This week’s Foto Friday Fun features 6 images chosen by readers from my photo archives offering a nice balance between Arizona and South Africa. Thanks for the memories.
Jo chose #2807, “which is the date we actually leave site now.” That’s cause for celebration! And this fire truck was in the North Rim’s 4th of July celebration water parade.
Jonker chose #5935 and I know he loves Tsitsikamma National Park as much as I do. Of course he also lives closer to it than I and gets to see sunset over the Indian Ocean whenever he wants to.
Yogi chose #711, “cause that will be the date next Friday.” He works in gas and this is a guy from our electric company. Is there much difference? This guy was cutting big limbs off a tree killed from the Yarnell fire in my back yard before it was taken down. Oh how I wanted to go up that bucket. Can you imagine the view?
Diane chose #9399 where we see the mighty flow of a swollen Orange River at Augrabies Falls National Park, South Africa where I celebrated my 60th birthday.
Melissa chose #521. Hippos hang out in water all day staying cool and out of the mid-day sun. It’s not easy to keep track of how many because they can stay under water around 5 minutes then only show eyes and nostrils when they emerge. How many can you count? I saw this group in the Mandwe Dam in Pilanesberg Game Reserve, South Africa.
Elaine chose #356 for the record breaking 3.56 inches of rainfall in June where she lives in Alaska. An unusually high March rainfall in Pilanesberg Game Reserve helped the grasses grow tall to feed young animals like this zebra.
My choice this week from the North Rim’s annual 4th of July water parade. Uncle Sam got into the spirit spraying the crowd. How do you like this ride?
Thank you for joining in Foto Friday Fun where readers choose a number from my archives and I share the corresponding photo and a story. To join in the fun for
next week leave a number between 01 and 9993 in a comment and maybe see your chosen image next week.
Do you have a favorite from this week?
I have so many photos to share from this recent journey in South Africa. So as I label them I’ll post every 100th image on the Geogypsy Facebook page where you can follow along.
Capturing the present for future memories of the past
I like Uncle Sam dousing the crowd the best, all the pics are great though.
The number 40 just popped into my head so I’m going with it.
Yes, Uncle Sam was a kick. And he was soaked as well. Have you down for #40.
Love the zebra. waterfall, Uncle Sam. And yes, I would love to check out the view in an aerial bucket. I’d like one attached to the back of my vehicle –oh the views one could see!
#7574 just because
Love the idea of a bucket on your car.
Have you down for #7574.
Well I should have asked for 472 last week but since I seem to be making a habit of forgetting, first thing, I’ll ask for it today. LOVE that sunset and the powerful waterfalls and the cool looking water that I’d like to get in although I suppose not with Hippos. What would they do? But I guess my very very favorite of all my favorites is that zebra. The color in that photo is fantastic.
Don’t think I’d want to swim with the Hippos. Maybe that’s why the camps have swimming pools. Got lucky and caught that zebra in the late golden light. Have you down for #472.
I do like that zebra! Put me down for 7777.
Baby animals are so adorable. Have you down for #7777.
Ah, I love the Tsitsikama National Park too. Love the zebra as always. My number for next week is 9000. Have a great day. Jo
I will never tire of Tsitsikamma. Have you down for #9000.
My favourite this week is definitely my own photo, I have never seen the Orange river so full. Great photos of the Augrabies Falls. Lack of inspiration on my behalf, so I will go for 9939 next week :-))) Hope all is well. Diane
That water flow was awesome! Have you down for #9939
Seeing that this Friday is Nelson Mandela’s birthday and South Africans (actually everybody in the world) is urged to give 67 minutes of their time to better the world we live in. The 67 refers to the 67 years Mandela spent in public working for the betterment of this country. Pity Photo Friday 67 was last week and not this week. Perhaps 67 b, hahaha. So for this week I choose # 67
A very worthy reason to choose #67.
Frisky Uncle Sam there … I really like the Parade. And the zebras…. bad light (on my computer, not in your picture) , old eyes, couldn’t see the hippos (that would probably happen to me in real life too). Will be in Denali NP next Friday. No Internet.
Enjoy Denali!
