Only one month away from returning to work at the North Rim Grand Canyon which doesn’t open until May 15th, weather permitting. But we have to get the place ready to greet you. Of course this season I have two RVs to move so I’m taking the truck-camper north ahead of time. Which means, I’m on the road again.
Left Yarnell Tuesday morning and after picking up my new eyeglasses in Prescott went only a little ways up the road to visit friends in Chino Valley. From there the elastic plan includes Gooseneck State Park, Natural Bridges National Monument, Hite marina on Lake Powell and Capitol Reef National Park. Then Highway 12 through Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument to Kanab where I’ll drop the camper at a friend’s house. This trip is all about Utah.
From there I dash back down to Yarnell and should have about a week before I hook up to the 5th-wheel and head north again.
From what I hear there won’t be much signal available on this journey, but who knows maybe I’ll get lucky somewhere along the way.
Have fun!!!! Hope you find lots of fun on the road. I can’t believe you’re done with Yarnell. Safe journeys and I’m hoping that I’ll see you sometime this summer. Hugs!
Thanks Chris. I’m not quite down with Yarnell. This trip is to drop off the truckcamper so I can return for the 5th-wheel. But very soon. 😀
I did the Highway 12 route last September, only I was headed from Bryce up to Torrey and Capital Reef. One of the most beautiful drives! I loved Capital Reef — hope to return to Utah soon and spend more time in several areas.
I’ve never driven that route and haven’t been to Capitol Reef in over 30 years so am really looking forward to it. When you get to southern Utah come visit the North Rim.
Sounds like a fabulous trip with the truck camper. Hope you’ll be able to post about it. That truck of yours is a real work horse. Toting the camper, pulling the 5th wheel. It’s amazing how fast time flies. Seems like you just left the North Rim and now you are preparing to return.
I can hardly believe winter is, finally, over making it about time to head back to the canyon. Well the end of April anyway. This is a good truck, unlike the last one. knock on wood. 😉
Sounds like a nice little road trip. Safe travels!
Thanks Elaine.
While in Scottsdale last November we each got prescription glasses – sunglasses and regular — at Costco for a huge savings (price, and taxes) over what we would have paid in Washington State (after a friend raved about Costco’s optometry dept and subsequent consumer reports confirmed what she said). Keep it in mind if you decide to expand your selection of what another friend tells me is now called, ‘face jewelry’!
I bought my last lenses at Costco but their frame choices were rather limited. Especially for my small face where I end up buying kids frames.
Sounds like an awe inspiring trip with many beautiful photographs to share with us. We’ve got meet up when you drop your camper off in Kanab. Any idea when that might be? By the way..Our Farmers Market with arts and crafts venders will be opening on April 4th. Dan and I are looking forward to seeing you again. Til then… Safe journey my Friend.
No specific dates for Kanab, the plan keeps changing, but I will get in touch when I get closer. Would love to see you both again.
Utah’s a great State for a roadtrip — with or without a plan or destination. Safe and happy travels.
There is TOO much to see. 😀
