It’s my Friday even though it’s actually Tuesday. Scheduled to work from 1-9:30pm with time in the Visitor Center and the 8pm evening program. I talk about how the Ancestral Puebloans lived at Grand Canyon. Nice to sleep in with no alarm clock and enjoy the slow unfolding of the day.
After yesterday’s stormy sky brought intermittent rain and snow, waking to a blue sky was a delight, even if a bit cold at about 33F. As the morning progressed lines of fluffy clouds slide over the canyon.
Mule deer came to browse along the canyon’s rim. I so love the view from my RV Imax windows. Well except for the weather station photo bomb.
I spent a busy afternoon in the Visitor Center. Then after dinner made it back to the Lodge in time for a late light show.
With the next two days off I’m going to camp Wednesday night at the Snake Gulch trailhead so I can get an early start hiking to some petroglyphs and pictographs. This lower elevation area gets too hot in the summer to explore so hoping the cooler spring temperatures will be more conducive to hiking.
Beautiful photos as always – enjoy your time off hiking!
Thanks Cheryl. I will.
Beautiful! Have a good weekend, in the middle of the week.
Kind of a fine time for a weekend.
Oh, I can’t wait to see your photos from your hike! Enjoy your day.
Hoping for some good ones.
Amazing photos of the canyon, i will never tire of these magnificent view. Enjoy you few days off. Diane
Thanks Diane.
Is that your normal working schedule? That’s a pretty great time frame, having the mornings to yourself and not too late at the end of the day. You do have quite the view!
My daily schedule changes times through the week. Soon should be on 4 10-hour days with 3 day weekends. I do love that view.
Week-ends in the middle of the week are the best. The “real” week-ends are too busy to want to go anywhere. Looking forward to your pictures of petroglyphs and pictographs. I just love them.
I definitely prefer to work weekends and play mid-week.
Between you & Ivan I don’t know who’s got the most neatest summer job of ever. Camping out then heading off in search of petroglyphs sounds great. Oh how I wish my legs could once again take me on adventuress hikes like that. Stay cool:))
I think we both have the best jobs. Unfortunately, due to possible wet weather I didn’t hike.
Love the blue-green pic of the canyon. It is such a different look and absolutely beautiful! With temps warming I bet you’ll be hopping over the busy holiday when your weekend is over 🙂
Thanks Jodee. I don’t really notice us being busier on a holiday, but I’d much rather work it than try to fight the crowds anywhere.
It’s almost like being retired taking a couple of days off mid-week. That’s when we always try to do stuff and in fact we’re on a little trip ourselves right now. Looking forward to reading about this camping trip.
I do like my days off mid-week and rather work weekends. It was a wonderful place to camp even if I didn’t end up hiking. Hope you’re having a fun journey.
