Enjoyed the best weather during two and a half days of beach bumming in Bandon, Oregon.
Just a short walk from the hotel through the pines and over the grass covered dunes to the beach.
I found a stump to sit on and watch the sunset.
Wondering if the tide was coming in or going out. Turned out to be almost high tide so I abandoned by stump.
Gifted by a rainbow at Facerock (far left).
Old Town Market along the Coquille River offering robust looking fresh organic vegetables and almost still wiggling fish and seafood along with a variety of creative arts and crafts.
Lighthouse at the mouth of the Coquille River which unfortunately didn’t get to tour.
Waves rolled high at the jetty.
Where I found an agate my first step onto the pebbled beach.
Giant driftwood smoothed by waves, wind and sand forms sculptural furniture.
Geologic marvels of honeycomb erosion.
Hole in rock at Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge had caught the corner of my eye in a quick flash a couple times while driving the Beach Loop Road between town and the hotel.
That is my kind of place except that I would have dangled my rod in for a beach supper. Beautiful So good to see you enjoying life.
Funny I didn’t see anyone fishing, but did eat a fresh catch.
With winter heading your way its nice to see summer still lingering. Now stop holding on to it and let it go. We are waiting. Hahahaha
The weather is beautiful but not quite summer. Looks totally gray today with rain coming. You’ll be seeing summer long before I.
What a gorgeous place. Your pictures are stunning. Every one a jewel. How far is the closest Rv spot to there? I want to put it on my wishlist.
You’d love this area. Lots of RV parks around, and just north of Nina’s latest lighthouse in Cape Blanco.
An area I love so well…and you captured it beautifully! Wonderful that you got some sunny days.
Nina
We’ve been so lucky weather wise. Head north along the coast today under gray sky and probably rain.
Each photo a treasure, Gaelyn. That coast is so scenic. And – you even had a rainbow!
Thanks Barb. The Bandon weather was unusually superb with mostly sun and enough rain to provide the rainbow.
Fabulous post, that top photo is amazing, it looks like the seawood is made of gold. Keep well Diane
Oops slip of the finger, see weed!!
Thanks Diane. I thought the patterns and light on the seaweed looked very artsy.
Thanks for the Oregon memories – beautiful photos!
Oh Gaelyn, this is simply magnificent! Great captures!
An Oregon beach is a big change from the Grand Canyon. Love the photos, especially the rainbow, the lighthouse, and the driftwood.
Was definitely a change in scenery.
Ah, what heaven. I am nearly recovered from my French bug; a nasty one. Should have drunk more good wine….
Love these shots, Gaelyn.
Glad you are feeling better. More wine would probably have been a good idea.
I’m so so happy that the weather cooperated for you. Bandon has always been my favorite spot on the coast . Lovely photos — this post is almost as good as walking the beach myself — you found wonderful treasures.
We really did luck out weather wise in Bandon. Portland has been like a sponge.
Beautiful photographs. Heather and I went to the Oregon coast in August a few years ago and about froze. We loved it though. It is beautiful.
The nature of the Oregon coast is typically not sunny or warm, but beautiful yes.
Great to see these shots – – again – – Could almost feel the sea breeze – –
Thanks for the memories
Berta
Always nice to relive a marvelous adventure. Thank you for coming by. Hugs
