Shane chose #7035. Soft smoke from a prescribed burn on the South Rim drifts towards the canyon while last light touches Mt Humphreys’ peak. From the Wedding Site at Cape Royal, North Rim Grand Canyon National Park last September.
Sherry chose #350. Over the summer at least one or two groups of classic cars—this time Franklins—visit the North Rim. Visitors, and myself, get as much enjoyment looking at the cars as the canyon. Feels like a step back in time when the drive to Grand Canyon took days instead of hours. But still they came.
Bibi chose #38, “the number of days left until my birthday.” I am a firm believer that jewelry makes a wonderful birthday present, and I usually buy myself something. I’ve also been known to make jewelry for myself, others and sale. I sold this necklace a while ago, made from Kingman turquoise, coral, hematite, jasper and sterling silver. I always wear a finished piece to make sure it’s sturdy, comfortable and hangs right.
Yogi chose #8317. This is one of a three part panorama taken in South Africa so I’ll share them both. I love the big views at Mountain Zebra National Park with rolling landscapes and big skies.
Diane chose #7000. She might recognize this Forest White Sugarbush Protea that Joan and I saw along the N12 just north of George, South Africa during March of last year. The flowers are many and about the size of grapefruits on this shrubby tree. We also saw them in pinks with black edges.
My choice taken on New Year’s Eve. Snow line down to 2000 feet on the Vallecito Mts greeted our view that morning. It was cold. It was breathtaking. And I hope it doesn’t return soon.

Do you have a favorite from this week?
Hi there. I really love ‘my’ necklace. Hope it has a good home. I also especially like the photo you chose for yourself. Nippy here, but after all, it is winter. Going to a friend’s birthday today. She is 72 today (I think….) so I’ll chose that number for next week.
As it is cold here also I’m thinking more and more about South African summers. Have a good birthday party time. Have you down for #72.
Beautiful pics, I love your NYE photo. I’m picking 793 for next week.
Thanks Yogi. Have you down for #793.
Love proteas, how I wish I could grow them here. Much as I love the proteas and the cars, I have to agree with you about the favourite. That photo of the Vallecito Mts is amazing. Next week 7001 please. Take care Diane
I love the proteas. Snow almost gone on those mountains now. Have you down for #7001.
That’s a gorgeous view you have for starting the new year though I’m sorry to hear you weren’t warmer. I’ll try 5555 for next week.
I’m loving the views, cold or warm. And right now the sun is cooking me happy. Have you down for #5555.
Beautiful mountains, beautiful clouds. I wish I were in as good shape for my age as those cars are. Happy New Year — and although the last picture is amazing, I do hope for no return of the snow …. because I know and understand perfectly how much you do NOT like cold weather.
Thanks Sallie. I’ll bet it’s warmer in FL. Snow is almost melted off the mts but mornings are cold. No number this week?
I’m definitely going to have to make it to the North Rim soon. I always enjoy your pictures of the canyon. Happy New Year!
#455 for me.
I hope you do make it to the North Rim. You’ll be blown away. Have you down for #455.
Love those old cars and the cloud panorama! Hope you get some warmer weather soon–and we’re still having a mild winter and we’re gaining daylight. No complaints from us. Give me 3737 for next week.
Gaining daylight is Good! Days are warm, mornings are Cold. Have you down for #3737.
