This week’s Foto Friday Fun features 6 images chosen by readers from my photo archives. Our meme number for this week is 0047. Please link in any day this week by digging into your archives and sharing a photo and story on your blog. Plus check out the other posts linked to the Foto Friday Fun meme.
Diane chose #0047 from Wupatki National Monument taken April 1, 2015. Although this looks like a stark dry land Native people once lived here dry farming in the shadow of a volcano.
Jodee chose #1889 when an old building in Port Townsend was built that she recently visited. I bought this, not that old, Mexican sterling silver broche with an amethyst stone at a Prescott, Arizona thrift store. You know, a woman can never have too much jewelry.
Shane chose #8505, a view of the Colorado River from the South Rim Grand Canyon where I spent my birthday this year.
Yogi chose #6060, “cuz I’m 60 years old and repeat myself all the time.” He’ll also celebrate his 60th birthday for 60 days, cuz that’s the way he goes. So what better than this birthday wish I received at Augrabies Falls National Park in South Africa last year.
Jonker chose #7654, a panoramic view looking up the Paria River Canyon during a recent visit to Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, in Bill’s Utah backyard.
Melissa chose #906, a late March sunset in Chino Valley, Arizona.
My choice this week, this reflection pool shows off the layers of sandstone bedding planes near the iconic Wave in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness, Arizona which I still have to post about but seems I’ve been a bit busy having fun instead of posting.

Do you have a favorite from this week?
I’m glad you’re having so much fun (as long as you have time to share the beauty once in a while ;>)!!!
I,m loving everything as usual, but especially your choice — how I want to visit there (but I will settle for seeing your posts and more pics for now). And also the panorama shot — what a fantastic backyard!! Wow.
I can hardly tell you how much fun I’m having, especially on days off. And will continue to share. No number this week?
I gotta go with the sunset photo this week, just so pretty! But, I’m also looking at that 60th birthday plate because I’m on a 4-month count down until I step into my 6th decade, something I have not yet wrapped my head around. Sixty was my mother, couldn’t possibly apply to me! 😉
60s are great!!!!
Wow what a great set of photos but I agree that water reflection is something else. That rock formation is amazing. Have a good weekend, 0057 for next week please. Diane
Thanks Diane. The sandstone sculptures by Mother Nature are indescribable. Have you down for #0057.
After taking a prolonged summer vacation from blogging, I’m checking back in. I’ll have to go back and catch up on your summer activities. Nice selection of photos this week, but I really like your choice with the reflection pool. Wonderful! I’ll go along with Yogi and choose 7070 for next week since that’s the birthday I celebrated this summer.
Welcome back. Look forward to reading about your summer vacation. Have you down for #7070, belated Happy Birthday.
Oh dear it appears my lack of internet caused me to miss last week so first off let me choose 8370 for next week. And now I’ll say that these pictures are great. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a more gorgeous picture of the Colorado and the Canyon than the one in today’s post. Also love the way you have directed my eye right through that window in the Wupatki National Monument. And the clouds…….fabulous. You just knocked me out with that last one. I thought it was Antelope Canyon. Now I have two spots that just make me ache with longing. Just stop it now!
Thank you Sherry. I sympathize with the internet problems which I seem to have more of lately at the North Rim. May be why I’m way behind on reading, and posting. Plus another “distraction”. 😉 Gotta’ love the sandstone sculpting. Have you down for #8370.
Two things:
1. Great Wave photo. Let’s get crackin’ on that blog entry! 🙂
2. I really like that Grand Canyon photo. I’m never confident with my own Grand Canyon photos if I’m not showing the sky. Here you don’t show it and it’s wonderful. Maybe that’s a weird thing, but it’s inspiring to me.
#8819 for me this week, please.
Sorry I’m so far behind posting, the Wave will come I promise. Guess I’ve just been too busy having fun. It’s hard to shoot the canyon because it’s so vast and I usually take big landscape shots with sometimes dramatic skies. But close ups are fun too. Maybe you need to stretch a bit. Have you down for #8819.
Great images yet again. My favorite is the last. My number for next week is the 10’s complement of this week’s number or 4040. Cuz I’m mathematically minded today since son has started school and we are knee deep in Algebra. I just don’t understand why he doesn’t see how much FUN math is.
Thanks Yogi. I’m with Logan and find algebra confusing. A + B will never = C in my mind. Have you down for #4040.
Gaelyn, your photography has gotten SO GOOD. I’m loving catching up on your summer travels. I feel like i haven’t read anybody’s blog since spring and am having a fun catch-up day today =)
Thank you Kristin, that means a lot coming from you. I too have had trouble keeping up blog reading, and writting, due to having so much fun.
I mean, why sit indoors reading about other people’s travels while you can be out doing your own, right? =)
In all honesty, though, for me the death of Google Reader (RIP) meant a severe decline in blog reading because I’m not seeing people’s posts updated on my homepage every time I log in. I’m trying to be better about checking my Feedly once a week, but often forget anyway—nothing will ever be as great as Google Reader was for keeping up with my virtual friends’ lives!
