photo bombed the gemsbok. How I miss SA.
Beautiful photos, as usual.
This week I choose #1
Thanks Donna. Have you down for #1.
The zebras are hypnotizing, but the elephant butts have to take the cake this week.
#6345 this week, please.
As you know, watching wildlife is always amazing. Have you down for #6345.
I love the giraffes, elephants, and zebras. They’re all great photos.
Thanks Janie.
