Just like clockwork, July 2nd brought the first measurable rain. And so it begins, monsoon at Grand Canyon National Park as seen from the North Rim Grand Lodge.

We have had some great cloud cover but only about 10 drops of rain so far….tho Wickenburg got 1 1/2 inches in two nights….go figure!…As long as some people are getting rain is the main thing…
Although we’ve gotten several nice rains the ground is still dry. Can’t believe the fire restriction was lifted already.
I can’t believe the restrictions were lifted either! Yarnell must have gotten quite a bit….on my walk this morning (out my front door into the desert ) the little washes were almost running….had to have come from run off from Yarnell. Still the dark black residue from the fire.
Beautiful to look at never the less. Hope all is well Diane
I am happy to see the rains come. It’s a daily show.
Monsoon is a great time, a lot of rain but the beginning of something new.
I relish the moisture to the earth. And as I type, it is raining.
Awesome capture of the start of a monsoon for SWF ~ thanks, ^_^

Thanks. I am happy to say, it is currently raining.
I love the dramatic skies and seeing them over the Grand Canyon, is just beautiful. Have a happy weekend!
Beautiful.

How I love monsoon season! What wondrous things it brings to life (sooner or later)!

Monsoon season…..yike….but it certainly looks fantastic as a skywatch. Take care, my friend.

We are doing happy dances when it rains.
I miss how the desert smell changed just before a rain.
Beautiful photo!
And after too.
Beautiful shot! Hope it will make it’s way west to the CA desert!
Me too. I’ll try to send some your way.
One of the few places I’d like to see is the grand canon, looks awesome
A place everyone should see. What’s keep you?
Ours have begun, too – every afternoon, storms are in the forecast. Unfortunately, sometimes it’s mostly lightning and thunder with only a few drops of rain. Great moody panoramic.
Same problem here Barb.
I love the sight of rain approaching from across the canyon
Me too. Now if it would just fall here.
Needed rain a real blessing to the beautiful land.
