This week’s Foto Friday Fun features 7 images chosen by readers from my photo files, heavy with sunsets, much light and shadow, plus throw in a lion.
Diane chose #6009, a glorious sunset over the Salton Sea at Corvina Beach Februrary 2015. This inland sea can be nasty or wonderful birding depending on which way the wind blows. I saw brown and white pelicans, egrets and herons, and walked on a beach of bones.
Mary Lou chose #4737. Last light on Wotans Throne makes the rock glow an intense orange. Taken from the Cape Royal Wedding site on the North Rim of Grand Canyon September 2014. And what a marvelous place this would be to get married.
Pam chose #5053, yet another sunset. This time over the Weaver Mountains in Kirkland, Arizona not far from Yarnell. March 27, 2013, the day after my birthday, on a drive home from Prescott I had to pull over for this marvelous sight.
Jodee chose #6963. Late in the afternoon, light and shadow play in Grand Canyon provides a fantastic show. This time there was a real bonus as light shone through Angels Window which I was standing on top of. The canyon never looks the same twice.
Yogi chose #7523. More of the last light in Grand Canyon highlights the temples and the far southern wall taken from the North Rim’s Grand Lodge July 24, 2015.
Sherry chose #6665, a touch of light and shadow contrast on a tiny creek along the Tsitsikamma Waterfall trail. This challenging trail offered scrambling over boulders plus the quiet and serene with a waterfall reward at the end.
Shane chose #7914. I’ve visited Addo Elephant National Park several times and love to see my favorite, and its namesake, animal there. Yet the 2014 visit I had the added bonus of seeing a lioness sleeping along the road. She wears a collar and may be from the reintroduction group released in the early 2000s.
My choice is a small example of petroglyphs seen in Valley of Fire State Park near Atlatl Rock not far from camp. I’ll post more about these soon.
Please join in for next week by leaving a number between 0001 and 9999 in your comment below. Thanks for playing along with Foto Friday Fun.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Do I have a favorite? Of course, they are all my favorites. There isn’t one photograph here that isn’t wonderful. I can’t even rank order. I love mine, I love the lioness and any pic of the Grand Canyon and all beautiful skies and any and all petroglyphs. Really super shot of them and the view through that window. You have such a fine eye. Let me have 9994 for next week.
You know I’m always surprised when the photo numbers come up that I don’t have more bad photos because I tend not to throw any of them away. Have you down for #9994.
Amazing photos! Thanks for sharing. Please put me down for 4214 for next week.
Thanks Mary Lou. Have you down for #4214.
Love the choices, but they are all wonderful I would have trouble choosing.
Thanks.
As always a wonderful selection Gaelyn. I particularly like the first and other sunset pictures. I always think the sky can throw up some amazing patterns.
As for next time, let’s go for 6,029 please.
Thanks. Can’t go wrong with a good sunset. Have you down for #6029.
Interesting how several of the picks were the Grand Canyon and sunsets. Beautiful photos:)
# 3538
I’m always amazed when the photo numbers pop up. Have you down for #3538.
Fabulous photos one and all. I just love sunsets and am enjoying the canyon more and more. That last photo is fascinating, the petroglyphs remind me so much of bushman paintings though they are totally different in style. 7009 for next week please, Diane
Thanks Diane. Love teasing you with the canyon shots. Seems rock art is similar all over the world. Have you down for #7009.
I’m not going to even try to decide between the lion and the petroglyph shots this week. Good ones.
#7508 this week, please.
Thanks Shane. Have you down for #7508.
Love my canyon shot with the sunlight showing up through the window. The lioness looks so peaceful 🙂 5567 for next week please.
Thanks. I do love when the canyon puts on a light show. That lioness, like many, love to sleep on the warm pavement. Makes it easier to see them in the morning and late afternoon. Have you down for #5567. Hope you’re warming up in Deming. Good luck with the repairs.
I love them all.
My number next week is 0625
Thanks Yogi. Have you down for #0625.
Wonderful pictures of adventures you’ve had and ending with a beautiful one that promises even more fascinating travels. I love petroglyphs; eager to see some more.
Thanks Sallie. I’m sure we missed many of the petroglyph panels, a good excuse to return. No number this week?
