This week’s Foto Friday Fun features 5 images chosen by readers from my photo archives. Our meme number for this week is 0607. Please link in any day this week by digging into your archives and sharing a photo and story on your blog. Plus check out the other posts linked to the Foto Friday Fun meme.
Diane chose #0607, probably a familiar bird to her. This Giant Kingfisher always seemed to hang out above the flowing water in Kruger National Park in the hopes of catching a fish below.
Sherry chose #3892, a view of the Great Thumb jutting into Grand Canyon from Jumpup Point, the most remote place I’ve been along the North Rim. Though the road was so bad I may never get back there again without 4×4.
Chris chose #9876, one of my favorite places to camp and hunt for fossils, Marble Viewpoint on the Kaibab National Forest. You can see for miles.
Jodee chose #702, “for our first day in Oregon.” This close-up of sandstone was taken on my first hike into Wire Pass that connected to Buckskin Gulch Slot Canyon. I just love the sculptural shapes of the eroded rock.
Yogi chose #203, “for the number of pics I took in western Oklahoma visiting family this past weekend.” And that was 4th of July when this shot was taken after the 4th of July water parade at the North Rim from 2013.
My choice this week from an adventure this week with Bill and Sasha at Crazy Jug Point. Two fronts swept across the plateaus and canyon bringing lightning I didn’t capture. More shots as the storm approached in a post next week.

#1953, my birth year
Thanks
I’m a year older than you. 😉 Have you down for #1953 for next week.
Thank you so much for taking me to a place on the north rim I may never ever get to see since as of yet I don’t have a 4 wheel drive. Just beautiful as is that kingfisher. Can’t wait to see you other approaching storm pictures. The one you closed with is fantastic. I’d like to have #8290 for next week please.
Ruby will make it to Crazy Jug. This storm was SO awesome! Have you down for #8290.
Love my kingfisher, long time since I have seen one of those thanks. The canyon photo is amazing, It bring back memories of sitting in the Rhodesian coast of Kariba and watching the storms on the Zambian coast line, Never though quite as dramatic as this, 0707 for next week please. Have a good weekend Diane
I’ll bet storm watching on the Zambian coast should be on my list. Have you down for #0707.
Wonderful sandstone, and another great example of nature’s story telling 🙂 I love watching storms come across the landscape – you captured a really beautiful one! #1210 for Tessa’s birthday for next week.
There will be more storm shots coming, it was awesome. Have you down for #1210.
I love the idea of a water parade in arid areas or places where quiet is the norm.
I’m going to with 1847 because it just popped in my mind.
It’s really fun and doesn’t put us at risk for fire. Have you down for #1847.
LIghtning sorta’ scares me, thinking about you being out in it (of course we got caught in a boat in the middle of the river during a storm just last month, so who am I to talk?)
Beautiful pictures — I love that layered rock look. If I can come back into the game next week after my (hopefully excused) absence, I would like #0025, the number of our RV Space right now.
I do have a respect for lightning but find storms exciting. Hope your recent move went well. Missed you and look forward to hearing about your new space in #0025.
My favorite this week is the photo of Marble Viewpoint, great angle!
