This week’s Foto Friday Fun features 9 photos chosen by readers from Grand Canyon, South Africa, California, and Nevada. I’m a week late with this post, but it’s not timely information anyway, just for fun.
Mary Lou chose #7374, a stormy September monsoon afternoon the sky hung low over the Brahma and Zoroaster temples as seen from the Transept Trail on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park in 2014.
Jodee chose #1215, a flowering prickly pear cactus growing on the Esplande at the iconic Toroweap overlook on the north side of Grand Canyon.
Pam chose #7881. The first time I visited Addo Elephant National Park in South Africa I saw so many warthogs I thought the park should have been named after them.
Yogi chose #3940. A walk along a wash on the way to Palm Springs in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in California last year.
Diane chose #5009, a scene I’m sure she’s seen before of birds and hippos at Kruger National Park, South Africa taken in February 2014.
Anne chose #7585. More South African wildlife this time in Addo Elephant National Park from March 2014.
Sherry chose #3497, a brachiopod fossil seen along the Arizona Trail on the North Rim Grand Canyon National Park.
Shane chose #2982. John, who works maintenance at the North Rim, dressed up as Uncle Sam by his vintage truck for the annual 4th of July water parade in 2014.
Sallie chose #9999, a lovely sunset at Pilanesburg Game Reserve, South Africa taken 4-1-14.
My choice from the hundreds of photos is what I call bulls-eye sandstone along the White Domes Trail Valley at Fire State Park, Nevada.
Thanks for joining in. If you’d like to participate next week choose a number between 0001 and 9999 and leave it in a comment below.
Do you have a favorite this week?
Glad to have you back on line. What a great set of photos and as you know I always love photos of South African Wild life and there is a good selection here. The photo of the North rim off course wets my appetite 🙂 Have a good weekend, Diane 6009 for next week please
Thanks Diane. I’ve been sorely missing SA this winter. Have you down for #6009.
So glad to see you back online, Gaelyn. Only in the highveld of South Africa is the sunset so beautiful and only in America do you have such majestic mountains. Love the images as always. Have a great weekend. Jo
I sure miss those SA sunsets.
Enjoyed all the beautiful photos. Please put me down for 4737 for next week.
Thanks Mary Lou. Have you down for #4737.
This photo idea is such a great way for us to see where you have been and for you to revisit all the wonderful places you’ve spent time:)
Weren’t the colors marvelous on the backside of the White Dome trail as you are heading out from the slot! If you return, park by the little Wash 5 sign and head right (if you are heading into the trails). Walking that wash is like going through a bubble gum factory with the colors of creamsicle, lavender, sea foam green, and bubble gum. It is true eye candy:) Mark from Box Canyon turned us on to that wash.
Number 5053
I liked the White Dome trail a lot, except for being crowded. Would definitely like to just take off into the VOF country. Have you down for #5053.
Love my bloom – we’re already seeing signs of color in the southern AZ desert. The warthogs are both frightening and beautiful – how amazing to see all the animals you have in the wild! 6963 for next week please
I’ll be following the desert bloom site and hopefully heading back out to maybe Anza-Borrego and/or Death Valley in the next month or two. Have you down for #6963.
I like’em all especially the critters and my favorite is the sunset.
I’m 7523 next week!!
Thanks Yogi. Have you down for #7523.
Storms and beautiful sunsets get me every time. I’m really happy to see the elephants and hippos in the wild after seeing them in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It’s a great place for them IF they cannot be in the wild where they belong. And for next week how about 6665.
Although wildlife at Disney isn’t too bad I’d rather seem them in their own wild. Have you down for #6665.
Great to have you back!
Fine selection of photos this week. I hope you’ll be putting together an entry for the Valley of Fire. That’s a great teaser photo you’ve selected.
#7914 for me this week.
Thanks. Nice to be back. I’ll try to post about Valley of Fire next week. Have you down for #7914.
All the pictures are nice from all over the world, but I am partial to the North Rim shot of the Grand Canyon. That place just amazes me like no other.
Thanks Gary. I’m rather smitten by the North Rim and look forward to a spring return.
You know I love my” sky — beautiful sun. Love all the pictures; I think your choice is fascinating.
Thanks Sallie. More of the crazy rock formations coming. No number this week?
