A three-day weekend approaches and with warmer than normal (whatever that is) temperatures in the Southwest people will be out in droves. So, although I still plan to visit Joshua Tree National Park I won’t roll in until at least Monday afternoon. I do love that people get out and enjoy their national parks, especially as this is a fee free weekend.
But that doesn’t mean I have to join them. Oh the joys of at least semi-retirement. Plus I’m still waiting for my new camp chair. So, in the meantime, I sit home and continue to label photos from the last foray, and dream.
The North Rim Grand Canyon National Park opens May 15, 2015, and that’s only three months away. Hope you’ll come for a visit this summer to enjoy a last light view like this.
National Parks Fee Free Dates 2015

Which National Park are you visiting this weekend?
This is the camp chair I just bought and it’s still on sale at Amazon.

Love every one of your photos today. That’s one of the best selfies I’ve seen. Not having to go anywhere on the week-ends is one of my greatest joys in full timing. I stay home and do chores and then go out during the week. Good call on your part IMO.
Thanks Sherry. None of my cameras work for selfies unless on a tripod or reflection, and even then…
My chores are done and if I hang out much longer will need to be done again.
I too like your selfie. An entrance guard at Mount Ranier in Washington gave me a free pass for life for National Parks. I think I am totally not eligible for it and stuck it in a drawer cuz he looked very young and ignorant.
I liked your chair and clicked your link but it took me to a host gator page. Check your link, who knows I might buy the chair and Amazon give you a few cents in the gas tank.
Thanks for the heads up. I’m just learning how to add Amazon links. Think I fixed it. Even if you don’t want the chair by clicking an Amazon link on my blog I’ll get those pennies from any purchase you make. And will appreciate it.
Although National Park passes are not computerized you do have to show an ID to match. If you were given the “Senior Pass” you don’t qualify yet.
I love that selfie – – you go girl

Gee, thanks.
I really like the selfie. Life is surely agreeing with you !
Thanks Kelly.
Nice selfie, Gaelyn – you look pensive. Hope the chair soon arrives. We are having a warm spell here – snow due again next week.
It just takes me too much concentration to take a selfie. Appears my chair was delivered to the PO yesterday so am going to pick it up today. Enjoy your snow, while I head into the warmth of the desert.
I can only wish! Everglades is our closest NP but we won’t be visiting this weekend or next week because we’re hanging around waiting for service people to come to our house. It takes forever to get anything done here.
But anyway we have old people’s cards, so any visit to any NP ever is free to us. So far. (That was the best investment we ever made.)
Love your Park pictures; we’ve been in all of those parks, but not recently enough. Oh for a magic carpet!
I feel your pain about waiting for service and repairs. My little town is dismal in that department. Besides, like you say, it’s free every day and you earned that. It would be crowded on a free weekend.
Please order two of those magic carpets. 😉
Nice selfie. We are volunteering at Alligator River NWR. Wish we were back in AZ. It is cold here on NC.
Thanks Ann. I’m very happy to be in the warmth of AZ. Hang in there, spring will come followed by summer.
Glad they have some free days for visitors but I think I definitely don’t want to be at a National Park on those days!
Totally agree.
