Sallie forgot a number so I’m giving her the amount of characters in her comment as #323. This is a view of the Painted Desert along State Route 89 north of Cameron, Arizona along one of my many drives between Flagstaff and the North Rim.
Diane chose #0057, a Grey Go-away bird seen at the food concession in Pilanesberg Game Reserve, South Africa. They weren’t really begging but did look for food scraps dropped around the picnic tables.
Elaine chose #7070 for seeing double, like Yogi last week, in celebration of her birthday this summer. My birthday month last year, Joan and I camped at Karoo National Park and saw the morning light as we went out on a safari drive.
Sherry chose #8370. Tried to be artsy at Moran Point on the South Rim Grand Canyon where I celebrated my birthday this year.
Shane chose #8819, this remote rock farm house was occupied during WWI housing a guard and his family to protect waterholes before becoming Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa.
Yogi chose #4040, “Cuz I’m mathematically minded today since son has started school and we are knee deep in Algebra.” Which he finds fun, although I do not. Instead I liked being knee deep in brush having fun and enjoying the expansive view from St Patricks on the Hill in Hogsback, South Africa.
My choice this week from Thursday’s walk to Toadstools in the Grand Staircase-Escalante where Bill practiced with my camera. Guess I need to set up the self-timer and get us both.

Do you have a favorite from this week?
The Grey Go-away bird is interesting. Its call gives its name. Love the toadstools. Have a great weekend. Jo xxx
Fun birds.
A great set of photos and I love the loerie. We used to have them around our house and it is one bird (amongst others) that I miss. Have a good weekend, Diane 0067 for next week please. We will be away next week with little or no internet but I will catch up on our return.
Thought you’d like the Loerie. Have fun on your travels. Have you down for #0067.
A grey go-away bird? Love that name.
#2692 for me this week, please.
The grey go-away bird says “go-away” and is also called a Loerie. Have you down for #2692.
Sadly, “go away” is a term our dogs actually understand. We love ’em, but sometimes they can be a bit smothering. I feel bad whenever I tell them to go away and they actually do. I wish something like “stop licking my nostrils” or “please remove your tongue from my ear” or “it really hurts when you stomp on that particular place on my body” would work as effectively.
Love those beautiful clouds in your first show over that beautiful landscape and the sunlight shining over the park in Karoo. I think my picture is very artsy – artistic is what I mean and so is the farmhouse shot. I like the off center with the rock fence. Bill did a good job of the last one and I do think you need to use your timer so we can see you both. I’d like #2049 for next week please.
Thanks Sherry. I’ll try a timed shot of the two of us one of these days. Bill is getting less shy around the camera. Have you down for #2049.
Love to see all the shots of Africa, especially that amazing one from Karoo. Missed last week visiting the grandbaby so this week I’ll take 021 for how many days old he is now 🙂
Glad you got to visit with the new grandbaby. Have you down for #021.
Great post as usual Gaelyn. I love the one you picked for yourself and I appreciate you sharing it instead of keeping it.
My number is 2626 cuz Wednesday is Heather and I’s 26th Anniversary and if I had to do it over again I would.
Thanks Yogi. I think you and Heather make a great couple. Happy Anniversary!!!! Have you down for #2626.
I couldn’t have chosen a better number myself! Thank you for doing that and for the picture of an area that we’ve actually seen and loved!!! Your commentor above answered my question about the name of the go-away bird! So interesting. Enjoyed every minute of you tour down your wonderful memory lane. Glad you are still making memories and look very happy doing so in that last shot! And yes you do need a timer — I’d love to see a picture of both of you! And oh yes, how about 1940 for my birth year (I just celebrated a birthday.)
I love collecting, and sharing, memories. And yes, I’ve been collecting quite a few lately. I’m working on Bill for selfies. Happy Birthday!!!!! Have you down for #1940.
Another great selection of photos! Love the morning light at Karoo.
Thanks Elaine. No number this week?
