This week’s Foto Friday Fun features 7 images chosen by readers from my photo archives. Our meme number for this week is 72. Please link in any day this week by digging into your archives and sharing a photo and story on your blog. Plus check out the other posts linked to the Foto Friday Fun meme.
Bibi chose #72, how many years a friend celebrated last week at a birthday party. I graduated from high school in 1972 and a dear friend from that era now lives in Florida where I visited back in 2005. We took his motorhome to the Castillo de Marcos in St Augustine and toured the fort.
Yogi chose #793. Buckskin Gulch was the first slot canyon I ever walked and have returned several times to be amazed by the power of water against rock. The sandstone walls are the result of nature’s sculpturing.
Diane chose #7001. This shot of the Outeniqua Mountains was taken the same place as last week’s protea, her choice also. I so love the many mountain ranges seen in South Africa, this just north of George.
Sherry chose #5555. I’ve teased her before with photos of Derek hoop dancing at the North Rim’s Heritage Days. One of these summers I hope David and she can visit Grand Canyon. I dearly want to meet these two folks.
Sallie forgot to choose a number so there are 54 words in her comment from last week and she gets the gorgeous sunset view I enjoyed while parked in Colorado when I worked at Mesa Verde National Park.
Shane chose #455. Returning to the Kaibab Plateau from Utah revealed a touch of sunlight through these stormy October clouds. Sorry it’s a little shaky through the windshield.
Elaine chose #3737. She likes to watch the birds but I doubt she’s ever seen an European Bee-eater near her Alaska home. I love the colorful birds I’ve seen in Kruger National Park, South Africa.

Do you have a favorite from this week?
Lovely photos as always, but I think I have to go with the sunset photo as this week’s favorite!
Thanks Patti.
OK where did those camels really come from? I mean that’s a great shot. These are a really fine set of pictures. We did see the hoop dancer when we were at Grand Canyon but our big loss was not seeing you. It is definitely on the list along with that slot canyon. Can’t make it this summer because of the wedding but maybe in 2016 if David’s health holds up. Let me try 888 for next week. I’m into repeating….repeating…repeating…..
Thank you. Well, there used to be camels in this desert. 😉 I’ll post about them soon. We probably crossed paths at the North Rim. Have you down for #888.
I was hoping to make that drive from Utah to the North Rim about a year and a half ago but couldn’t get a campsite. I switched things around and went to Capitol Reef instead. That place was amazing.
I’m enjoying your current adventures and I’m beginning to think a camper may be in my future in a decade or so. I love the idea of just finding a spots in the desert and making those spots home for a while. You’re doing it right, I think.
#4403 for me, please.
North Rim campground is almost exclusively reservation, unless you walk in or ride a bicycle. But there’s lots of free camping in the adjacent forest, some right on the rim.
I loved and lived a mobile lifestyle for over 20 years.
Have you down for #4403.
Love the Bee-eater and, no, I’ve never seen one anywhere near home–except in photos. I’ll choose 1116 for next week.
You get to see other amazing birds near home. Have you down for #1116.
I like ‘my’ Saint Augustine shot. I was there when I was twelve, but my memory dims. Love the bee-eater, too.
Next week I’ll have 46, the number of chromosomes a human body has. Why? Because I am reading this fascinating book about cells….and more….
How cool that you’ve been to St Augustine. Have you down for #46. Sounds like an interesting read.
Thanks for the South African memories. Sounds like you are enjoying your trip to the desert and I love the camels. Have a great weekend Diane. Oh how about 7007 for next week.
I’m having a wonderful warm time in the desert and have now seen some more amazing animals. Have you down for #7007.
A great collection of photos and I love the road shot of the Kaibab Plateau. I also loved the dancer and the slot canyon, and all the rest. Great job as usual.
My number is 8930 for next week.
Thanks Yogi. Have you down for #8930.
Oh gosh you couldn’t have chosen a better picture for me — that amazing sky is my kind of view. Before I forget again, I will chose 112 (what’s on my clock right now, I am such a boring person can’t think of any other good number story). Loving all the scenery pictures … the last pic, that silhouette is just … (heart going pitter patter)
I see Yogi has an entry to your meme on his blog but he didn’t link (I just by chance happened to be at his right before I came here).
