This week’s Foto Friday Fun features images chosen by eight readers from my photo files including photos from travels and home.
George & Suzie chose #0918. Crepuscular rays break through dark clouds over the Vermilion Cliffs as I drive by on a late August day going from Flagstaff to the North Rim back in 2012.
Mary Lou chose #7370. Lots of bugs on this unidentified succulent taken somewhere in South Africa. Maybe someone can identify this.
Pam chose #2040 and I think she’d like to hike here. Golden Gate Highlands National Park in South Africa offers a wonderful combination of green on red rock. We had comfortable day temps but a cold night even in South Africa’s February summer day in 2013.
Sherry often gets so excited about the photos she forgets to leave a number. Her comment had 67 words and that brings an oldie shot from 2005 of Carson guarding my old 5th-wheel in Yarnell, Arizona. This shot makes me both happy and sad.
Diane chose #8009. Hopi artist Ramson is also a teacher and encourages expanding the traditional arts among his people. He’s demonstrating the art of glass blowing at the 2015 Native American Heritage Days at the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Sallie chose #0363, “in honor of our middle son’s March birth month and year.” I hope he likes this windshield shot while out on a drive just north of Yarnell, Arizona on the Wagner Road back in December 2011. BTW, my birthday is this month too.
Barb chose #0025, the San Juan Mountains in her home state of Colorado. When I worked at Mesa Verde National Park this was one of my playgrounds.
Teri chose #1120. She should identify with this as she spends much time along the Gulf coast in TX yet there it’s sand instead of rock. This scene, among 100s of others, was taken while relaxing at Tsitsikamma National Park South Africa during March 2013.
My choice overlooking the badlands at Zabriskie Point from a recent visit to Death Valley National Park to see the Super Bloom.
Please join in for next week by leaving a number between 0001 and 9999 in your comment below. Thanks for playing along with Foto Friday Fun and allowing me to share these photographs and memories.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Love all the pictures especially ours at the top.
793
Thanks. Have you down for #793.
Enjoyed all the photos. Please put me down for 6470 for next week.
Thanks. Have you down for #6470.
As always, I love all your photos. But Carson is my favorite this week. Have a great weekend. Jo
Thanks Jo. That was a really nice memory.
Love the series of photos here one and all and good to see a photo of Carson. I hope we get to see some Indian crafts while there, they fascinate me. Have a good weekend 9009 for next week please. Diane
Thanks Diane. You’ll see Native jewelry I’m sure. Have you down for #9009.
Yes, I would love to hike there:)
Great hike up to Zabriskie Point. The colors throughout the park are just breathtaking. I don’t believe people realize this.
Another great collection of photos:)
Next up #2008
Thanks Pam. Just got back from Bryce and more pretty colors. Have you down for #2008.
I’m a beach guy, 1120 reminds me of some stretches in Baja.
Guess I’ve mostly seen sandy beaches in Baja.
Wonderful, wonderful! I knew I must have missed a Friday – it seemed like it had been awhile since I’d seen a Foto post 🙁 But I enjoyed all of these, especially the San Juan Mtns. We hope to spend quite a bit of time in Colorado this summer. 902 for me next week please.
Thanks. Colorado has so much to offer. Have you down for #902.
I love my windshield shot, but it makes me want to go on a roadtrip right this very minute. My favorite though is those beautiful waves at that National Park in SA. My kind of coast — wild and not a lot of people. #208 for me.
Must be time for a road trip for you. I love that SA park. Have you down for #208.
Thanks for picking a number for me. You are right, I do get so caught up in the pictures I forget SO…..#3876 for next time please. I love seeing your old 5th wheel and your wonderful companion. I am just amazed that you can remember where every one of these was taken and when. I’m not sure I could do that which is of course why I write a blog. Gorgeous shot from Death Valley and of course I’m crazy about any kind of ocean waves. Beautiful picture of the San Juans. What a playground.
#3876. I am OCD about labeling my photos. Someday I may not remember.
Hi Gaelyn (Cuz),
I like #1120. Reminds me of my time, growing up in Ventura, Calif and going to the beach a lot. The ‘Carson’ photo never opened up all the way for me to see what was in the photo. I could only see half of the person’s head. Sounds like it is a nice photo from what I’ve read about it. I’m thinking strongly to purchase a 26′ RV and start traveling around like you and do what you are doing, Cuz. I always enjoying looking at your photos that you share with all of us. Thanks, Rick
Nice to bring back those memories. Carson is a dog. Don’t know what happened that you couldn’t open the pic. The RV lifestyle is divine. Hope that works for you.
I loved my picture from last week of Augrabies Falls (I’m still catching up on things). This week I have to go with the Carson photo. I’m a sucker for dogs, especially dogs with big silly grins on their faces.
#4937 for me this week, please.
Carson always had a big grin. Miss him every day. Have you down for #4937.
Great photos as usual. My favorite is the San Juan mountains, the most intriguing is the one with “green on red rock.” And all your photos are outstanding.
My number for next week is 7884.
Thanks
Thanks Yogi. Have you down for #7884.
