Bibi chose this week’s #8888 because, “I like how the number looks.” As I liked how the daytime moon hung over this dune at Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa.
Yogi’s #510 comes “from my good friends at Random.org.” My good shadow friend was enthralled by this view from Sunset overlook into Arch Creek Canyon at Cedar Breaks National Monument.
Diane chose #8881, also from the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, this Blackbacked Jackal looked quite comfortable and in no hurry to get out of the road.
Sherry chose #7430, “Since it is 7:43 here on the east coast.” Amazingly enough this shot of a Fiscal Shrike was taken in Addo Elephant National Park in South Africa at 7:30 am. Talk about coincidence.
Elaine chose #2222 which brings a far off view across the Esplande layer of Grand Canyon from Toroweap.
Sallie chose #74 because “I celebrated that birthday in the Yukon Territory this year. Bill said he would take me to an exotic foreign country to celebrate.” How about some Roman ruins in Frankfurt Germany for exotic and foreign. I saw this in 2010 during a long layover on my way to South Africa in 2010.
My choice this week is the only successful still shot I have ever captured of lightning, and I took it through the RV window. I used video for lightning in the past but the stills were very small. Don’t have a lightning trigger or finger. Did take about 20 shots with no lightning and this was the second in a double flash. I’ve heard to watch for lightning on the edges of storms. I was mostly lucky.

Great shots as always Gaelyn. I really love your lightning shot. Sorry i can’t participate just now, off again to the desert on Monday and masses to do before that.
Thanks Arija. Have fun in the desert.
I really like your lightning photo. I’ve never been able to get one. As always a beautiful collection of photos today.
I’m in for next week again with #6387. Randomly selected as always
Thanks Jonker. I feel real lucky to have gotten that lightning shot. Have you down for #6387, which will also be next weeks number.
These are awesome shots, I love seeing #GodsGifts in all their glory. Happy Fri-Yay!
Thank you Antionette.
I really like ‘my’ dune shot and yours of Toroweap! I’ll have 6060 next week, like my vision, I think.
Next visit we’ll get to Toroweap. Have you down for eagle eye #6060.
I love my photo of the Jackal but your lightning shot is brilliant, literally. Well done, I have never managed to catch one with out the video, and yes I agree they come out very small. 7771 for next week please. Have a good weekend Diane
I was massively excited about getting the lightning shot. Have you down for #7771.
WOW that lightning shot is terrific! So glad you got it. I love the shades of gray and it’s electric look. Really great shot of Cedar Breaks, one of my favorite spots in the west. Love the jackal and the shrike. I’ve never seen either of them outside of your pictures. The jackal colors are just beautiful. S/he looks regal.
Oh shoot, almost forgot. Clicked that submit too soon. Let me have 6753 for next week please.
Was definitely luck getting the lightning shot. I too really like Cedar Breaks. Have you down for #6753.
Great photos all. I like the photo you picked for me cuz of your shadow.
Next week my number, courtesy of random dot org is 1621.
I linked up this week. I used number 1500 because I missed 1500 earlier. Sorry for cheating but you already know and hopefully accept that I do cheat a lot.
Take care!!
Thanks for linking in. I never mind your cheating. Have you down for #1621.
I wondered when you were in Germany at first; that was a neat place for a layover. Love all the pictures but I think the shadow shot at the overlook is just remarkable.
Frankfurt was very interesting, although kind of cold in January.
Fantastic shot of the lightning! And a very nice collection of shots this week too. I’ll select 1254 for next week.
Thanks Elaine. Was very exciting to finally capture lightning. Have you down for #1254.
I rarely comment on your pictures but must compliment you on the lightning shot. You keep passing it off as luck but you make your own luck by continuing to try to capture the picture you want.
Getting a picture of a lightning strike is “like trying to catch lightning in a bottle” but you have done it!
Thanks Ed. My persistence paid off.
