This week’s Foto Friday Fun features 8 images chosen by readers from my photo archives. Our meme number for this week is 0569. Please link in any day this week by digging into your archives and sharing a photo and story on your blog. Plus check out the other posts linked to the Foto Friday Fun meme.
Mary Lou chose #0569. Last year around this time Berta and I flew to Portland, Oregon then rented a car and drove down the coast to Bandon where we explored the Coquille River mouth from the south jetty along with other beautiful coastal locations.
Jodee chose #1107. This was the first time I saw these sandstone tee-pee rocks along Johnson Canyon Road in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Utah. I’ve since been by them several times and always have to take photos of these interesting rock formations. Some places are definitely worth return visits.
Diane chose #1008. A far western view from the top of the Weaver Mountains located in my backyard when parked in Yarnell, Arizona for the winters of 2005-14. This was always a favorite place to hike in that area.
Sherry chose #8397. Mountain Zebras are seen all over Mountain Zebra National Park in South Africa, but so are many other animals as well.
Sallie chose #2015, “First thing that entered my stream of conscience.” This is a familiar view streaming past the Vermilion Cliffs on SR89A as I head east to either Page or Flagstaff, Arizona to shop when I’m on the North Rim.
Shane chose #3839. I’d driven mountain passes in South Africa all day and past many wineries so when I stopped for the night I was looking for a winery to stay at so I could actually sample without having to drive. But there was no room at those inns so I settled with the working Rodene Farm where I had a large delightful cottage to myself and enjoyed sunset at their dam while savoring the fresh picked pears.
Yogi also chose #2015 as “It has been a good year so far so why not.” Not that this hasn’t been an absolutely awesome year, but so was my 2013 when I traveled with Joan in South Africa and one of the places visited was Golden Gate Highlands National Park where the geology reminded me very much of the more familiar American Southwest.
Bibi chose #4082, “the last four digits of my cell phone #!” I carried no cell phone while traveling in South Africa or I would have instantly shared this mythical morning view of the Hogsbacks from the front stoop of my Never Daunted cottage.
My choice this week from Monday’s hike into upper Buckskin with Bill and fellow blogger Suzanne from Take to the Highway. Sure is fun sharing southern Utah’s glorious landscape.

Do you have a favorite from this week?
2008 for next week please before I forget!!! I love each and everyone of these photos, they are all beautiful, I really cannot pick a favourite, they are amazing views. Have a good weekend Diane
Thank you Diane. Have you down for #2008.
Hi Gaelyn, I love the rugged coast of Oregan. And then the soft rolling hills of the Golden Gate Highlands National Park. Have a great day. Jo
The Golden Gate hills make me want to return to SA.
My number is 2515.
Have you down for #2515.
Good ones again, Gaelyn, that for sure bring back lots of memories. For next week, put me down for 1412, which is the time as I type this, using the 24-hour clock=14:12
Thanks. Have you down for #1412.
The beach near the Coquille River was a definite favorite during our summer on the Pacific Coast – already a lovely memory. Love my sandstone “teepees”, imagining their color changing as the sun moves across the sky. 95 for next week please.
Love the entire northern Pacific Coast. Nice to gather those memories. Seems Bill and I always get out in the middle of the day when the color and light just isn’t very exciting. Oh well. Have you down for #95.
Few drives are as nice as the one on 89A alongside the Vermilion Cliffs, at least that I’ve experienced. That’s a long haul to get to a Walmart, though. Your picture captures the colors well.
#6772 for me, please.
Hmmm. I was just thinking that every road I’ve ever driven in Utah and Northern Arizona was pretty amazing.
Thanks Shane. From the North Rim it’s a long haul to any adequate shopping through beautiful country. Have you down for #6772.
Your pictures are just so crisp and clear. The colors so brilliant. They are all just a pleasure. Love my zebras and that Oregon coast, oceanoholic that I am. I’d like number 0555 for next week please.
Thank you Sherry. Thought you’d like that coastline. Have you down for #0555.
Lots of beautiful scenery everywhere you go! I love the Southwest landscapes (whether they are in the US or in SA)…. and the zebras. And the fact that you’re having so much fun enjoying Utah. So beautiful.
Thank you Sallie. I like to think there’s beauty everywhere (almost) if we open our eyes to it. But for zebras… 😉 It could take a lifetime to learn southern Utah.
Great images yet again. I love them all.
Lets see, next week, how about 5000, a good round number.
Thanks Yogi. Sure is fun to see some of these pics pop up. Have you down for #5000.
