This week’s Foto Friday Fun features 7 images chosen by readers from my photo archives. Our meme number for this week is 2458. Please join in with a post and link below with a #2458 photo from your archives. And check out the other posts linked to the Foto Friday Fun meme.
Yogi used random.org to choose this week’s 2458 number. In my photo index that’s just one of seven images for a panorama of Sky Island seen near the Walhalla overlook during a hike this summer. So you get a twofer. I remember when I used to have to tape together panorama prints and they went on the refrigerator door. Did you ever do that?
Sherry chose #4892 and writes “This is like playing the lottery only less expensive and more fun.” I don’t buy lottery tickets but it sure was a gamble taking photos of this Purple-crested Turaco roosting high above camp. And although I struggle to photograph birds I did get quite a few more birds in Kruger National Park.
Elaine chose #7911, a sleeping beauty seen along the road in Addo Elephant National Park South Africa.
Diane chose #2221 which brings us to setting up a telescope for the week long 2014 Grand Canyon Star Party. This annual mid-June event includes about a dozen scopes on the Lodge veranda and volunteer amateur astronomists from Tucson share the night sky with visitors.
Sallie chose #9991, “because probably I am last to choose.” She wasn’t the last to choose but did take the highest number to choose from. And was getting pretty close to the end of this year’s journey in South Africa with an egret fishing along the shores of Mankwe Dam in Pilanesberg Game Reserve.
Jonker chose #7531 a “ Random number cause that’s how I roll.” Sometimes he rolls up the road from where he lives to Addo Elephant National Park where I’m sure he’s seen zebras. But I wonder if he’s seen them from the underground bird hide accessible from the main camp. Sure was a great place to see them up close.
Bibi chose #3333 for “Absolutely no reason.” 4th of July gives us at the North Rim a reason to have a water parade. Uncle Sam had a wonderful time spraying every one who got within reach of his hose.
Something a little different than Grand landscapes, my choice for this week of a Dark-eyed Junco checking out some scraps on the lodge veranda. I see these flitting on the ground everywhere but can rarely get a photo.
Please share your own #2458 photo and story by adding your link below and linking back to Foto Friday Fun 77. You can also leave a number between 01 and 9990 in a comment for next week’s Foto Friday Fun. And in order to give you a head start for next week I’m choosing #1500 because this is my 1500th post since October 8, 2008.
Do you have a favorite from this week?
Capturing the present for future memories of the past
I love the sleeping lion picture, what a gem. I now can’t stop thinking of the song “in the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight” 🙂
Can I pick 6,473 please?
Many congratulations on your 1,500th post! That is an amazing achievement.
OK, now I have “a weam away, a weam away…” in my head.
I’ll be starting my 8th year of blogging next month.
Have you down for #6473.
What a great set of photos. I have always wanted to look at the night sky through a telescope, maybe one day!! 1550 posts is amazing, well done. That lion has started me off as well, we will all be singing in our heads. Of course I could switch to Ebony and Ivory with the zebra 🙂 Have a great weekend, Diane
Although I’d probably never own a telescope it is absolutely amazing to look.
Thanks for changing the song in my head. And for giving me an extra 50 posts, which now I’ll have to live up to. Being that’s the only number you left I’ll assume that’s your pick for next week.
Oh my goodness that Zebra and the sleepingLion are just fantastic. Love those opening pictures of the canyon too, you captured such magnificent color. I think I’ll take 07 for next week.
I’m missing the South African wildlife. But I am getting better at bringing color out in Lightroom. Have you down for #07.
Gaelyn, I love the zebra picture and the cute junco at the end of this post. You have seen so much beauty in your life! Your mind must be a whirlwind of joy!
The photos really do evoke memories of the many things done and seen.
Fantastic memories in all of these Gaelyn. Love all of them!
Great pics and my favorite is the one for me!!!
You certainly have interesting photo archives.
Next week my number is 6825, courtesy of Random.org.
I’m thinking we all have interesting photo archives. That’s why it’s so much fun to share and dredge out the stories.
Have you down for #6825.
Great shots again; I’m late dropping by. Thanks for the refreshing water squirt post for me! And that zebra is giving you a come-hither look. (Yes, I did used to make panoramic shots with Scotch tape!)
You’re not late, but did forget to leave a number for next week.
Glad to know I wasn’t the only one taping panos together.
Love the sleeping lion and the zebra photos, and the panorama photo of the canyon is wonderful! I’ll take 1878 for next week.
Thanks Elaine. Have you down for #1878.
While I always like your pictures I do specially like the sleeping lion and the Zebra one.

Thanks MB. No number from you this week?
See you tomorrow and this week I’ll choose a number. Getting back to normal slowly.
The sleeping lion is wonderful. And the zebra. And the amazing Sky Island picture.
Glad you’re back. So enjoying your AK adventures.
