This week’s Foto Friday Fun features 7 images chosen by readers out of my photo archives. Of course these are all from my current journey through South Africa as that’s all I have on the replacement computer.
Diane chose #101, “just out of the hat.” I think elephants would look funny in hats but this chorus line is just getting a drink in Addo Elephant National Park. What do you think about the hats?
Jo chose #39, “the total amount of days until we go out to SA on our break.” 3+9=12 which is how many days until I return to the States. Now that has nothing to do with this image. Except if this Boomslang snake, which is extremely venomous, seen in Addo Elephant National Park had been alive I might have been scared back earlier. It had, unfortunately, been run over. Yet I think it’s colors quite striking.
Yogi chose #999, “cuz it is the inverted sign of the beast and I’ve already done 666.” Sorry, no sign of the beast here. Instead you get our campsite in Twee Rivieren camp at Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. My tent is on the right and Joan sleeps in her truck. The other tent is for storage.
Sherry chose #2. She gets a view of the Outeniqua Mountains just north of George South Africa when we were on our way to Karoo National Park.
Bibi chose #5, “optimistically thinking of my fifth trip to India…when?” I think I’d like to go with her to India and then maybe get her to go to South Africa with me. We could see many things like these hops growing along the road north of George, and not far from the previous mountain view.
MaryBeth chose #22 and she gets 2 of 2 sets of multi-generations of elephants in Addo Elephant National Park.
Jonker chose #1975, “The year I was born.” Now this number is larger than the parameters but I did find one and there are 5 Red Hartebeest in this image from Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.
My choice this week comes from the most recently visited Augrabies Falls National Park, the 10th park of this visit. Due to heavy rain the falls, known as “The Place of Noise” were really flowing. I wanted to share a video complete with sound but slow internet connection won’t allow.
This week marks one year, or 52 weeks, of Foto Friday Fun. If you’d like to see me keep this going please mention it in a comment then choose a number between 01 and 999 for next week. Thank you for joining in Foto Friday Fun where readers choose a number from my archives and I share the corresponding photo and a story.
Do you have a favorite from this week?
Look for other photos posted on Geogypsy Facebook page not usually seen here.
Oh WOW WOW WOW that my number brought up a Boomslang! Sad that it’s not alive but better for you as they are extremely venomous. I used to work on a wildlife reserve (testing war weapons! – imagine) and these snakes would hang in the tree outside my office and gaze at me. Well, probably they were just gazing, LOL! Great on 52 weeks of this, one of my favourite blogs, Gaelyn. I would like to have the number 199 this week if that’s still available. My favourite photos are the two ellie pics .Both brilliant and no, no hats needed. Have a great weekend, Gaelyn, and happy birthday AGAIN. (((Hugs))) Jo xxx
It’s such a beautiful snake, to look at from afar. Yet I can’t imagine having them “gaze” at me. Can you just imagine how funny elephants would be in hats. Have you down for #199.
You are the Elephant Whispererer I think.
Yes, keep on going! if you want to.
998 is my next number.
I’d really like to bring home a baby elephant. Think they’d mind at the canyon? Have you down for #998.
Thanks for the elephants! Next time in India I’ll see if I can get some to pose for me along a river. 😉 I also love the poor green snake, albeit a venomous one.
Next week….#44. That’s in how many days I leave for the US, and then some more to you; haven’t bought that ticket yet.
I’d like to see a chorus line of Indian elephants. Have you down for #44. And will see you soon.
That really is a beautiful snake. Unlike anything I’ve seen in the states other than perhaps the little green garter snake but my favorites are those elephants. They would be funny in hats, sort of. But that reminds me of circus elephants for whom I nearly always wept. I only went to one circus and just couldn’t stand the animals being used the way they were. I say the choice to continue should be yours depending on how much trouble this is. Seems like a lot to me. BUT if you do, I’ll take # 127. CONGRATS on a whole year of Foto Friday.
I was always sad to see the elephants at the circus when my folks took me as a kid. They looked pathetic. Much nicer to see them in the wild, with no hats. Have you down for #127.
Hi there Gal Friend – – Beautiful photos – – Just a not to let you know I’m packing in the Motel this am, and heading back to AZ – – shorter trip than I expected. Had a great time seeing the kids – – May be picking you up after all if they wil change schedule – – time is flying – – Love you –

Ha ha I can just imagine the row of elephants with their sun hats on!!! I am sad that you saw the boomslang dead but glad you did not encounter it alive while camping! Lovely selection of photos.
Of course we would like to see Friday foto keep going, no question about it. How about 998 for next week. Enjoy Pilanesburg. Diane P.S. I get more and more jealous!
I just have to laugh at the idea of the row of elephants in sun hats. 🙂 Yes, it is sad that the boomslang had been run over but I too am glad not to see it in camp. Glad you enjoy Foto Friday Fun and I have you down for #998 for next week.
Had lots of rain in Pilanesburg Monday before we arrived and many of the sand roads are impassable for our non 4×4 but still having a great time.
Of course I want you to continue FFF — I look forward to it (even though sometimes I don’t get to read it until late Friday or even Saturday….) It is always so fun. Hard to pick a favorite, but I gotta go with the elephant families. 6 has always been my favorite number and I’m not afraid of it in spite of Yogi (;>)) (I know he’s kidding). So I’ll take 66 or 666 or 6, whichever one you want to give me.
I’m glad you enjoy Foto Friday Fun as I do too. So I have you down for #6.
All stunning pictures and memories.
Sweet! Are you anxious to come home and get back to work??? NOT!

I’m not anxious to leave but certainly am longing for my own bed and certainly can’t complain about my job. I always miss the canyon.
I love Friday Fotos. Keep it going and I choose 52. Because………….

You’ve got it, and #52.
