This week’s Foto Friday Fun only includes 2 photos chosen by readers. Thanks for playing along. If you want to leave a number between 0001-9999 for next week I’ll try to put this together. No guarantees.
Shane chose #4305, a marvelous display of speckled weavers on a a fountain at the Gelbek restaurant in West Coast National Park, Langebaan, South Africa taken 3-14-13.
Elaine chose #6464, a lovely Black-bearded Protea seen along the Grootriver Pass in Nature’s Valley, South Africa taken 2-27-14.
Life Changes
Seems there’s a lost of interest in choosing numbers for Foto Friday Fun so it must might be changed or go away. I’m seeing a whole lot of life changes coming my way so a lot of things are going to change. Regular readers already know I’ve met a very nice man and Bill and I have been spending a lot of time together over the last four months. My summer season rangering at the North Rim Grand Canyon will be over October 17th so I’ll be moving my wheelestate. I’ve applied for a Forest Technician job for the Forest Service in Fredonia, AZ, about 80 miles north of the North Rim and nine miles from Kanab, UT where Bill lives. Will know if I got the job in a couple of weeks so more on that if it happens. It does look like I’ll be moving my 5th-wheel to Fredonia one way or the other.
The best news is, Bill and I are taking a mini-vacation from September 27-October 1, camping our way in southeast Utah and heading for Hovenweep National Monument for the 27th lunar eclipse. Other possibilities could include Natural Bridges National Monument and Canyonlands National Park. I’ll most likely be without an internet connection most of the time. That’s OK, as I love to connect to nature.
Catch up with you soon.
I am so happy for you! And I hope you get the job. Sounds to me like you have some exciting moments ahead for you. The life of a gypsy is always full of surprises:)
Thanks Chris. It’s been an awesome summer getting to know Bill and exploring southern Utah.
well, I love birds and flowers but the fountain shot is beautiful for the way you have captured the water droplets. terrific photo. enjoy your camping trip!
Thank you Christine. It was a lucky shot.
Oh wow, Gaelyn, I’m so happy you’ve met a good man. (I hope he gets to like South Africa like you do! ) And I hope you get the job. You know I visit your blog regularly, but for the life of me, I cannot work out how to join. But that’s just me. I hope more people continue to play along with your numbers. Enjoy your mini-vacation. Remember I’ll be watching the lunar eclipse from this side of the world too! Jo xxx
I hope to get him to South Africa eventually. Just have to leave a number to join in. Enjoy the eclipse.
We are so happy for you! Bill is such a nice guy. Hope the job comes through. And have a wonderful trip! Look forward to hearing about it after you get back.
Yes he is. Crossing fingers for the job. I’ll probably be posting for weeks after this trip.
Oh no! Say it isn’t so!
I’ve enjoyed playing along with this game. It often takes me to photos I’d have never considered posting otherwise. I sometimes find a new appreciation for a photo I’ve passed over previously.
Anyway, if it goes on count me in for #8680. If not, it’s been a fun ride and I’ll certainly continue to follow along on your adventures.
Well I’d like to see Foto Friday Fun continue but really need more participation to make it work. If it happens, have you down for #8680.
Wonderful news for you. Enjoy your mini vac. From all your posts Bill seems like a lovely man. A dog lover too….. someone to enjoy the great outdoors with.
Blessings on you both.
Rosemary
Thanks Rosemary.
I hope everything works out for you. I don’t think I’ve ever picked a number, but if you decide to keep doing this, I like 444. I few times I have thought about linking to your blog on Fridays just to get me blogging again.
Thanks Teri. Maybe you should think about linking in to Foto Friday Fun. Have you down for #444.
Hey Babe great news all around. Hope you get the job and we look forward to meeting Bill in the future.
We will be watching the eclipse from here in the Bitter Root Valley in MT. House sitting for friends.
Safe travels and we look forward to future posts after your return.
Hugs,
Shirley and John
The job will have a 4 month winter furlough so hope to see you sometime this winter.
Wow. So much going on and all good. Really happy for you 🙂 Have a wonderful holiday, even though I will miss you! (Says the person who hasn’t blogged in 3 months LOL)
Thanks Linda. I’ll have lots to post about after this little trip. Hope to see you posting again soon.
Now that is a total surprise! Good luck to you and your special one…..
Thanks Nan. Hoping we’ll be visiting Anza-Borrego this winter.
while I haven’t picked a number or even commented much, I love seeing your photos. You have a good eye for photography, and most all of your images are beautiful and interesting.
So glad to read that you are going to Fredonia to be closer to Bill over the winter. I worry about you a lot, and miss you too. I’m picking #718, which is Jims and my anniversary.
Thanks for commenting Karen. Without you this blog would never have happened. Hope you received The Wave photo I sent. Very happy to be closer to Bill. Miss both of you too. Have you down for #718.
Gaelyn great news from you on the home front and good luck with the job. Hope it happens. Have a great holiday in October. Sorry I missed a week but life was very hectic here to say the least of it. I must get my act together and catch up with blogging, even my diary has missed a few days over the past month with being busy an having no connection for a week. 0087 for next week please.
Take care and have a great weekend Diane P.S. Please let me have your new address when you have it so I can send you postcards.
Thanks Diane. Having too much fun is a great excuse for missing blogging. Will send address when I have one. Have you down for #0087.
Can’t believe I forgot a number last week 🙁 But your expected news makes up for it tenfold! Life will always change and it’s delightful that this change is such a nice one. Have fun on vacation.
Thanks. Am so looking forward to this vacation.
SO happy for you Gaelyn. Life can be full of surprises, some not so good as ours and some fabulous like yours. I too am finding lack of interest even among formerly frequent commenters. I’ve been thinking it may be time to quit. I will miss photo Friday and not hearing from you. Best of luck of luck in with the job, the travels and the FUN!
Life is surprises. I really hope you don’t quit blogging as I love to go along on your journeys. Seems I have enough numbers to make Friday go again, if I can find time with vacation.
Well, I am soooo happy for you! I hope that you get the job so you can move closer to Bill. They would benefit from your presence….and so would Bill. 😉
If you do do the meme next week, I’ll choose 1012 for a reason I’ll reveal to you in an email….oh, the suspense….
Thanks Pat. Have you down for #1012, and looking forward to hearing why.
My number pick is 0524
Have you down for #0524.
Things change, here at work they say “embrace change” I’ve learned to do it, kind of.
I’m trying to embrace change, kind of.
The idea of the lunar eclipse sounds like a fun choice. We visited there last year. It is a relatively small park but very interesting and full of history.
Best to you in your upcoming winter adventures and work. Hopefully the Gov. will not do as it did in 2013 and you can finish the year at No. Rim on a positive note.
Happy news about your future plans and mini-vacation (which I see is just about over by now. I know you had a great time. I’ve been offline for a while because of a move not nearly as exciting as yours (but a small adventure for old folks like us)….. anyway, definitely not because I had lost interest in FF — or in your blog. Hard to enter when your computer isn’t hooked up yet. All is back on track now and I look forward to reading about where your adventure takes you.
Your life changes sound wonderful. Hope the job in Fredonia works out. We went to Hovenweep last fall and had a great time.
Hope you had a good view of the eclipse and an all around fun experience.
I can’t believe your season is nearly over. This year has gone by in a wink of an eye for me. My job is keeping me very busy and life in general is hectic. It’s feels like everything is going by in a blur and some days I can’t keep up. Reading blogs is one of the things I’ve had to cut back a bit which means that I’m not that up to date with everybody. So curious about Bill. Clearly I haven’t been visiting that much over the last four months and I feel ashamed about that. I do try to follow a bit but still. I hope you land the job which will bring you closer to him. Does that mean you won’t return to Grand Canyon next year or would the job only be for the winter?
“Forest Technician job for the Forest Service in Fredonia, AZ” What does a Forest Technician do? Sounds interesting.
This recreation job entails managing the Jacob Lake visitor center, outreach, environmental education, interpretation and issuing permits. Full-time, permanent with benefits and a four month furlough. I scored “Best Qualified” out of 22 applicants and am still waiting.
