This week’s Foto Friday Fun features 7 images chosen by readers from my photo archives. Our meme number for this week is 1977. Please link in any day this week by digging into your archives and sharing a photo and story on your blog. Plus check out the other posts linked to the Foto Friday Fun meme.
Bibi chose #1977, “the year I got married.” If I ever got married again, doubtful, Cape Royal overlook would be a perfect backdrop. This southeast view from there may look familiar to her from last June’s visit although this shot was taken in August 2010. The Grand Canyon doesn’t change much over five years.
Shane chose #2491, one of my favorite places to be for sunset. Toroweap overlook provides a unique view both up and downstream of the Colorado River 3,000 feet below. That’s straight down.
Diane chose #5007, “Sticking with James.” Who played the 5th James Bond anyway? A common scene when visiting a dam (lake, pond, reservoir)in Kruger National Park but you may have to look closely for all the animals. Besides the fact the birds are too far away to identify I see at least two large animals soaking near the large rock in the foreground. Do you?
Yogi chose #4565 when he didn’t like last week’s number of 6545 that “popped up a really nice pipeline photo that bored even me.” Thanks for joining in to Foto Friday Fun, even if you do cheat because I like you that way and also like to break rules. Anyway, he gets a camouflage shot of the tiny and illusive Steenbok also from Kruger National Park.
Sherry chose #7134, one of eight photos from a panorama because it’s not easy to capture a rainbow over Grand Canyon in just one shot.
Elaine chose #1219, a cheesy pic of me modeling a thrift store Victoria’s Secret wrap over my bathing suit during one of Berta and my winter forays to Laughlin, NV.
Sallie chose #405, the time she commented last week. This shot at Zion National Park is from the first time I visited in September 2008. After working at Grand Canyon and looking down it’s a whole different world in Zion being in the bottom of the canyon looking up.
My choice this week could have been hordes of wildflowers from Wednesday’s hike up Palm Canyon where I’ve taken you before in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. I’ll try to post them soon and instead give you this Mountain Sheep that stood not five feet from the trail. Here’s looking at ewe.

First commenter will chose next week’s photo index number.
Do you have a favorite from this week?
Here’s looking at ewe kid, indeed! LOL! I can only enjoy the photos – still haven’t worked out how to partake in this meme. We’re on the way to Knysna on Tuesday – will see Pete and Mart for a day or two’s visit. I love the Victoria’s Secret wrap on you too. (((Hugs))) Jo
Say Hi to Pete and Mart from me.
Looks like I was ALMOST the first one to comment this time! I didn’t know ewe had it in you to joke like that – –
Great picts, as usual. take care,
B
Thanks Sweetie. Will call this weekend sometime.
Your Toroweap photos are inspiring. I think I’d be nervous driving into someplace that remote. I’m always worried about running out of gas when I’m in the desert. It doesn’t stop me, I just fret while I drive. 🙂
#4234 for me this week, please.
Thanks Shane. The drive into Toroweap is not not for the feint hearted. But the view is to die for. Have you down for #4234.
Well it’s impossible again. Your pictures of the Grand Canyon are all stunning. I do love love my rainbow. I would be thrilled to see such a thing. But the Vicky’s Secret shot of you is great! I do see the animals near the rock but I can’t tell what they are. In the US I’d say alligators but could they be Hippos or Rhinos? That would be too wonderful.
Did it again, clicked send and said RATS – I forgot to pick a number. So let me have 775 for next week please.
It’s hard to take a bad photo of Grand Canyon, but of course a rainbow never hurts. Good guess, they are hippos. Have you down for #775.
Zion Park is such an amazing place. I would so love to go back to all the SW National Parks just once more. Thanks for the beautiful selection — I couldn’t pick a favorite picture.
I can’t think of any National Park visited that I’ve been disappointed with. Zion is a goodie. No number this week?
Wow! Hard to pick a favorite this week–they’re all wonderful, but I think the double rainbow has a bit of an edge. I’ll take 1212 next week.
Rainbows are always a winner. Have you down for #1212.
Your photos are amazing!
Thanks Jenn. Think about leaving a number and joining in the fun.
The canyons are so beautiful. We almost went to Zion this week as a part of our sun searching vacation, but a storm moved in. We changed our plans and will stay in Vegas rather than taking the drive north. Even there it is supposed to rain. Not what we were hoping for. I didn’t have a photo 1977 so will check things out for next week. – Margy
Yes, all the canyons are beautiful. Too bad about the weather changing your plans. Always feel free to leave a number and hope you’ll join in next week.
Nostalgia invoked with ‘my’ Grand Canyon shot. I like the one of you posing with your thrift shop wrap, too. Let’s see….next week I’ll have #222, representing tomorrow’s date and just maybe when my daughter’s baby will be born….we are all getting tired of waiting!
Have you down for #222 and I’ll cross my fingers for that baby’s birth tomorrow.
BTW, that book is excellent. Thank you.
Great set of photos and I see this is 99, wow, you have done well. Love that double rainbow and yes I can see the hippos, are the birds maybe herons or similar! 6007 for next week please Keep well Diane
Thanks Diane. Something special for next week’s 100th, I hope. Yes there’s hippos and I’m sure some of the birds are herons. Have you down for #6007.
I loved the pic from the bottom of Bryce Canyon looking up and the double rainbow shots.
I’m picking 6666 cause it is 9999 upside down.
Southwest canyons are hard to beat. Have you down for #6666.
I have been so busy the last few weeks that I have totally allowed my blog and reading others to land on the backburner. So sorry if I’ve been quiet. There’s been lots going on.
I always enjoy your photos and travelling along with you and seeing things through your eyes. But you know that already. Thank you for always being a travel inspiration encouraging me to want to go out and explore.
I choose #1 because yours are my favorite blog to follow.
I can imagine life has been hectic with your car being stolen and all. Glad you can be inspired to travel by my posts. And Thank You for calling me #1, which will be your number for next week.
