This week’s Foto Friday Fun features 6 images chosen by readers from my photo archives. Our meme number for this week is 0027. Please link in any day this week by digging into your archives and sharing a photo and story on your blog. Plus check out the other posts linked to the Foto Friday Fun meme.
Diane chose #0027, a full pool held by the barely seen dam wall in Pilanesberg Game Reserve.
Yogi chose #167, “for the number of pics I took in Idaho last week.” This Yarnell, Arizona scrub jay seems to have a look of disbelief that you only took 167 photos in such a beautiful place as Idaho. But the ones you’ve shared have been wonderful.
Jodee chose #934 as the time she left her comment. I’m thinking this rusty truck is from the 1930s. Wonder how long it’s been setting up on the Weaver Mountains where I hike from Yarnell.
Sherry chose #6471. Because she loves flowers of all kinds I’d love to share the Black-bearded Protea seen near the coast in Nature’s Valley South Africa.
Shane chose #2369, taken not far from the previous photo when visiting Nature’s Valley the previous year when I stayed at Wild Spirit Backpackers Lodge and went to the nearby beach with other guests.
Sallie chose #9999. I see more sunsets than usual when on safari in South Africa, like this one at Pilanesberg Game Reserve.
My choice this week, a most unusual optical illusion when rain fell between canyon formations on the far South Rim making them appear closer than usual.
And, a peak across the Virgin River valley near Zion National Park where Bill and I drove earlier this week on the Smithsonian Butte Scenic Backway between SR9 & SR89 on the border of Utah and Arizona. Yet another place I hope to post about soon but I seem to be busy having fun instead of writing lately.

I love the optical illusion over the South Rim. I love them all! Have a great weekend, Gaelyn. Jo xx
That was one of the most unusual views of the canyon yet.
Your last pic is mesmerizing – so many colors! Growing up in the desert, we often came upon old rusty equipment and vehicles near the many deserted mines. We would make up stories about why they were abandoned. Thanks for a perfect pic with good memories :-)) Love the happy on the beach too! My grandson was born this week, so number 812 for his birthday please.
Love the idea of making up stories from the rusty rigs. Have you down for #812.
Wow that picture of the dam brings back some wonderful memories. Love the shot of the rain in the canyon, that is very special. All great shots as always. 0037 for next week please. Enjoy the weekend Diane
I have never seen that kind of illusion in the canyon before. Glad the dam brought back memories. Have you down for #0037.
WOW to that last picture! And I love the joy on the beach. That’s just how I feel on every beach I visit. Can’t wait to get back there this winter after spending the summer in the mountains. I’ll take 8405 for next week please.
Nice to be able to enjoy both the mountains and beach, plus deserts are nice too. I could have sat and stared at the view for hours, days even. Have you down for #8405.
Are you using any filters in those last two photos? The sky is so dramatic in both of those. Very nice.
#2989 for me this week, please.
Just my usual polarizer filter. The skies were dramatic in both those instances. Have you down for #2989.
I’ve been using a polarizing filter for the last year or so. Love it. I suspected you were using one as well, but I wasn’t sure if that was the case or if your Nikon was just better with those types of skies. I love my Canon, but I always suspect Nikon might be a little better at certain things. Anyway, love those shots, especially the clouds over the canyon.
Another set of great images. That last one is my favorite, the desert, the mountain, the sky, it all comes together in that one.
My number for next week is 747, just cuz.
That view is to die for! Have you down for #747.
I feel terrible I got so far behind and missed two whol weeks. I love my sunset! I’ll come back this Friday and pick a # for next time.
See ya’ later this week.
